Krasny Oktyabr Damn gefreiter, I thought my Mosin was in good shape. That 91 puts my 38 to shame. it was most likely sanded and varnished, I have never seen one that was that shiney and hadn't had the owner/previous owner put varnish on the stock.

Some of the ones that'd been in surplus stocks for years looked rather nice. Mine is pretty decent looking, and it's all original.

Mine looked like that right out of the box from Fleet Farm. The only thing I've been doing was oiling the bolt like crazy to keep it that way. BTW Those M38s are turning into quite the collectors item. There seems to be a lot less of those flying around these days. All I see are 91's and 44's.

Lots of people think we ride horses too school!!!

I wanna ride a horse to school. XD
Nah, it's just that most people get confused with different livestock things. I know people who have never seen a living chicken in their life.
I live in the country compared to the rest of Maryland. It's more like... the farm-filled DC suburbs. We get all the run off from military bases and people who work in Washington. A lot of horse farms 'round here.

In some areas that's actually true, but most everywhere we have the same stuff every other state has. Except we have Parishes in stead of Counties. Not sure why...
