Galan finally stepped back from Shanta, looking her over. Her leg was now wrapped tightly in bandages, having only been mended partially so the body could naturally heal the rest of it. He wasn't able to do much about her arms, at least until he managed to disinfect them, so he left those alone. "Alright, you're free to go," he said gruffly, looking around for any other students that had dared injured themselves.
...was he tripping or did that white-haired kid have two dead-lookin' bodies on a flying carpet?

Shanta didn't bother testing her leg. It ached, sure, but it wasn't like she was going to put any weight on it ever. Her arms didn't bother her that much, either. The physical pain was easy to bear - it was the emotional that was much harder to ignore. Distraction, she needed another distraction...
And then, like a blessing from above, Ari appeared, delivered terse instructions, and left. Shanta took a moment to absorb the information. From what it sounded like, Naomi was planning something exceedingly stupid, again. And she expected anyone she deemed helpful to help out without question? God, what a total idiot. Then again, whatever she was planning, if she needed a sparkwielder to redirect lightning, it couldn't be good.
Shanta looked up at the cloudy sky and frowned. Lightning... lightning came from a storm - she wasn't... holy s**t, Naomi was a ******** idiot. No wonder she wanted a sparkwielder - someone had to do damage control.
Of course, then Shanta still had to work out what the hell Naomi meant by "transforming" the energy. Shanta... sort of had an idea about that. In fact, as her gaze landed on Cas, she wondered...
No time to think, only to do. Shanta fluttered up and paused right next to Gage. "Hey, Gage, this is gonna sound stupid but when it starts raining just do me a favor and hold Cas over your head, okay? Thanks!" She flew off higher into the air and waited. If this worked it was going to be a flippin' miracle.
In any normal situation Gage would have put down Cas immediately. While he was bold, Gage did not like forcing people into doing what they didn't want to and usually searched for explicit permission before he touched somebody. He knew his hands and arms could be a very unpleasant experience. They were cold (unless Gage was using magic or channeling fire) and not nearly as comfortable as flesh.
Gage silently persisted despite having his face shoved at by Cas's arms, face blank even as his cheeks squished in ridiculous formations. He could tell Cas was just having a fit, and shifted himself to accommodate them so they'd be more comfortable while resting against him.
"He's fine." Gage answered since Aerykah had taken off running. With his head, Gage tilted to the general direction Icarus was currently in. He seemed to be standing near a man that looked quite similar to him.
Gage considered the idea of handing Cas off to a healer, but the professor seemed busy. About to suggest the idea and set Cas down once they reached the tree, Gage was interrupted by Shanta who appeared next to him.
...When it started raining? Gage didn't want Cas getting wet, though. He tilted his head towards Cas and gave them a questioning look. He would only do something like that if Cas themself wanted to.

Nᴀᴏᴍɪ Pʀɪᴛᴄʜᴇᴛᴛ // Tʜɪʀᴅ Yᴇᴀʀ // Eᴋᴀᴛᴇʀɪɴᴀ Rᴇᴘ
"...so as you can see time is of the essence I need to go now, bye!" Naomi turned and powerwalked away from a dumbfounded Headmaster who seemed to be grasping for words. Well, if he didn't actually tell her off, he technically couldn't say he forbid what she was planning, so they were all good there.
Naomi wasn't actually concerned with being expelled at that moment. As far as she was concerned, putting out Justus and the rest of the campus was a lot more important. She joined Ari at the Oak, looking up. She hadn't ever really noticed it before, but the thing was massive. To be expected from the greatest magick of all time, she supposed, but that didn't mean she couldn't be at least a little impressed.
Naomi glanced behind her. There was Shanta in the air; she had to give the legless elf credit, at least she was good at working out things for herself. With Shanta on interference, and herself and Ari on the Oak, Naomi was pretty sure she had the necessary bases covered. All that was left to do was plunge in. "Okay," she said, laying a hand on the Oak. "Let's give this a shot. Channel and see if you can talk to the old man himself. If we connect with him, then we should be able to tap into his power and use that to speed up this storm."
Naomi closed her eyes. They were the only ones that could pull this off, right? She couldn't think of another air/water mage combination, even among the professors. (The only two mages were Alcalde and Bellis, and they were stone and fire respectively.) Please work, she muttered to herself before opening her mind up to the Oak. Uh, hi, mister Merlin. So, I don't know if you actually have eyes or senses since you're sort of a tree, but we're kind of in a pinch. The Black Dragon got loose and the nearby town's on fire and so's most of the campus. My friend and I were wondering if you could lend us your power in speeding up the incoming storm to put out the fire? ...Please?
Marinna turned her attention to her daughter and her ex, watching what they were doing. As she observed, Naomi said something to the Headmaster that left the Headmaster stiff, and then they met at the Oak. She frowned. "What on earth is she planning...? Let's go over there anyway, dear, we may be able to assist with any injured." She took off at a brisk walk.
Well, at least things were moving progressively smoothly. She gave Naomi a little nod, taking a slow deep breath before placing her own hand and letting her eyes flutter shut.
It was an odd position; for some reason, Ari felt strangely vulnerable. She was unsure whether Merlin himself would actually respond, but if Naomi thought this was the best way to go about things then Ari would follow and make sure nothing ******** up too badly. At least this would make an interesting story for Charlotte. Though Ari had a feeling her girlfriend wouldn't really care.
A little comforted by allowing her mental version of Charlotte to downplay what she was doing, Ari properly concentrated. HEY! BIG TREE GUY! Could people aggressively think? Ari hoped it was coming through as aggressive thinking. She didn't know how else to get the attention of a dude that had been sleeping in a tree for centuries on end. Your domain or whatever is getting burned down by dragon flames. Lend us your power so we can help fix it.
Wait, she should probably say something polite so she didn't evoke the wrath of an all-powerful wizard, shouldn't she? ...Please._

⊰aerykah - sampson⊱ Aerykah couldn't help but agree, and flicked her hand to let the cloud go free on its own. It was almost out of water anyway, and she figured that if she let it float it wouldn't cause too much damage by raining on more flames.
"Okay, sounds good. I'll follow you."
Marinna's brisk walk both amused and concered Aery, and she went to follow, taking her time to observe the situation as she did: Nao and Ari are doing something stupid, I bet. Hopefully they won't get injured because of this. She let out a sigh as she quickened her pace to meet everyone at the tree. Cas looked to be doing better, Gage and Din were together, and Icarus was with someone, she just couldn't quite remember his name, but he looked in one piece. After this, she'd have to figure out dorm arrangements, and maybe see what the dining hall had that she could use for rations, as opposed to pranking.
"No, I thought you were like grievously injured because you were like pale and s**t and you were like that because you- AGH!"
The Merchant had gotten a little more used to surprise physical affection with Muna, because the damn kid was like a ninja sometimes he swore to god. And Mari was even worse, because while he could almost always expect the kid to jumphug him? Mari was ridiculously unpredictable. So, with face smushed up against her neck (though this was NOT a position the Merchant was unfamiliar with), the Merchant just sort of accepted his fate and waited for her to to let him go.
And let him go she did. "Hey, I'd prefer gettin' drenched to gettin' torched," he replied. "We can probably split once everything stops being on fire. And I'm not panicking about anybody! I'm just... trying to work out a place to stay!" Maybe he could just camp out on the ruins of his Cart until he got a new one. The Merchant had roughed it before, he could take it. He didn't want to, but he could take it. It was better than being reduced to begging for someone else's help.
"You totally thought I was gonnna die."Marianne goaded, a cheery grin splitting her face as usual. While her skin was still a shade off, she seemed back to normal for the most part. She was still really ******** hungry though. God, did she somehow forsee the future and shove a granola bar in between her boobs, or was it her phone? Mari felt something stuck in her bra.
"Oh that's what you're worried about?" Mari inspected her nails, snorting. "Just bunk with me!"
For what seemed like an eternal moment, nothing happened. Naomi's confidence started to crumble; was she wrong about this after all-?
And then a voice spoke in both the girl's heads.
Bewise,youngones.
It was as if a switch had been flipped. Power, sheer, unadulterated power was suddenly at their disposal. It was almost too much to handle, almost, but not quite. It seemed that even now, the power level was being moderated to avoid overloading the two young mages. Just enough power that they needed, but not enough power that would overload their own capacities.
Naomi shuddered but managed to keep a hand on the tree. It was a lot more power than she'd expected. She'd never felt this energized before. It felt... incredible. The Pact was after this much power? She could see why. And now she could see why it was more important than ever to keep the Pact the hell out of the school. Some corrupted organization with this much power? That would be a ******** nightmare.
Naomi took a deep breath; there were more important things to do right now than worry about the stupid Blood Pact. She needed to make some sort of contact with the water, make some sort of extension of herself into the clouds. She pushed a little harder, testing the waters, and then released a little power out of the Oak.
The tree began to glow softly, and then a sea-green beam of light burst out the top and punched through the clouds above. Naomi had instant control. She tested it, trying to pull the water closer together. The clouds above grew darker, just a little, and thunder very clearly rumbled. Naomi grinned.
Sweet.
"Okay, Ari," she muttered, hoping the older girl could hear her. "Your turn."
As they approached the Oak, Marinna slowed as the green pillar of light shot into the air and punctured the sky. Her brow furrowed for a moment before it smoothed over. "So that's what she's up to... what a clever girl. Come along, Aerykah, I think those two will be exhausted by the time it begins to rain."
Yani raised her eyebrows as she looked into Shanta's eyes as she spoke. Yani sighed, perhaps to loudly, in response to Shanta then flinched when she swore. She'd only heard her father's elven elders swear when she was waiting for them to be done. She looked at Shanta with even more concern for a brief moment. Yani laughed and flashed her smile when Shanta said that she'd hate to think of what would've happened if Yani herself was in the Commons. She looked around and remembered that this wasn't the appropriate time for laughter and covered her mouth while clearing her throat. "I'm sorry, umm...Heh," she cleared her throat again, "I would've been alright if I was in the Commons for a short while. I would've been able to escape without dying if I was in there I think." Yani smiled slightly as she put her hands on her hips and straightened out her back, cracking her back in the process. She didn't know what she was saying; she knew she would've been scorched, whacked by falling debris, or choking on smoke and passing out before she could make it out of there and would probably die or be close to it before she was found by anyone. Perhaps that was why she laughed: because she was happy she wasn't in there when the dragon attacked.
Yani looked at Shanta's wounds and thought of the pain that Shanta must be in mentally; her fiance was dead and she had probably witnessed some other horrible things in such a short time. Yani tried once more to hold her mouth in a flat line as she spoke quietly. "Shanta, you know you're not alone, right? Just because all of this is happening-" she gestured to the chaos and everyone around them, "-doesn't mean you can't focus on you. We have plenty of people to look after putting out the fires and retrieving or helping students and staff. You're still a kid like me. You're allowed to be selfish. You're allowed to cry and scream and curl up in a corner. You don't have to talk about anything but that doesn't mean you don't have to, well y'know..." Yani scratched the back of her head nervously. She hoped she wasn't pushing any buttons but she didn't want Shanta to suffer alone.
She watched as Shanta flew and talked to Gage after Ari mentioned a plan. Yani sighed again and walked briskly to be positioned near Shanta in case she needed any help.

End nodded, a a lot. He was making sure he kept a quick pace and kept on task, Shashi straight to Professor Runesteam. There was every likelihood that Tadion was already dead and this was all for nothing, but he really didn't think he could risk anything if there was still a chance.
"Mr..." he removed his ribbon so he could be heard better. They weren't too far from the professor now, but seeing how soft-spoken End was, even from this distance the ribbon could cause some mishearing. "...Professor!" He lead Shashi right up to the Professor. "We... we really need you... please..." He gestured towards the carpet, where both Tadion (large metal screw still poking out of his stomach) and Daksha lay. "He... he... I'm not sure if he's dead but... we found him in the dorms with... with something in his stomach and... and..." He took a moment to look at Daksha's body. "The other person is... he's already dead but... I don't know about Tadion... we... we need help..."
He turned to Muna, letting Professor Runesteam tend to Tadion at his own pace. End was- honestly -mostly relieved that Muna was there in the dorms with him. Usually he'd be more worried about Muna following him into dangerous situations. He was still a the tiniest bit worried at the moment, that if something went wrong and he led Muna in there, he probably wouldn't be able to forgive himself. But nothing did go wrong. Muna was safe. And a huge reason why it went so smoothly was Muna telling End exactly what he needed to do. "Muna, I...." he began, taking a deep breath. "I'm glad you were there... and... I'm sorry if it was dangerous... and I'm sorry if it's all for nothing and Tadion... hasn't made it... but... things could have gone so much worse... I think... Thank you." End exhaled.
With that, everything that he knew he had to do was now over. Of course, there was still worrying about Tadion, and worrying about the possibility of more people being hurt but End thought this was as good a time as any to just-- "Sorry, I just have to..." he told Muna, before sitting down and pulling his legs up so he was all balled up. Time to just escape for a moment, however short that moment is.

Galan Runesteam
u better believe I quoted Runesteam Probs going to wait for Runesteam's post before posting the inevitable
Ari was on the verge of removing her hand from the tree and figuring out a way to console Naomi when an unfamiliar voice rattled in her head.
Immediately Ari braced herself, resisting the urge to jerk her hands back from the sudden rush of energy that overtook her body. This was part of the tree's power? It felt...good.
Surprisingly, Ari felt incredibly unnerved by this fact. Why the hell hadn't the tree been protected more firmly if this was the power it held? How had the tree just been....lying there, for so long? Nobody should have had the ability to get so close to such an extreme source of power. This was an emergency though, and it wasn't like the rush of power didn't feel good, but...
Faintly, Ari felt Naomi say something to her. Ari immediately became focused on the task in front of her, shoving away her vaguely unsettled feeling and smothering it with determination. They had a job to do.
Ari focused, sucking in a deep breath of air. She poured some magic into the tree, and once again the tree began to glow. Dark pink light shot into the sky, and Ari could feel the effect of the power immediately. It felt like she had control over the clouds itself. Which was fine with her, because she was going to bend them to her will.
The wind picked up, Ari dragging the clouds closer to Merlin with iron force. They began to approach more quickly than before, and Ari exhaled a bit. She was going to have to keep up the constant push of energy for a while to get the clouds over successfully. _
Do not blush do not blush do nWHAT DID I ******** SAY. The Merchant colored, just a little, and raked his fingers through his greasy hair, looking grumpy. "Okay, fine, I thought you were gonna die or something equally bad! But you clearly aren't dead, so let's stop talking about it!"
Well, with Mari clearly not dead that sure uncomplicated things. Now the Merchant could focus a bit more on his stupid cart. Most of his wares were in there, and he'd have to restock and probably call in a few favors. Some of the more... powerful objects probably hadn't been destroyed, and some of his books had flameproof charms so they might have made it out alright. He'd just have to go back when it died down and pick through the remains of the cart. And then he needed a new cart. Great. He hoped his horse made it out alright.
For a moment, the Merchant didn't register Mari's invitation, and then he frowned. "But then I'm gonna have to shower every day. Don't you live outta town, too?"
The Merchant would've protested more but at roughly that moment a giant glowy green beam shot out from the tree Mari was leaning against, and then a dark pink one. The Merchant stared.
"...okay, I hate to sound ignorant, but given that I actually am... what the ******** is that?"

Galan just stared at the carpet. He didn't even want to know about the actual dead body, but now that the damn kid had actually acknowledged it he had to report it to Louis, and then the kid was gonna have some real ********' explaining to do. God, what was this guy's name again? Galan remembered there being an entire staff meeting called about this douchebag.
Endymion. That was it. Weird old-timey name. "Endymion, I'm a healer, not a goddamn miracle worker," Galan began, turning to look at the kid, only to see that oh, shocker, he was gone. Of course. Galan sighed, cracked his knuckles, and set to see what he could do on this Tadion a*****e.
「 Muna simply stood behind End, letting him do all the talking. Tadion was more of his responsibility, after all. Muna knew it wouldn't be right for him to be leading the two around for this kind of thing.
He decided not to mention to End that they could have checked for a pulse. The screw lodged in Tadion's stomach was discouraging enough, and Muna didn't want End to be there in case the professor discovered Tadion was dead. Not after all the work they had already put in and the emotional stress End was already currently experiencing. Muna...didn't have high hopes for Tadion. Muna was careful not to have high hopes for anyone.
Muna dragged his eyes off the two bodies when End turned around, eyes going wide and questioning when End faced him. He...wasn't really sure what to say after End finished, expression surprised. The way End said 'thank you' made Muna feel all weird and soft. While he personally didn't think he deserved it, it helped to soothe his nerves a bit and strengthen his resolve to stay calm for the moment.
Muna nodded as End sat down, watching him curl up within himself. Muna stood silently for a moment before he slowly crouched down, adjusting himself so he could sit next to End. Placing his chin on his knees, Muna faced the tree. He wondered what Naomi and Ari were up to.
You're welcome
The tree glowed, a shot of pretty light bursting through the sky. Muna squinted, watching the clouds slowly grow more gray. Though it wasn't for a noble reason or anything, End. I just wanted to be by your side
Muna felt his braid whip with the wind, and he watched as another shot of light went through the sky. So that was the power of the oak, huh. 」
