Ok, I have finally been able to get a hold of Ed, and she isn't dead. As tempting as that is to believe it isn't true. Apparently the s**t has hit the fan, and the next couple of weeks for her are more or less when everything important for the semester is due, and she is trying to turn out a documentary, a whole bunch of essays, and a screenplay all within the next couple of weeks (like two I think, and I'm pretty sure more things were mentioned, but I can't remember). Though she did promise me she would be back.

Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. I've been more than a little stressed out, sick, more stressed out, busy, stressed out, and with a concussion. Did I mention I was stressed out?
Anyway, things should be easing up a little bit here in the next few weeks, so things should start to be good. Though until I get my ten minute documentary done I'm not sure how much time I will have.

I think that I actually had the Vic voicemail as my actual voicemail for awhile... I had to change it because most people didn't get the reference and were just confused.

*Bounces around* "Ender Ender Ender Ender what a stupid name"- Peter Wiggin
I heart Peter a little too much. Who doesn't like a meglomaniac who is forced to live in his little brother's shadow?
Ender in Exile finally came in (my bookstore had to order it for me) <3 I'm so having a fangirl moment

Sorry, I was in such a fangirl hyper mood. I blame finals and the book.
Ender's Gamewas a short novel that spawned a book that then created an entire series that features the futuristic universe according to Orson Scott Card.
Most people have at least heard of the book, if not by name then by its main idea were that children are so brilliant they can win a war by thinking it's a game. Here's an artist interpretation of the "final exam/simulation":

The poor kid crying and playing the simulation would be Ender. He was pushed to his limit; physically and mentally. Some days he wouldn't have much sleep and when he did he would awake from nightmares to find he was biting his hand. He had no idea, at the time, that he was commanding starships light-years away, or that by winning the game (in his typical fashion of winning, which was complete and total defeat of the enemy) that he would be committing xenocide. When he does learn the truth, he is overwhelmed with guilt.
The rest of his series has him coping with what he's done. He discovers more about the Formics, the aliens that had attacked Earth and had sparked the pre-emptive attack by the Earth to destroy them before they could attack again. He learned that the people of Earth had thought wrong, that the Formics, upon realizing that Earth was populated by an intelligent species were never going to return. He is determined to right the wrongs he did to the species and spends the rest of his life doing that, and protecting others. He really was a good kid. Efficient and manipulated, but a good kid
~*~
Orson Scott Card also wrote a companion series/parallel series which explores what happened on Earth after Ender's semi-voluntary exile. Since there was no longer an outside threat to unite them, the countries of Earth returned to doing what they did best... fighting amongst themselves. The "Shadow" series follows Ender's strategist friend from Battle School (the academy where they trained the children for the impending Bugger (Formic) attack, Bean, as he combats his greatest rival and his own genetic disease while trying to help Ender's (slightly bratty, intelligent, egomaniac of a) older brother unite the world under one rule: Peter's (Ender's brother). All Card's books have complex characters and differing viewpoints and he addresses a lot of moral, theological, and political issues. They’re simply amazing books. Ender in Exile, his latest one tied the two series together. It was mainly from Ender’s view, or rather his timeline, but a lot of the mains from the novels made appearances, like Peter and Virlomi. It was especially interesting to be able to see some perspective from Colonel Graff, since he was rather like an enigma throughout both series. I don’t want to give any spoilers but there is also resolution to what happens to Bean’s child too. ^^ (Bean’s children were kidnapped during the Shadow series by his rival, Achilles, and all but one was recovered. You finally find out what happens to the last child).
I can’t wait till Card comes out with his next book, hopefully it ties in what happened to Bean at the end of the Shadow series..
Okay… I’m pretty sure that was more of me babbling… but it made sense to me. Honest.
