"I don't doubt that," answered Marcus. Several minutes later, he picked himself up from the table. "Now, my courtier, you have to write your letter to your father. And say something about how I wish he and my grandmother good health."

Terryn sighed and remained sitting. "I suppose so. Poor man will not be expecting this." She asked one of the servants for some staionery.

Marcus shrugged, albeit sympathetically. "Perhaps we could invite them to Russia, if all goes well." He striaghtened up, trying to mentally prepare himself for his meeting. "And now, I must go bid farewell to the maids." He gave Terryn a last departing grin, and left.

Terryn nodded and began composing her letter. It was rather difficult to pen the fact that they would not see each other for quite some times. She felt that sense of homesickness and apprehension flowing through her again. And what if Marcus found some other woman in Russia? She could very well be pushed to the side like the rest of his old lovers.

At about noon, Marcus hoisted the last of their things into the coach and looked back towards Terryn. The driver kept winking at Terryn, under the impression that this one was another fallen woman, and it made Marcus want to smile. "Are you ready?"

Terryn nodded and raised an eyebrow at the driver. "I think your coachman fancies me or something."

"You think?" asked Marcus with a straight face, helping her into the coach. "He's just waiting for some opportunity in which you can dive into his arms. Don't be bothered by it, though. He's like that with almost everyone."

"Ohhhh, one of those old, lecherous types." Terryn took her seat and grinned at him. "Maybe he is your long lost father."

Marcus motioned for the coachman to begin, and the coach creaked a few times before beginning to move. "Yes, I've considered that," answered Marcus sarcastically, before pulling out a deck of cards. "Begger your neighbor?"

I can not say I know that game." Most of Terryn's recreation had been in the form of weapons trining, tough at times she would take to reading. She was never big on cards, thinking of them as a passing fad.

OOC: I've decided that Terryn reminds me a little bit of George Eliot.
The next few hours passed by enjoyably, if monotonously. Marcus had taught Terryn to play, being rather good at cards himself, and realized that Terryn was, at times, as contemptous as the Duchess herself. And that was saying something.

((really now?))
"I won...right?" Terryn blinked as she piled up the card's again, shuffling them with a little difficulty, as the cards were rather long and clumsy. She was having a good time, not even noticing the changing scenery as they travelled through the different countries. They had even had to take a ship at one point to cross the English channel back to mainland Europe, which made Terryn glad that she had never been susceptible to sea sickness.

OOC: Yes'm. And that's definitely a compliment.
"Tied again," Marcus sighed. They'd been traveling for two days, stopping only for food and a few hours' nap for the driver. He had taught Terryn every simple game he could remember, and it was a good way to waste time. But even cards had to get old at some point.

((yay! yay also for my dad bringing his laptop to mass with us))
Terryn frowned. "I think I have played as many card games as I possibly can." She placed the cards to the side and leaned in to kiss him. "I want to play something different."

OOC: Big yay for your dad. I didn't know that was allowed. And my little brother discovered Google and Googled 'rhichi' because he wanted to make sure you're not going to rape me over the internet (here, I'm paraphrasing; he's 7), and he decided that you're a celebrity, and you should know that.
Marcus smiled, rubbing at his eyes. "I've only brought cards. We should be arriving later today. And now, you know that you could feel right at home in any tavern in Europe." He cracked one of his knuckles, a sure sign that he was apprehensive. He'd gone over a thousand plans in his mind, and had slept a total of four hours last night.
