Elias you have to physically study the language to learn it. You can't just learn it because you searched through books. There are too many double meanings for symbols.

Well, think about Elias had to physical learn the language, like he learned Nauhtl, becuase he needed to master the magicks that were locked in those books and unless he understood the meanings exactly, he wasn't going to be able to use the spells, or is it safe to say that no, I can't use the ilatizied purple text?

If Elias studied and learned the language then he can speak it. If he didn't he can't. Simple as that.
