At the sound of clinking she glanced up and looked over, marking her page in her book with her finger then her eyes widened at the sight of those stones. They were really very useful now weren't they? She let the multicolored stones fall into her hand and make that delightful clinking sound, then shook them in her palm a little bit. Interesting. "I'll certainly give it a try. Looking at everything I've come up with so far, I should probably be able to get a basic potion together in the next week or so. Of course then comes the trial stage and I really want to know if there's anyway to make our two plants work together. I believe with the right components they can be extremely proactive, much the way our two subraces can be. It would be the ultimate discovery for me...I'm sure I don' t need to tell you how big it would be if I could discover some potion to raise fertility to an almost undeniable rate in surface elves..." Those little stones made their way into her top pocket where they would probably remain for quite a while, but she did intend to use them. "How soon can you get me some blossoms Kieran? Cost is not an issue either," she added on for his benefit. Another stir to the semi-foul smelling liquid stewing in her pot. Almost done.

Kieran gave a light chuckle. "You'd be a revolutionary, that's for sure..." And he knew a few thins about that not didn't he? "I can get you some..mmmm...by tomorrow evening I'm sure. And of course cost is not an issue, because you won't have to pay anything. Our apothecaries have some stored, seeing as they have other medical uses. Every spring they make sure to gather some and dry them out, store them away, just so that they have some on hand until the next spring rolls around." A little drumming of blue tipped fingers on the table before he popped another one of those stones into his mouth, pulled the bag shut and tucked it back away in his surcoat.

She was tempted to pop one into her mouth just to see why he liked them so much but hesitant to try anything that she wasn't sure how it would react in her system. She'd have better luck with Underdark variety things anyway. Her bangs floated down to obscure her face and she used two fingers to immediately tuck them back behind her ear as easily as she could. Just a little bit longer and they wouldn't be falling down all the time. A small shake of her head, "And here I was hoping it might cost Malik a little something...oh well, I'll just have to make up for it in my fees." She chuckled lightly then tilted her head and studied Kieran for a moment. "Spring...I don't think I've ever really known what that is..." There were no seasons in the Underdark, it was always cold, always dark and always damp. That was just the Underdark. For someone like Zahara, who'd never seen the surface, she didn't know anything about seasons or the like. A spring to her was a little metal piece that allowed for the movement of objects in a semi-controlled pattern. A nifty little invention really.

"I would say that it wouldn't cost him much anyway...seeing as currency down here is steel, and Andal has no monetary system. It's all a trade system, values of goods being measures in weight and amount rather than any set standards. Can trade a horse for an exquisite blade if the two traders in question found it a fair trade by quality standards." Ah yes the trad system, much less bothersome than a form of currency.

Though that look of 'oh yes, that eludes you', but not patronizingly so. And being who he was, he had to then enlighten her. "Spring...it's a season on the surface. A time of growth and rebirth you could say...plants grow, wildlife tends to birth then too. The air is warm, not too hot as is the water, rain tends to come more, the sun doesn't shine too harsly."

She sighed good naturedly and adjusted the heat under the bubbling pot, one dark shoulder coming up in a shrug. "Ah well, I could have tried but I suppose Malik will get off relatively easy." She studied the brewing liquid for a moment calculating in her mind then pulled a vial from what seemed to be thin air and using the scooped spoon, poured the potion into the vial. Capping it, Zahara slipped the incandescent greenish liquid into her skirt pocket and focused her full attention on Kieran. "The Season of New Beginnings....I've heard of it before, I just never experienced it. They used to speak of it in books...Spring..." Her eyes sparkled in wonderment as she thought about the sun and the water, more creatures born, not Underdark creatures but the kinds of animals she'd found in books in Malik's library. "Spring brings rain, water from the sky...I think I'd like to experience this Spring..." A fleeting thought prompted her to ask, "Will it be Spring when Piper does this wedding?"

Perhaps. It depends upon thier planning and timing. The council they plan to attend, happens in the late season of winter..." wait, she didn't know that either he supposed, "...a cold time when rain freezes to ice as it falls, and things look dead though they are not. It's winter there now. Though that's easily told by Fianna's clothing." Indeed the wood elves dressed to match the changing of the trees they held dear. In winter, they wore white over thier browns and greens, seeing as the leaves of the Omaria forest trees never fell off dead. "So then...depending on how things move...spring could be the time they have it...and if not..." He paused for a moment, as if letting her be prepared, "...then you are welcome to stay and see it for yourself."

"Buisness woman, eh. Well that's good to know. Another question that has been of interest to me is currency, and the movement of goods. after all that gateway we have is for trade, So it behooves me to know what that kind of trade woudl cost or what can be traded from underdark to surface."

A slight grin.

"And how would you set things up to allow us past your security? do you need us present on the plane or something?"

Broog got a slightly amused look.

"Da long haired darkie elfie in a Breker Room by hisself. You can use him?"

Winter...Spring, all these seasons that she knew nothing about. Suddenly Andal was the newest and most exciting thing to her. She wanted to see it. She wanted to see the flowers and touch the water and feel the sun shining down on her skin. "I would be allowed to...stay in Andal? Even though I'm..." she didn't quite know the word to describe herself. She wasn't Llothian anymore, and while she knew that there were drow on Andal they were like her, weren't they? Though her mind drifted back off to the seasons, winter didn't sound nearly as exciting as spring. It was already cold in the Underdark and things did look dead, but it was all the time. "Are there other changes as well? Besides...Spring and...Winter?"

"Well one of use has to be on top of business now don't they?" A little laugh before she sobered herself easily enough. "We don't use currency in Andal...well not any that is of monetary value. We operate by trade system. And though there are some set standards on how to value goods... of course exceptions can be made and deals can be done between indiviuals. And anything is seen as potiential trade so long as there is interest in the items."

For the breifest moment it looked like she was enteraining the idea, that little smirk creeping across her face. Oh wouldn't she just want nothing more than to embed an arrow right betw- Piper shook her head at the rising though and quickly shut it out of her mind. That just seemed horrid. Though that did change her attention...wait...Sevilin was... "He's in a breaker room?" Seemed Malik was making good on his word of retribution. "As much as I'd love too...it wouldn't be right. I can content myself for now to what I have avaliable to me." Getting up, with her supplies as well. "Thank you for the help Broog, really." And there was no need to voice reward these days...it had become and understanding that when Piper said 'thank you' to him, he got a reward.

"Even though you're dark elven?" A little chuckle. "In Andal that will matter not...some may not be as forgiving as I am, but I know that not all drow are blood thirsty war mongers. There's no reason that you shouldn't be given the opportunity to enjoy the plane for as long as you like." PR skills indeed on Kieran's part.

But he continued on, getting caught up in her own excitement. "Yes...summer and autumn. In summer, the weather grows hot and the sun likes to shine all day...rain comes in storms that while harsh are breif and leave things refreshed. Though the winds keep it from being too hot and trees are in full spread, so there's more than enough shade, vegetation darkens and the sky lightens. When autumn rolls around, the lands turn earthy hues...browns, reds, oranges, yellows...and the air gets a bit dry but with a crisp smell to it, not yet too cold and not too hot."

"Well...if you really don't think it would matter, maybe I will stay to experience all of these seasons. I think I'd like to see them once or twice just to say I have. I'm kind of curious about the sun too." She listened to his words of new life, refreshment and inspiration and she felt content. It sounded like a place out of a book, a place that she'd never even thought existed. There had been no surface for as long as she could remember and she'd only heard the passing stories of other drow or the random elves who spoke of such things. What would it be like to walk along and feel water falling from the sky, cooling you off like your own private shower? To see things actually grow and not because they are steeped in mist or some sludge on the ground? "The land turns colors..." A magical place, full of the same magic that run through her blood. "No wonder you like it so much. It sounds amazing," she said a little breathlessly trying to imagine the wonders he was speaking of. "Do these seasons always follow the same pattern?"

"Trade system. hmm. well then that should work fine. I have stores of things that may be worth trade value, and my vault has centuries of rare artifacts and planar equipment."

Hmm. well judging from that Malik was probably quite 'rich' in Andal as well as normally here. bonus.

"I was informed it is winter in Andal, and that this council will probably take place then. how far into winter will it be?"

PostPosted: Thu Jun 22, 2006 8:04 pm

"Yes they do...first spring, then comes summer, followed by autumn, then winter and then back to spring and the cycle starts once more. The land in a constant state of change, constant rebirthing of itself." A little nod and a gesture to her then. "By all means if you wish to stay then I would be honored to have you as my guest for however long you would like to."After all...she was drow and the places she could stay and be comfortable with everything were limited...minds changed as they may be there were still reserves.

Nym chittered and looked up from where he was lying. How long had it been since he took to simply lying in front of that door, finally giving up to the fact that he couldn't work his way under that thing in any fashion and that Sevilin was stuck on the other side, much to the displeasure of both. For a moment he licked at his fur before rising to hind legs and scratching lightly at the door, perking little rounded ears forward to listen for the voice he knew so well for his own reassurance.

"I've no worry about that Malik...the trade system works well." She took a moment to count time in her head. "In the later dwindling months...maybe two or three before spring rolls back around and brings with it it's normal changes. We try to hold them at season cycle's end, begin new things in the season that is nothing but beginnings...and the extra winter months after council foster for the ability to compromise and finalize between us all before we more or less...start with a clean slate you could say."

Making her way back upstairs she kept her steps quiet as possible, pulling aside a slave who was told to fetch her bow and surcoat before she made her way outside, glancing breifly into doorways as she passed. Malik was occupied with Fianna and Zahara with Kieran. That was almost amusing, but she wasn't in the mood for too much musing as she made her way outside and to the stables, walking Serino out just as she was brought her bow and surcaot, which was duly slipped in to. Slinging it across her back she mounted up, giving the Zephyr a little kick to get going.

A guest of Lord Silvercrest, if that wasn't an honor she didn't know what was. Licking at her lips she searched for the right words to express her gratitude and finally settled on a smile. "Thank you Lord Silvercrest...I wouldn't want to get you in any trouble or anything...or impose for that matter. I know my presence won't be..." How did you say that there were a few that might hate her on sight? Not that she really knew, after all she'd never been to Andal but at the same time, most other elves hated drow as much as drow hated most other elves. "I just don't want to cause you unneeded stress and obligation..." Wow this was a lot harder to express than she'd thought it would be. Did he understand what she was trying to say? She wasn't even sure she did...

"Formalities? Honestly, no need for those...just a friendly offering. I know it may seem strange to you, being told that you are welcome someplace when no doubt you've been taught all your life that those on the surface and everyone in general has a hate and fear of you." A little wave of his hand. "Zahara, I rule a kingdom, there is little more that you can do to top the stresses of that as it is." Well he would say that someone was quite entranced.

The Breaker stationed by the door, looked at the ferret, and grabbed it nad picked it up, looking at it. what was this furry little thing, and was it edible...sniffing at it. stinky. dark elf pet. but the just got it dropped back down, it wasn't food yet. have to clean it first and he was just not in the mood to try and skin something alive right now. then opened the door, six hours up.

Malik nodded lightly.

"Trying to judge a best time for wedding. and it's looking late winter or early spring probably."

Though he felt Piper trying to play sneak. the minor twinges of concern and giddiness. what was that woman up to now.
