Deegrading Bats, BATS. Not rats. They're fast little jerks and they come in packs. Rats are more dangerous than bats. Especially in the later levels. Packs of 10-30 and some of them are stupid hard to kill. What class/race are you playing as?

@Fenix- Let me consult my magic ball. I think you are a skirt with polo shirts type of guy. xd No really, if I had to guess I'd say a flannel shirt and jeans type of guy?

Well I haven't made it that far, only played four times and I'm still getting used to the controls.
Rats go down easily for me and usually only show up in ones or twos, but bats dodge your hits and crap, and my animal is never around when they attack. They're also faster than your character and travel in packs of two or three.
I've only played the priest (human and elf) and the barbarian (orc).

Ah, okay. Most of the classes are weak as s**t to start with, not that that changes much when they level up. Some races are weird and aren't worth playing.
I suggest using the heavy combat classes to learn the game. Like dwarf/human/minotaur fighter/gladiator. Really basic. Just need weapons and armor as you go along and there's nothing retarded about them.
Then there's easy mode. Troll berserker.
Uses claws instead of any weapons. Doesn't fit into 99% of the available armor. Eats anything pretty much anything. Regenerates really fast. The only downside is that you get hungry really fast. Easily solved by butchering (c) the corpses of whoever you kill, since trolls like raw meat.
And when s**t hits the fan (a) abilities, then (a) Berserker rage to become an unstoppable killing machine.
