Sabre smiled at her the perfect picture of ease. It was as though he and Amy hadn't been talking about anything other than the weather. "Sorry Mistress, if you want next time I can leave you with something to do." He suggested when he saw her looking around. He'd have to learn how to tell she was coming. That step was pretty loud, that was a good thing. There was at least one thing, now he needed to learn the others.

Alex nodded and said, “Please?” Amy put the last dish away with a slight smile. “Got your laundry put away?” She said in a teasing tone and laughed as Alex’s cheeks flushed again. “Miss. Amy… Yes, yes I did…” Alex said, looking away and heading out the kitchen. Amy shook her head, still smiling. “Oh, and don’t let Alex have any soda after dinner, she gets all jittery and won’t sleep a wink.” She said, as if all she and Sabre had been discussing was the weather and some things he needed to know.

Chuckling a little, Sabre turned leaning on the counter. "Certainly Mistress. And I will be careful not to Mrs. Amy. I'd hate to see her bouncing off the walls." He said with a slightly teasing tone. Frankly part of him wondered what on earth was so embarrassing about laundry but then again he didn't wear lacy underthings so that could be it.

“No kidding,” Amy said, smiling. “I don’t know how much she had last time but she was up until about noon the next day before she crashed on the couch.” Alex rolled her eyes from the other room, sitting on the couch Amy spoke of. What could she say? She was bored that time and wanted to see how long she could keep awake with soda in her system. But tonight, yes, Alex planed to try and sneak down into the kitchen to drink a soda. She didn’t want to have any nightmares tonight. Not on Sabre’s first day here. It was so much easier to crash without dreams than to try and hold a scream back.

Laughing again Sabre followed Alex out into the living room. Looking at her he already had a good guess as to what she was thinking but who knew, he wasn't that familiar with her yet. "Are you alright, Mistress? You seem distracted. Is everything ok?" He asked standing behind the couch.

Alex looked over her shoulder and smiled at Sabre. “Uh-huh. I’m fine. Why do you ask?” She said, cutting her sentences short and mind still going though how long she should probably wait and to remember to skip that third step. Somehow Alex managed to keep her ears upright when she spoke, hopefully not betraying her.

"If your sure Mistress. I was just wondering, you seemed lost in thought. Anything I can help with? I'm a good listener or so I'm told." Sabre said smiling as he leaned on the back of the couch. Oh yeah she was up to something. What he didn't know but he'd figure it out.

Alex smiled wider. “I’m sure you are, just trying to figure out how I should break it to my dad…” She said, and honestly, she should be thinking about. How would he react? Not only did she go outside alone, the number one rule, but she also bought someone. Of course, when Alex saw Sabre she was thinking for a friend, but through her father’s eyes Sabre was a male alone in the house, over night, with his daughter.

Sabre nodded as he listened to Alex. "A good thing to be concerned about. But I wouldn't fret to much Mistress, after all why worry when you have yet to cross that bridge? When your father finally does find out about me, it'll be to late to do anything about. After all he can't change the fact that you left alone." He said trying to reassure her. He kept hoping it'd be a while till he met this man. Sabre still found him very iritating and he hadn't even met him yet.

Alex nodded, taking in Sabre’s advice. “You’re right… He’s barely here anyways so…” She said and ended with a shrug, trying to sound like she didn’t care if he was here or not. To be honest, she kind of looked forward to his visits, even if she did have to not play the piano that day and he was still caught up with work. Alex didn’t mind having him around some days and she tried to do whatever she could to make him happy, looking for praise or acceptance from her father.

"So you still wish he'd be around more often. Less involved in his work, and paid more attention to you. Almost to the point where'd you do anything just to make him happy?" Sabre asked that small smile on his face again. This time though there was a bit of knowing in it as he spoke. Alex wasn't the only child in the world who'd wished that their father paid more attention to them. He just hoped he could make it easier for him.

Alex blinked, ears going back as Sabre hit the nail on the head. She nodded and said, “Yeah. He has a tendency to bring work home with him. But it must be important if he’s brining it home so I can understand kind of.” Alex looked down at the ground as her hands found the purple ribbon around her neck. “I still remember when he gave me this. It’s the first gift he gave me in person, no pretty wrappings, no cardboard box through the mail, and not planned…”

"Then cherish it. Any small moment, any small gesture, for they maybe all you have for a while. Hopefully he'll reliese what his missing before it's too late. But don't worry too much alright, Mistress?" Sabre said calmly, putting a hand on Alex's head again. It wasn't fun, knowing you weren't first in someone you care about's life. But sometimes there just wasn't anything you could do about it. He knew he'd try his hardest to make it easier for her.

Alex nodded, her ears still down. “Alright… Thank you Sabre,” She said, hand still on the ribbon. Her ears perked up slightly as Amy, who was finial satisfied with how the kitchen looked, walked out and to the living room. “Alright kiddies, I got to head home. Alex make sure you get to bed at a decent hour. Sabre, you get a good night’s rest, okay?” She said as she walked over and ruffled Alex’s hair. Alex smiled and jumped up to hug Amy who returned the hug. “Tell David I said hi please?” Alex said and Amy nodded.

Sabre looked up as Amy came out. "Good Night, Mrs. Amy. Please be safe on your way home." He said with a bit of a nod in her direction. Amy was starting to become one of his favorite people, she seemed very nice. A bit to his surprise, he hoped to see her more often. "Will we see you in the morning?" Sabre asked after a moment.
