Silver is right.
I've always wanted to destroy Nakoruru because of that goddamned bird.
There's absolutely no way to kill ''girls that aren't Charlotte'' in SS4.
Didn't play SS3 much, but SS2 had that ''faux'' violence (for girls), like Rage said.
And yes-no, Val. But I do find it rather interesting/funny sometimes.

Silver is also right about Edge of Destiny looking like complete, global saturation s**t.

I dont think you could do it in 3 either. Even though it didnt have the finishers, they seemed immune to the sometimes-dismemberment you could get on all other characters by finishing with certain moves.
You know, not that I had it out for either of the girls particularly, they were just such a pain in the a** to fight sometimes that I wish they WOULD DIE by the time I finally beat them. And I thought it was weird that they never did.

Then again, was there any 3D Samurai Showdown game that -was- successful?
Most of the time 2D games have a special place in the hearts of gamers simply for being 2D. For some reason the jump to 3D doesn't leave it with the same impact as the classics. In fact, it had the exact opposite effect for Mortal Kombat.
I wonder the the same would go for a 3D fighting game turned 2D...

Silver Alexander Valerie plays like Kazuki? Does she use fire?
ice. she has a konril thing with her to switch between shura and rasetsu mode weapons, but it works like kazuki's fire charging in bust mode... it just looks like konril. she also has his "gates of hell" or whatever linking combo with her "sturm und drang."
she's intentionally a mix between kazuki, rimiruru, and inuyasha. and trains under athan. and lazenca's her dad. she's got a great potential for cleaving and eating things, i'm sure.
i should've been asleep already. good night.

Mortal Kombat 4 wasn't bad, actually, because it still had that 2d feel like SF4 does.
But the graphics were terrible.
Same thing with Street Fighter EX, cuz I have to admit that all that super cancel, excel, guard break stuff was cool.

ss64 was good, but slow, if i remember. but i got 29 wins in the arcade (with haohmaru) and only left because i had to catch the bus before the transfer ticket ran out, so i can't dog it.
ss64-2 was faster paced, more like 4. neither were huge wide famous successes, but i'm sure you'd have a fanbase for it in an arcade.
GOOD NIGHT.

Yeah, the other 3D Samurai Shodowns werent received that well, either. I only ever saw them in ONE arcade, and they NEVER got played. But they looked even worse than Edge of Destiny. Beautiful 2D sprites to horrendous featureless blocks never goes over well with anything. Of course, this was back when 3D fighters rarely ever looked good, even when you were doing it right.
I actually like it when 3D Fighters go 2D in some form or fashion. I wish there had been more Rival Schools characters in CvS2. I loved Kyosuke's 3-Bar Super simply BECAUSE it brought out Batsu and whatsherface in an awesome triple-team up like his origin game, but in 2D. And Hayate, despite not being a very good character, was a badass addition to MvC2's line up.
Ah, thanks for clearing that up, Lou.

Yeah I only saw ONE SS64 arcade in my ******** life. Never played it, though, for whatever reason.
I think it was SS64-2/Warrior's Rage.
I own Hayato's game on the DC, and I always felt that the other Hayato was even more bad a**.
edit: Holy s**t, nostalgia struck.

Oh, well, I guess I did like that one 3D Samurai Shodown on the Playstation, also called Warriors Rage. It was like a 3rd Strike/Mark of the Wolves of Samurai Shodown, being set 20 years in the future with an entirely new cast save for an old Haohmaru. I thought it had some pretty badass characters, Tohma Kuki in particular.
Haha, yeah, Star Gladiator/Plasma Blade, another DC game it makes me sad I lost along with Jojo. I even bought them at the same time....

Rival Schools was fun. I remember getting that for Christmas as a kid because someone at whatever store my mother went to suggested it. Sure, by today's standards the graphics arent the best, but it was a hell of a lot better graphics-wise than Samurai Showdown. (Although I did like the idea of old Haohmaru)
That, and I love that whole "gakuen" theme.
And I agree, Fox, I take it back. MK4 still did things right, since it essentially played like the original games with 3D graphics. Sadly, the next-gen MK games did it all kinds of wrong.

Man, Rival Schools/Project Justice were BADASS games, too. I wish my high school had had a Darkside Student Council. Another jewel of my DC collection forever lost. crying Capcom needs to release a Fighters Classic Collection of all it's old Saturn/DC era fighters. At least on XBLA/PSN. Ive been trying to find another copy of Jojo since I lost it. And X-Men/MSH vs. Street Fighter were just fun games, sans ******** YOU, SHINING-GOU-SHOCK.

I haven't played a Street Fighter game since the second one on super nintendo. I don't think I've played any other 2d fighter, either.
