Final Fantasy 13 is fine up until you get to the missions at the end which will crush your dreams into a fine powder, add it to a milkshake, then force you to choke it down.
That said.
Orange team sucks.

That just means LEVEL UP MOAR.
I s'pose I'll get it... Use it to my advantage to see a certain someone at the least. Doubt I'll be doing much over my break.

Darshendros the Eternal That just means LEVEL UP MOAR. There's no level system. It's more like a vague job system. Also, at some point if you're trying to finish all the side quests you fight against three enemies that can kill you instantly just because they feel like it. And are also immune to everything. *Splits his milkshake for Fen and Darsh.*

Wha'? No level system? ... in a Final Fantasy? That sounds as bad as a magic system based on drawing the abilities out of monsters you fight but don't really ever learn.
*Plops a straw into milkshake*
But there's swords though, right? Have to at least be swords.

It's basically an amalgamation of other systems. Each character has a set of jobs that you can assign before or during battle - the "experience" you earn, you can use towards successive upgrades on the board, like HP, Strength, Magic, abilities, etc.
You can also upgrade your weapons for increased Strength and Magic. And Lightning has a sword... gun... thing. It's not as stupid as that thing that Squall had, but for lack of a better way to describe it it's a sword that folds into a gun.

Eh. Guess I'll get it. Ratings from the gaming mags seem good. BUT WHAT DO THEY KNOW?!
Or maybe I'll play through MGS4 super-duper-hard mode again.
WTB more tactical espionage games.

Shut up Dee. Or I'll make a move on your nonwhites.

A lot more racist-sounding than I had considered, but I'm not going to correct myself.

Most people seem to like the game, then complain that it's too easy / too hard / too linear / not linear enough / doesn't have Roman numerals equaling seven.
As someone who wouldn't consider himself a fan of the Final Fantasy games, I'm enjoying it, aside from some of these side-missions. They're not essential for finishing the game, but I tend to be a completionist. Which isn't a word.
