"I... actually don't doubt that for a second," Chris replied with a small smirk. "But we'll test the theory if you want. See if I can still drink like I used to."
He popped the collar of his moon coat at the appropriate time with a grin. "Moons work with Suns the most, but we're here to save everyone's asses really. Mists just aren't good enough at anything to be specialized," he said, flicking the other man's ear with a laugh.

The new hunter swallowed a bit, wincing at how dry his throat felt and just gave a little laugh. Rex could pick up on the friendship between all that teasing, and he found that a comfort, honestly. So he was Death and there were four others. Great.
"So.. Once I get situated I gotta get myself a weapon, eh? That'll be soemthin'. ...Lead the way then, I guess." Like he trusted himself to walk too much at this point, but at least these two would be with him. For now, anyway. "I mean, unless 's something else you've gotta tell me like I won the lottery or somehow married a pretty girl while I was sleeping."

"Well, he ain't that bad lookin'," Rex said, looking Dory over with a grin. He brought a hand to his face and rubbed at one of his eyes. His head was starting to pound, honestly. "So.. Husband, new friend, let's mosey, yeah?"

He felt heavy, as if his body had been resting too long, and now that he wanted it to do something it was protesting. Hands lifted, bracing against the smooth curve of the pod as he stumbled out of it. His eyesight was blurry, the objects in the room unfamiliar even if he could see properly. Bashshar sucked in a breath of stale air, the taste a little foul in his mouth, but he tolerated it. Perhaps he should have been concerned, but his disorientation was so severe that the idea of being worried didn't cross his mind.
Knees aching, Bashshar lowered himself down onto the floor, the cold tile a relief against the backs of his thighs, as if the few small steps out of the pod had stressed the muscles beyond belief. He leaned back, eyes screwing shut to block out the harsh glare of light beaming overhead. He really should be concerned now, but he wasn't even aware of who he was. That should bother him, really, but it didn't.
He kind of just wanted to be lulled back to sleep, and the cool floor was awfully inviting. The young man would simply tackle his problems one at a time, and right now his only problem was that he still felt tired. He also kind of felt like he had partied really hard the previous night, because his head hurt like a b***h. Didn't someone know to turn the lights off? Finally, his eyes seemed to adjust to the glare, and he could look down the row of uniform pods, some empty, some obviously filled.
He didn't really want to go looking around, however. Instead he looked up to his pod, eyes narrowing as he caught his name on the side. Oh, that was right. His name was Bashshar Kinsley, and yes, helpful name tag, he was already aware of his own gender. Thoughts were returning to him slowly, distant and hard to grasp. He'd have to let them come to him, and obviously they weren't all going to come at once. But, he could wait. He was good at that.
"Damn," he whispered, his voice hoarse from disuse, though it had always been a little rough. He knew he should move, he knew he should do something, but he didn't. Bashshar simply didn't feel like it.

The beeping that signalled a pod was opeing at first made her curious as to how to stop it. She certainly didn't want to deal with new hunters, much less welcome them to a life of suffering, murder, death and all that came with but alas, that was her duty. The duty she had until 3 that afternoon. Yet- "Ohhhh this one is kinda cute." She had to say, the job had it's perks. Walking over boots clicking on that same cold tile floor. Not exactly touching the man nor offering any bodily help she leaned closer and grinned before saying- "I would recommend stretching a bit. You're body has been in a singular position for a while so stiffness could be a problem." Two steps back, she gave him some more room. "Your mind will clear up soon too- The drugs they use and whatever else fades soon enough but you'll adapt to it later on. Oh!" She bounced on her heels, another click on the tile. "Welcome to Desu proper trainee candidate who's name looks really complex so I'm just going to call you Bass."

A girl? He would have been more enthused if his head wasn't pounding, or if he even knew who she was. But, he acted out on her advice anyways. It sounded reliable enough, and so Bashshar stretched his arms out in front of him, pulling gently on the muscles and tendons. He did the same with his legs, though he was wary about stretching too much. Who knew how long he had been stuck in that cocoon... pod thing? His body may very well not be up to strenuous movements, and getting out of the pod had been a complete chore.
He looked back to his name, dark brown eyes squinting at the letters before the proper pronunciation came back to him. "It's Bashshar," he enunciated carefully, hoping that she would catch on. But, he didn't put much faith in it. "Bas'll do just fine, I guess." His voice sounded foreign, he could believe it came from another person if his own lips weren't forming the words. A hand reached for his throat, gingerly massaging his neck as if that would warm up his voice and return it to normal.
"Uh, thank you." At least he had manners. "This, kind of sounds familiar," he waved it off with a hand. Well, whatever was going on, he doubted there was much he could do to change it. Pieces of memories were just beyond the reach of his fingertips. Hopefully, the drugs would wear off soon.
"Okay, so, what am I a trainee for?" Since he couldn't recall it at that moment, he wouldn't mind being a little filled in. Other things that should concern him, like how long he had been asleep, and why he had been put to sleep, weren't as important. The answer to those things could wait, if he remembered to ask them.

He was trying- and getting somewhere at least with that whole moving thing. To help him, she figured the best thing was to clap for a short while and say 'Yeah, just like that! Little at a time- I'd help but I don't know if you might just kinda trip all over and we'd both end on the floor- nobody should get hurt for the sake of speed, even if Life says 'get them out in under ten' or whatever." She waved it off. Since when did Death listen to Life anyway? "Okay... Bas." She figured that would be a safe name. An easy one to remember and one without anything hard to memorize. "Uh.. Deus ex Machina? It's the organization you joined. It's okay, it took me a while to remember all the details of that whole deal thing they talked about before you joined." "To fight what humans, that is, what normal humans cannot see in the shadows." She offered him a small hand up. "Or perhaps we're out to save the world- depends on who you talk to really. Really, I'd just like to keep everyone safe."

Bashshar really did not need his own cheering squad to motivate him to move, but he did nothing to shrug off her support. He was sure she'd tire herself out eventually, or have one finally hoorah! when he finally did get up and around. "Yeah, it's fine. You don't have to help. I'll get this down in a couple of minutes," he had learned to walk once, he could do it again! Rather, it wasn't so much re-learning as it was getting his muscles to stop stiffening.
Right, he was totally not following the young woman's train of conversation. Motto here, support there, the bare minimum was what Bashshar was taking from this at the moment. "Oh, good, so long as I joined it I guess this is pretty okay then." Should he believe everything that he was being told, probably not, but he did anyways. The girl looked honest, and he saw no reason to doubt he'd join some sort of organization dedicated to saving humanity. Actually, this sounded pretty cool. He could roll with it.
"It's not coming back to me yet," Bashshar informed her as he reached out to take her hand. With her aid, he was able to pull himself back up onto his own two feet with relative ease. He was sure walking around was still going to be a b***h, but it was something he'd simply have to endure. "Well, I guess a little of it has. I remember seeing things..." Not that these things had particularly frightened him, or at least he didn't recall being scared. No, he'd been accepting. It had just been the way the world was.
"Wow, I must have been one weird kid," he remarked, and flashed Solia a brief, easy smile.

Alas, Solia did have to help- or try to at any rate. Granted her help was pointless but she did try. She did try, which was more than what could be said of other hunters. "Give it time. I was pretty... okay? I had a wake up buddy but-" Brown eyes scanned the pods. Just him had woken. Both a blessing and a bit sobering. No one to at least have that could relate on hand to such event. Ah well. "Waking up as one could mean that you're all the more qualified than others! So congrats! You are awake while so many still sleep!" Or were waiting to be killed. She left that sad part out. "And don't say that okay?" She smiled warmly, reaching into her coat and offering him a small stick of gum- cinnamon. "No one is really weird here.. Like.. Um.." She clicked her fingers. "Ici, vous êtes normal." She smiled again at him, seemingly pleased with her choice of words- french or no. "The island, that is, Deus ex, is a place where you're around others like you. Weird is not.. weird like it is outside? So don't think yourself as such! In fact we've very special! The fact you've been chosen to woke up means you're even more special- You've been chosen to become a hunter!" Israfel cooed with delight in her head. It all sounded so nice to her own ears. Being 'normal' and 'special'.

"Thank... you?" He wasn't quite sure what he was more qualified for, but she seemed to be pleased with him, and he supposed that he liked being awake far more than he liked being stuck sleeping. There were... a lot of pods, and most of them looked like they were occupied. He had to wonder just how many people were here, waiting to wake up or to be woken up. In fact, he had no idea why he was awake and the others weren't. What made him so different from them that he had... hatched.
"I... don't speak Spanish," he informed her, but Bashshar believed he got her point. They were probably all similar here, at least in being able to see the things that lurked in the shadows. It was a little comforting, to at least know he had something in common with the plenty of people who were supposed to be here. He had a feeling it had always confused him as a child, that he could see things that others could not.
"That does sound pretty cool," Bashshar admitted. Testing the limits of his body, he took a few careful steps forward, though was respectful enough of Solia's space to not invade it completely. "So, I'll be a hunter then? I'm assuming that I'll be hunting the things I've seen." He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but he also wasn't a complete bumbling idiot. "I guess I can get on board with this. I guess I already said that I would, too?" Well, for one thing, he at least seemed to accept his new life without blinking an eye.

Spanish. He thought she spoke... Spanish.Solia wasn't sure to laugh or cry of maybe just do both because it hurt her yet it was also rather funny. "I am French." She whispered at him as if they were around anyone else and it actually mattered. "French American. But French." He just looked cute. And dark. And brooding. And that was a killed hot combo woah dang, why did all the boys have to be too cute on the island. Israfel laughed in her head, a lite trill, calling Solia a little pecker checker. That inner discussion deviation had Solia looking down... then up. She really hated how casual the siren could be at times. "Hrm yeah. So long as you don't die. I mean, it happens but not a lot!" At least on the first day. No need to let him know the real full long term statistics after all. "You doing good now, feeling a bit better or able to walk?" She lingered nearby, ready to help if needed. "You will have someone waiting for you down at the cave so.. I really don't want to keep you waiting!"

"Oh."
Oh.
Well, Spanish and French were both foreign, she couldn't really blame him for guessing wrong... could she? He was familiar with, perhaps, the bare minimum of the languages, and the hashed out English version of them to boot. Hearing someone speak fluidly in French was a little mind-boggling, especially since he had just woken up. He still wasn't sure what exactly she had said, and he hoped it wasn't important. "Sorry, maybe you can teach me some French some time?" There, he hoped his offer to spend more time with her was well-received, and hopefully smoothed over the potential insult.
"I don't remember... much about dying being mentioned," but then again he didn't remember a whole lot right now. At least she had mentioned it to him, and really, she made it seem like the odds of him kicking the bucket were rather low. Cool, he could do this hunter thing!
"Yeah, I'm fine. Probably shouldn't move too fast, but I've got this," he reassured the girl. Though, her next words earned a vaguely puzzled expression from the young man. "Oh... kay," he said at length, his tone just slightly questioning. He made careful progress to the door leading down towards the cave, and then glanced back at Solia.
He didn't quite feel confident about this, and she hadn't exactly told him who he was going to meet down there. "I'll... see ya later, I guess." Well, it wasn't like him to stall or be indecisive, so he walked out of the room to go meet this person he was supposed to.

Dakota tapped the clipboard to a strange beat on one of the many sleeping pods.
Pod duty was booooooooooooooring. It was quieeeeeeet and boooooooring and he wondered when or if he'd be lucky to greet a newbie to the team.
Since he was stuck here, he tweeted like a madman, mostly harassing Marcus because why not. He loved harassing Marcus. Things about his new eye problems, things about flavored blood packs. More sandwiches.
Dakota wanted a sandwich.Cheekiebirdiee Hey guess where you are? The dark cove. Look down, now look up. You're awakening from your pod....

Having been in a strange yet peaceful sleep, the annoying sound of incessant bangs was driving him crazy. "Shut the hell up.." Very groggily a warning was delivered for the noise, no doubt it was his mother being annoying just to wake him up, what was it noon? Couldn't she just piss off for once? Was it that much of a crime to sleep in past eight?
Slowly very slowly violet eyes started to crack open, wincing back shut as a painfully bright light assaulted them. Groaning softly his limbs stretched, before meeting a resistance as they bumped against the pod he was contained in. This time when violets opened they were wide, panicked and a little wild. Instantly his hands shot up to push against the oval containers top, much like someone buried alive would bang at the top of the casket. "Get me the hell out of here!" A loud shout burst from his dry throat, only as he freaked further with a new hissing noise. What was happening? Had he fallen asleep on the subway home and gotten kidnapped!? Flailing inside the pod, it was only after a few moments that bits of memory start to flood back but none to helpful in explaining where he was.
