it's more a SS3/4 thing.
i haven't given it much real thought... you have your own goal, but how will you go about it? heaven groove is for those who are thinking about making sure their team all gets through, while hell is for those who are focused on their goal, and is willing to trust the team to have no weak links. it's not good/evil, though it accepts the implication of the groove title. i don't imagine someone like ryugi getting so mad as to KILL SOMEONE with his sword, even if he were played in hell groove, but his Hell Route storyline would have him question himself and... stuff. Likewise, i don't see someone like Ra'kar refraining from throwing people off roofs in her Heaven Route, but she won't throw the killer fireball after them, and will put up with her teammates whining about her tactics.
Assuming everyone has an alignment, the story's overarching goal doesn't change, points A and B are likely to stay much the same. There may be a "Good" and "True" ending depending on the path taken... another scene, another line of dialogue [go to hell lolifox... take away that red underline, that's an acceptable spelling], something more fitting that char. the difference between lazenca walking into the sunset and dropping the money off somewhere... and lazenca talking to rage, then walking into the sunset and dropping the money off somewhere. small things, but those true endings would fit for... foreshadowing the next tourney or that char's real path. or something.
i imagine that there'll be one junction in the path, when one can switch between heaven and hell in a cutscene... dependant on an answer, a choice.
PATH: Storyline route. GROOVE: Fighting style, dictating usable moves, features [dash vs. run, overhead attack vs. dodge], and how the super meter is charged [attacking vs. taking attacks/successful dodges].
...it's all analogous ideas, nothing concrete.

...I just imagine Heaven/Hell groove as Athan vs ALPHA in contrast to say, Athan vs Kael.
Or if we're going to use actual examples, Athan vs Vahn in contrast to Athan vs Bella.
