Malik looked at the blood, and back up to Sevilin. his eyes were serious as they ever were.
"You know that once you do this, you do have time to spend in a specially designed room for your transgressions. As to your blood..you do realize that nothing you do will be unknown to me. or done. I'll know all your runic tricks, how to find them, how to counter them."
Though Malvolence did get drawn, the blade hungrily pulsing. if it coudl move, you'd swear it would bend itself toward the flowing blood.
"You better be absolutly sure what you do. Once done, you can't undo this."

A scratch at his fur where she rubbed away wetness. Don't be sad, he's just a jerk sometimes you know. Not much you can do about that...he had his habits and they're hard to break. You know sometimes he feels all alone too and theres nothing he can do either. You two are both so silly...after all you both have me...well, as long as there are socks involved. Chitter. And plop right down on the table, showing his belly with little legs kicking in the air and some flailing. Look at the funny ferret! Just take a look at him!
He scoffed as if Malik had just said the stupidest thing in the world, never mind he was more or less bleeding all over Malik's floors by now. "Don't speak to me as if I'm ignorant...I know where I stand. Truth of the matter being that I am but a tool to anyone I come across...and always will be. No matter who it is, not matter where I go...I have little choice in the matter...though my only choice that I do have seems to be who is the one that lays claim to me...and I suppose that is better than letting someone choose for me."
Another snicker. "I know that you have plans for me for what I've done, I'm not ignorant to that either. Do not think that you will be breaking me...do not think that you will work the defiance out of my system...or that just because you know my tricks that you can do them...you're not a rune mage...you'd as soon kill yourself from folly than anything. Knowing something and having experienced and practiced for years are totally different. "
No, he didn't like this path of thinking he had taken but there was only so much he could do or believe. "I ask one thing in return...you stop mentally torturing me, you stop prodding my mind for the mere reaction...you leave me alone about..." Zahara he wanted to say yet feared the mention of her name may spur Malik on. "I am not your pet...you understand that now." This would be him surrendering out of frustration. "I don't do this to gain your favor, or anything of the sort." Another scoff at Malik's last statement. "Yet you still make it sound as if this is my decision to make...how noble of you."

Her gaze was drawn to the ferret and his attempt to cheer her up. She giggled in spite of herself and tickled his tummy with her fingers then her brows knitted in concern. "Nym...well would you look at that. Sevilin was right, you will eat too much and puff yourself out." Pushing lightly on the lump that was now his tummy. "You're not going to get sick on me fuzzball are you?" That lump worried her a bit since it wasn't really normal for a ferret to gorge himself like that but then nothing about Nym was normal. She sighed softly and scooped him back up cradling him in her lap. "Sevilin is one lucky elf..."

Malik only grinned lightly.
"We might test that theory sometime."
Sevilin, sevilin...still thought about it like that. you sisters did a very good job and shattering your self image and building you into a playtoy.
"Deal. I won't prod in your mind, and you belong to my house."
Malvolence got laid across the cut, and promptly abosrbed any and all blood, even trying to pry it out of the open wound, before blade tip laid to teh ground, inhaling blood like a vacuum.
Knowledge is power, and sevilin did underestimate the blade. Malik coudl rune now. he knew what sevilin knew. how to draw the energy, hwo to hold his fingers and how to draw the runes. of course, the same held true that sevilin said as well. Malik coudl do it, but he wouldn't know his limits. and thus might potentially kill himself trying somethign fancy.

Funny he had that same horrid feeling that he had gotten the morning he had given into Zahara and slept with her. Though he didn't care this time...he was done and over it all. A mere look to his arm as Malik let his blade tip fall and Sevilin was quite to scribe a rune over the spilt flesh, sealing the wound as if it was never there to begin with. "Now leave me the hell alone..." Said as he turned, starting away from Malik.
Piper twitched lightly, before shaking her head at that horrible feeling. A drawing and a feeding of things...Malik was using that sword...and Malik was with Sevilin. Horrid realization slammed into her...oh no, he didn't? He couldn't of...though from the feeling of it...the very sadistic joy of that sword told her what she wanted to deny. That thing had just gotten a taste of blood...she had a good idea it had been Sevilin's. "Malik..."
"What's wrong?"
"...It's nothing..." Though her hand tightened into a fist at her side.
A little chitter at her poking before a sort of purring. What? Don't know when I'll get to eat that good again, might as well stuff myself full. But no, I won't get sick, it will take a lot more than this to get me sick. Laying rather contently in her lap with another little chitter.

Malik only grinned some.
"You were warned, Sevilin."
And four of the Breakers came rumbling up, each brandishing thier hammers.
"Take him to his room. Give him a good...six hours. nothing too serious. After all, we need him alive and in good shape."
And those breakers led sevilin to one of those rooms..every square inch of it covered with runic symbols. Malik had learned that a runemage's blood that contained inherent energies woudl activate properly scribed runes. and he'd been very meticulous in scribing them. they were designed of course to cause pain. and lots of it..not to mention some were designed to heat up to the air, some were designed to throw a person with wind and the like. a rather interesting setup.
So one breaker took his meathook, sliced it down his back, pushed him in and closed the door and locked it. if it didn't work, it was still sevilin in a room by himself for six hours to think on things. and Malik coudl fix it for next time.
But he felt Piper's distress, and he headed in her direction. he was gunna get hell for this, he was sure.

Well that sounded like a good chitter so she could only pray that the ferret wasn't going to get sick. "I'd hate to make you sick fuzzball, you're too cute to toss your grapes." She tickled his tummy lightly, loving the purring sound he made. One day, when she was back off on her own somewhere, when she left this place, she was going to have a ferret. Maybe she'd find one in Andal at Piper's wedding. Although none would ever be like Nym.

Sevilin didn't mind...after all with the way his mind worked he wouldn't even be there if he didn't want to be. So when that hok got yanked down his back he frowned from the fact that his shirt and half jacket had just been sliced open, not because he was hurting or bleeding. Damn it his clothes never survived this place.
So there he stood, seeing runes everywhere...someone had been busy. Barely aware of the blood running down his back and down his legs to the floor...but oh was he aware of it once it hit those runes, the energies he kept naturally stored in his blood throwing life into the harmless drawings...and giving him a nice jolt of pain...he was good against physical born pain but magical born pain he still felt.
Smart Malik may of thought he was but he forgot the cardinal rule and an ability only given to rune mages. Security. He had no security system on his runings, this is made getting rid of them easy...though he only carved out a corner for himself...not that he wasn't badly hurting by the time he got that done. Okay here he was sitting in a corner...locked in a room...he hated being behind locked doors...why not just throw some spiders in there...six hours to berate himself. Fun.
And it was like she popped up right in front of him because there she was, standing in his path, hands on her hips and looking none to pleased. "Tell me you didn't do what I think you just did..."
Another little noise, though by his way of looking around, he was starting to look for Sevilin. After all, he missed him and he should of been back by now. How did he know that? Sevilin had left that book pulled half out. And what with this obsessive compulsive need to clean he would never do that unless he intended to come back to it within ten minutes. Chitter. Gnawing lightly on Zahara's fingers.

She was lost in her own musings until a chitter brought her back to herself. She glanced down at teh little fuzzball who didn't appear too happy. His ears kept twitching and he was looking around with his little red eyes. She lifted him up cupping his bottom easily and peered into his eyes. "Nym? What's the matter fuzzball?" she asked softly setting him on the floor. "You don't have to stay with me little one, you can go find Sevilin, I'll be okay." One last pet to his head and she turned back to her books. She had work to do.

A slight grin at Piper. hmm.
"Yes and no? I didn't kill him, or force anything out of him. he did it on his own. offered up himself to feed malvolence, and swore fealty. he's in a breaker room right now, for past transgressions. six hours in a rune scribed funhouse."
A slight rubbing on the back of his head.
"Woudl it help if I promised I wouldn't play with things I'm not supposed to?"

"Don't you grin at me about it." Why was she so mad? Power lusting, that's why...Malik had made it no secret his want of those runic powers for himself...and now he more or less had them...and knew not what they could do to him. Know him he may...but conditioned for them his body was not. Could rip himself apart with the slightest thing, the wrong influx. That had been drilled into her head more times than she wished to hear it. "No...it wouldn't help...you just won't stop will you? When will it be enough Malik?" No she wasn't trying to be mean or purposefully hurt him either, she was actually asking a question...though she did bite her tongue on a more nasty comment at present about a short cut to learning surface elvish. For a moment she covered her face with her hand to get herself back in order...no she wasn't going to attack him for this like she had before on other times. "Do you know why I'm mad at you...? Honestly?" Yes let's start that way.
A little chitter from him as he was set down. A sniff around and a chitter back at her before he scampered back. Hey now if I need thumbs I'm coming for you first.

He watched her, and that first biting comment did hurt. Made him angry, in fact. He took off Malvolence, and tossed it down at her feet.
"That's what makes you so upset. That fact that I want to learn what sevilin does, without spending centuries to do it. So that if he tries to play his games with you, so that when he wants to strike out at Kieran, or at me, that I'm not totally defenseless. He's made quite a showing of the fact no one on this plane can counter what he does because no one knows how it works, or what to do against it."
His hands cletched lightly.
"I know my limitations, Piper. I know that knowing how to work it doesn't mean it's any less dangerous than me trying to do it without knowing. You think I'm that arrogant and stupid that I would clap gleefully and then start trying out rune a rune master? Just becuase you know how, doesn't mean you should. I've seen the effects on sevilin, and he's been training his body for the stress his whole life."
But he walked out of the room, leaving the blade on the ground, and came back with a hammer throwing it to her.
"So I'm power mongering, am I? greedy Tier'dal that I am, too much power mongering and too easy a path to learn it perhaps? then smash it. go ahead. shatter the blade, destroy ever power in it that I've been hoarding like a dragon on his gold pile."

She blinked, not expecting those series of actions or than response. And here they were again more or less at each others throats in a matter of seconds and she knew she was the one who had started it...again. A look down to the sword that was tossed to the floor, resting lightyly against her boot toes. Her eyes came back to his though. Listening to him, this time he was the one doing the attacking before she got her claws into him first. Another blink as he had left and then come back, throwing another object at her which she was forced to catch or risk having her toes crushed. Another look at the blade before she looked back up at him...and frowned then. For a moment her hand did clench around the handle of that hammer...she would love nothing more than that wouldn't she....but her grip slacked, allowing the heavy tool of creation and destruction to drop harmlessly to the ground at her side. "I can't." No, she couldn't destroy his sword, refused to. Like it or not, his sword was part of him, and she wouldn't destroy a part of him, as much as she disliked that part.
Thusly she ripped her eyes from his, now refusing to look at him because she didn't want him to see that hurt or whatever other thing that may flick through her eyes. "It's not the sword...that's only part of it." Sure she'd always be jealous of the damn thing but it wasn't the entire issue. "I just worry where you confidence may lead you some day." After all, she worried about him just as much as he worried about her...she just didn't openly show it too much around others because that was how it had been played for so long. "It doesn't matter anymore...Sevilin is yours like you wanted...no longer a threat. You know what he can do and how he can do it, that's what you wanted." Why did it always go this way? Love and joy not but so long before and now this all over again. Of course this is what happened when she let those surface elf tendencies take control. Her look was drawn back down to the blade that lay on the floor, whose whispers she had grown accustomed to. Reaching down she picked it up, holding it a moment by the hilt, blade down, before she held it out to Malik for him to take.

He saw, felt that hurt in her. he'd hurt her again, as always came about again and again. and it was always at the foot of Malvolence, in one way or another. him using it, what it could do, what it did do. Was he becoming too self-confident? too assured that with that blade there was nothing he couldn't defeat, nothing that could not be overcome or bent to his will?
"Sevilin is ours. and no longer a threat, and no longer a worry to run to another buyer, so that means he has to abide by house rules, or suffer by them. You can break his cheekbones like you want if he provokes it."
His voice has calmed, and his demeanor changed. a look at the blade held out for him, and waved it away.
"Have some servant put it in it's holder. I don't want it around me right now. despite what it gives me, strength, knowledge, power...all it seems to do is hurt us. Everytime we fight almost it's over something to do with that damned blade. keep it away from me for awhile, I don't want to fight anymore for some time."
And he moved to the living space, had a fire started, and sat in his favorite chair, resting his fist against his chin. There was nothing that tore at him more in this existance than hurting her. and he always seemed to do it, like an abusive husband to be, tearing her down and then coming back with flowers later. There had to be a way to balance Malvolence and Piper. There had to be.

Zahara rubbed at her eyes for a moment, the words of the book in front of her swimming crazily around the page. She wasn't made to sit this still for this length of time, it was almost impossible for her to sit still when she was studying for Sevilin. It drove her nuts to be inactive. Nym had skittered off after Sevilin and she pushed herself to her feet and headed out to the kitchen then through the living area raising an eyebrow at Malik. Something certainly hadn't gone his way, now had it. Strolling into the hall, a slave brought her her cloak and she quietly opened the door and stepped out. Roaming the Underdark was often considered a bad idea what with all the creatures that just loved to feast on vulnerable flesh but Zahara didn't care. The Fortress was stifling her and she had to get out. So now she was walking around, searching for various mosses and the like that she could use in Piper's potion. Most of the things on the list that had been given to her were not common, in fact it seemed that Malik had attempted to get her to be able to try the rarer breeds first. There were a few found in great quantity and those she snapped up almost immediately. Then she had an idea....wormwood root and ghastly moss. Maybe those two in conjunction with each other would nullify the harmful components of one. There was one way to find out.
She found both and used her dagger to cut the needed amount as well as a little extra then headed back towards the Fortress. Walking into the kitchen she began to chop up the moss, then mashed it into pulp and threw it in the bubbling pot. Stirring a few times, she watched carefully and then added the cut root. Her notebook was ready to copy down any significant changes and she easily began filling the page with color variations and the general behavior of the ingredients themselves. Adding in a bit of rat's blood, she stirred again and walked back to the library to double check a few things.
