Welded a miniature paint mixer up that i can just put in the chuck of the drill today for mixing epoxy with. Tired of mixing epoxy with popsicle sticks and tongue depressors.
Welds are starting to look pretty good and i got a real welding helmet now so i don't have to worry about blinding myself. Missed 2 day's of work last week due to catching the flu but im doing better now so hopefully no more sick day's. Got my tax returns back and i'm happy with my savings account for the first time in a long time. Got seed catalogs recently and we're going through deciding what we want to plant (gotta choose soon). So yeah...i think that's all i've been up to lol.

I moved into a better apartment. The physical apartment is pretty much equal to our last, but our last landlord was cuh-razy so now we are safer.
We have only been in higher-up apartments before with the cats, and now it is a semi-basement with loose outside cats all around us, and one of our cats DOES NOT like cats coming near our windows! She stalks the windowsill hissing and yowling at them, it's absolutely hilarious to watch. We try to go outside to pet them once she "alerts" us to their presence biggrin
We've been slowly working on our first aid kit, but my boyfriend has a slightly higher-paying job now, so we should be able to accelerate our purchases. Same with other useful stuff. I feel like this place would be noticeably less good in a "bad situation" in which I might need extended supplies. It seems a lot harder to hide our presence here than in an apartment building.
We are probably getting 2 or 3 new baby mice in the next couple of weeks, because my girl-mouse is all alone again and she gets a bit mopey about it sometimes. Someone nearby had a litter so that I don't have to buy from the horrible pet shop here that was very inconsiderate last time I went there.
I got myself an overpriced miniature rose plant for Valentine's Day. It was diseased or something, so I exchanged it and the new one is doing much better. The last one, the leaves were turning light + spotty and then falling off, and I had only had it 4 days. They seem really cramped, so now that I have my dirt bag from my last place, I might split them up. They have a bunch of teeny tiny plants growing in a 4-inch pot.

Just catching up on all I missed, novel to commence: Teh_plague Warning this is very long and i don't know a shorter way of describing it without being far too vague. Found some recipe's for homemade mead Thanks for such a detailed description! I really appreciate it. I think it's one of those jobs where you take things for granted (consumers) without really knowing the actual process. You have no idea how insanely jealous I am if you get bees. emotion_8c I really really want some but can't because of the bears here. Please gimme all the details so I can live vicariously through you. I hope our next place will have space to make drinks. I'd like to make kombucha. How much honey do you need for mead? [Kegan] I still need to learn how to mix my own glazes. I have always been pretty good with chemistry, so I might even teach myself. I just feel like that'd be a much bigger investment, when I don't even know if I'll have access to a potter's wheel after this semester. How do you mix glazes? I guess it's not the same as simply mixing paint? sezuko I've been on pinterest so I learned a few new things. I just signed up to Pintrest. I love the diy/repurposes. I saw this old cheese grater spray painted a pretty blue and now used to hold earrings. @EDC - I don't typically carry anything. Depending if I take my big sweater, I'll have on my keys a powerful pete. In my backpack, I have a waterproof sack that I'm slowly (too slowly!) filling with stuff. I have a leatherman, matches, bandaids, a crank flashlight with radio and USB charger. I was given survival books for Christmas which I've browsed through. WildBrain It says blonde, my hair got from blonde to brown. x3 Oh dear. Hope you like it? I once henna'd my hair and ended up with green patches. HorsesOfTheNight http://www.1-costaricalink.com/costa_rica_fauna/reptiles_bushmaster_picture.htm Have you gone yet? Did you get to see it? sunsetsmile Well, I finally started carrying a handbag again, so there's tons of room for stuff. How big is that bag?! eek My first pin! (On a website.) Thanks for linking. <3 Ha! I just got an email about people repinning my pin. Oriole Lyric I decided since no one will hire me due to my lack of public speaking and self confidence, that I will work on it, by volunteering at the Aquarium. the 9 hour training yesterday was brutal. @_@ first 4 hours were alright the last 5hrs I thought I was going to be too burnt out to drive home. How's the aquarium going now? I think that'd be the bee's knees. I hope it all works out for you. xD Your avatar made me do a double take. A guard cat? @ Plauge: So happy! It's so great to have a decent amount in your bank. What kind of seeds are you looking at? --- I got my school books on Saturday. It's scary because I'm kinda hard on myself which makes me quit. xd An adventure indeed. Edit: It's been warm (but we do have snow, go figure) and it looks like my plants are budding. Most of them have made it: linkAnd a funny video of a squirrel duel: http://youtu.be/Jb5uNyXhfN0

The aquarium is strict so I can't start until I find a pair of khaki pants. >( Who knew it would be so hard to find size 0 and 1 khaki pants that can be abused.

That's tough. gonk The only thing I can suggest is to scour the second hand shops. If you can get something for $10 and have it adjusted for $10, $20 isn't too bad for toss away pants.

@pirhan:
no problem, its a bit too easy to write a novel about my job though lol.
Bee's in April lol. Already ordered em and we're getting the honey supers and everything ready on our off day's in the meantime. I will post as much as i can about it throughout the summer.
The mead recipe i'm looking at calls for 12 pounds of honey and 4 gallons of apple juice couple of cinnamon sticks and yeast. So i figure i'll try making a batch of that. Also maybe a batch of a hard peach cider. It takes amazingly little space to make drinks, At least for hard cider and mead all you need is maybe one square foot of space to let it stand in and age. Preparation takes a little more room because i like to put everything out on the kitchen table and whatnot so i can do things quickly when i get going.
I'm personally interested in tree's at the moment mainly apple, pear, and peach but i'm not 100% sure that a peach tree would do well here. I can't buy them right now anyways because we rent and my landlord would probably have a fit (but i will only be here for another year should have enough saved to put a downpayment on a house then or at least rent a bigger place in the country more). If i'm very careful i could save up at least 8-10k this year.
What kind of bachelors degree are you going for btw?

No, it's pretty tricky to find ultrasmall sizes in thrift stores (usually). And I haven't heard of anyone fixing pant sizes for that little money, and I'm in a pretty small town. resizing pants is at least an hour's skilled labor. What I would actually recommend is that if you are fairly uncurvy, definitely look in cheap department stores for the largest size of girls or boys pants. My boyfriend is 24 years old, but the last pants we bought him were the largest size in boys' black pants, because he needs Small or XSmall, and those just don't exist in Men's cheap clothing sections. Khaki pants, I would agree, are very tricky to find in smaller sizes because small-sized stores are trendy and khakis are not trendy. They won't accept black work pants? They are made of the same tough fabric as khakis, just...black. And much easier to find! ----- My cat would make a kickass guard cat. But only against other cats (she hates them cat_rofl ). And also, I wouldn't let her, because I would be worried for her. I saw a cat get hit by a bicyclist just this week, and nobody (not him nor the car that stopped to ask if he was ok nor the other pedestrians) so much as attempted to look for the cat to make sure it was ok! I told the person in the home it ran and hid near, but everyone else had already left and didn't even bother. We've seen 5 strange cats so far outside, in only a week and a half. And only in our own front yard!

(I plan on doing that project if my mother ever gets a new cheese grater.) Since we're on the topic of cheese graters, I even saw a really neat candle centerpiece done with cheese graters. It looked very rustic.

Teh_plague @sezuko: the mason jar chandelier sounds interesting, do you have a link by chance? I do not have a link, but I do have the image. And I'm sure if you know the basics about electrical wiring you could do it. (And if you don't know how it shouldn't be too hard to learn with the internet right before you.) You might be able to find a tutorial if you google it.

@ Pirhan: Pretty much just a standard size tote, shoulder or crossbody style. The radio/light/siren/etc. thing is about the size of a normal flashlight, and is the biggest thing in there. It's huge to me, since I like to just run with what's in my pockets, but I'm getting used to it, and there's still tons of room. Lots of pockets! Nowhere near the size of the bag that one of the girls carries, she's always hauling changes of clothes for either the hospital or work, complete with shoes, and lunch. Whew! Now SHE'S a strong one!
@ teh_plague: What kind of bees? It's beetime here, too, and there are lots of people selling Russian bees. Since we have honeybees here, anyway, I'm wondering if I should buy some particular type? Don't want "bee wars" to result in the loss of the natives. Mead is huge here. Lots of Ren Faires and re-enactors here, and such, and people just like to homebrew. Some of the online brewing supply sites also have links to huge mushroom-at-home places. I'm not sure about a peach there, either. Maybe a grafted multi-variety tree would work. Don't forget that you can get your trees, plant them in pots, and sink them in the ground. Then you can gain a year's growth if they're hardy varieties, and pop them up to take them with you when you find another place. Big plastic nursery pots will work just fine, just punch lots of holes in the sides and don't completely bury them. Some roots will grow out, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Oh! And before you "plant" them, knock them out of those pots and be sure there are no roots circling the plant! Trim them or loosen them up if there are, and let the trees with trimmed roots sit out of their pots for a few hours to allow the cut ends to seal before you stick them back into their pots and plant them.
I am so tempted to really get the garden started! Can't jump in with both feet, though, I know how the weather is around here!

I haven't been here in so loooong. D; But I've been so busy with work and such that the interwebz has taken a back seat. What hasn't though, is the crafting/creating/etc that I still don't seem to have time for but I manage to squeeze it in anyway. I've got a job at a craft store so being inspired has become quite a daily occurrence. So in the last month I've made myself a new purse as well as purchased some patterns to make reusable grocery bags -- I just need the right material for them. And I've stumbled upon a nifty site called Sprout Robot that has helped me start up my broccoli and snap peas at the right times so they're both sprouting and growing up quite nicely. But I'm most excited about the fact that we're trying to buy a house which means I'd actually have more SPACE to garden in. Fingers crossed. Hopefully I'll be able to stop in more often too. I miss you all. D;
