ENVY IS NOT A GIRL! HE ISN'T IN A GIRL'S FORM EITHER! Check it out: 1) Envy does not have breasts. 2) Envy's body would be more curvaceous if he were a girl, e.g his thighs would be curvier. 3) Check this pic I found on Photobucket out:

I think Envy is androgenous (I think most of the homunculi are...) but takes on a male form. /begin spoilers/ Granted, we find out at the end of the series that he is in fact male, I'm pretty sure over time 'he' became more 'it'... /end spoilers/

Yeah, that's the right word for him. Androgynous. Most androgynous anime guys are hot! Kish from Tokyo Mew Mew, other people like Yuki from Fruits Basket, etc. XD Funny little world, isn't it? sweatdrop

*sighs* Thank you to everyone who says Envy is a guy, androgynous or an "it". They are all right. In a weird sort of way, he is anything BUT a girl or woman. In fact, I bet he'd kill you or torture you if you called him a girl. Envy was a guy, and takes on a guy's form, but his behaviour and him being a homunculi turned him into an "it". Which he has no objection to. Thank GOD we cleared that up *collapses*.

In the anime, Envy was originally the son of Hoenheim and Dante, making him Ed and Al's half brother. But after living for hundreds of years and shape shifting millions of times over again I'd have to guess that Envy doesn't consider himself a certain sex.
People who watch the dubbed version most likely believe Envy to be a woman because the voice actor who plays him is female.
However, in the manga, Envy's gender has not been clearly questioned as of yet. So for now we must accept Envy as a male. Considering his current state (a piranha with legs trapped in a jar), it may actually be best to call Envy an IT.

Envy is a boy, but in my opinion, I think he's just confused over his gender. He may even be gay for all we know! Neither the manga or anime say. ninja
