"I always took surnames to be more for personal identity than somebody else's." He had taken his own surname, which meant something in the elven language he grew up with. A few people had asked over the years, but he kept it to himself.
So she was an obnoxiously bubbly assassin. That was the last thing he needed, but it was amusing. It was a rare thing to see. The last time he came across an assassin's guild, they took it upon themselves to beat the bubbly out of all of their trainees.
"Interesting," he mused. "So the business of killing. At least it's a profession that is always in demand." Somebody always had to die. Several hundred years of living with humans taught him that.

"More of a life style over business. Business implies that at the end of the day you can walk away from it until you have to return to work." She fiddled with her mug. "No...definitely not a business, at least not for me." She glanced at the body by the door and sighed sliding her cup away from her no longer interested in the remaining coffee.

He folded his hands over the table, a smile quirking the corner of his lips. "I disagree. A business implies that at the end of the day, you get paid. Businesses are a way of life. Sometimes you don't get to walk away." He lived in a world where duty was everything. Most of his acquaintances lived their world. When he decided to do something, he certainly did.

"Maybe, if you don't get jipped. " She scowled before shaking her head, her hair falling back around her face breaking free from behind her ears. "Not that it would matter any way, currency holds no value. Not any more at least."
"Which reminds me." She held up her finger in a gesture for him to old on a second before she slipped out of her chair walking over to the door, purposefully planting a heel dead center on the corpse's chest before pulling the door open leaning out grabbing a bag dragging it in. The worn satchel bulged out in odd directions and shapes, and clearly had some weight behind it as she pulled it over to the table taking her seat again.
"Would hate to have to kill someone because they are too lazy to do their own looting." She said with a nod.

"You must get something at the end of the day." He paused and waited for her to return. When she sat back down, he inclined his head, as if making a point. "You get some profit at the end, obviously, in loot." She wouldn't be doing it if there wasn't something in it.

((There's a lot of scene. I felt obligated to fill in the big gap with something other than "Danny stood awkwardly in the doorway for the five hours it took me to get back here"))
Danny wandered wide-eyed around the café, trying to take in the clean brightness without touching anything. His hands, face and clothes were smudged with soot and dirt and he didn’t want to rub off on the pretty decor of the café. He didn’t belong, but he wanted to. He was mildly aware of other people in the café, and finally he turned toward the barista behind the counter. He held up his hands sheepishly. The barista smiled and handed him a wet towel. When Danny finished wiping his hands and face the barista set a cup of coffee on the counter with a wink and turned away. Danny hesitated for a moment, then took the cup gratefully. He saw the woman he’d nearly run over when he rushed in and walked over. “Hey. I’m Danny. I’m sorry about earlier.”

(Sorry Strali, when me and jade get going we get going. sweatdrop )
"Yeah, well in a way. Everyone loots. Its the only way you get stuff anymore, that or you kill to get it." She said lugging the satchel onto the counter before hesitating, her lips pursing in thought before suddenly standing up with the intent to head over to the corpse.
Instead though she stood up and strolled into the man whom she had inadvertently tripped. "Oh, my excuse me." She apologized, putting on her fake drawl again before smiling, having gripped onto his upper arms to steady herself. "First I leave men laying around on the floor then I'm walking into them." Laughing slightly before rolling her eyes. "Must not be my day for being graceful."

Larue drained the rest of his coffee and sat back, stretching his long legs underneath the table. It was so hard to relax back in Tarrin, but now that the two corrupted knights were out of the way, things should calm down.
"It sounds perfectly barbaric," he remarked nonchalantly.

((Bladewin: It’s okay, I just have bad timing. Ladi: That sucks! Hope you’ll be okay for Suwrimos!))
Startled, Danny helped the woman steady herself and smiled. “I get the idea that you’re used to causing trouble.” He glanced toward the body. “I just hope I don’t end up like him,” he said with smirk. Releasing her Danny took a step back, being both polite and cautious.

Tomie grinned slightly. "Don't sneak up on me and try and rob me and we should be okay." She muttered reaching out to lightly pat his cheek. Weather or not he let actually do it she'd shrug before weaving around him dropping to a crouch next to the corpse.
She'd eye the body before carefully removing the items on his belt setting them right next to her before unhooking the belt jerkally yanking the black leather from around the man's waist. "Won't be needing this anymore." She said confidently before gathering up the other stuff before carefully standing being sure not to flash anyone the goods under her skirt.

“Then I have nothing to worry about,” Danny said, keeping his expression relaxed. Despite her reassurance Danny had no intention of letting his guard down. He could tell she was from a different world than his, given her clothing, but things probably worked the same way. Strangers were not to be trusted; experience had taught him that. “By the way, any idea where we are?”

Tomie shrugged, returning to Larue and her's table setting her spoils on top. First thing was first she pulled the gun out of its holster looking it over, most importantly locating the safety. "Heaven? Though probably not. My guess would be that this is all a dream." She checked to make sure there wasn't a round in the chamber before popping out the clip inspecting the gun before reassembling it.
"If I would guess, that guy there is not the one on the floor and I am. After all he did get the drop on me. " She scowled before shoving the gun back into its holster checking the knife thumbing the blade before slipping it into her satchel of goodies. "Oh, right!" She exclaimed digging through the bag till she came up with some gold jewelery. "Hmm, I'd probably have to drink alot of coffee to make this a fair exchange...she mused looking over at the counter.

Larue lifted pale eyebrow, finally sighing. "It's between dimensions with an infinite conduit to all of them. As I understand it," he added. He had seen a place or two like this before. "You honestly don't think we're all from the same place?" They had their unique differences. They could obviously that their clothes styles did not match, but they seemed to have filtered the subtle differences that set him apart from humans.
He didn't expect them to all take him seriously. It wasn't an easy concept to grasp by all. He stood to order more coffee.
