Terryn turned as she heard the voice. She nodded to him and gestured towards the kitchen. "He is in there. He should return soon, unless he cuts off a digit. Is there a message for him?"

The messenger bowed. "Yes, miss. He's to leave here immediately. One of his estates burned down, I'm afraid. The area is in a shambles. Could I trust you to carry the message, miss? The Duke shows no indication of returning soon," he said, shifting from foot to foot impatiently.

Terryn's eyes widened as she glanced at the kitchen entrance. "Yes...yes I will tell him. Which estate is?"

"The Estate in which Baron and Baronness Robert Cecil reside." He glanced behind him. "I trust that is all, miss. Good day," he called, bowing once more and hurrying back outside.

Terryn still stood in shock as he turned to leave. "Many-many thanks..." She stood still for a moment before turning on her heel and made her way swiftly to the kitchen.

Marcus set down a glass of water, looking at Terryn. "I was about to come out, you know. Are you alright?" he asked. Terryn's already pale complexion was paler still, and Marcus figured that that couldn't possibly be good.

"I...I am fine. You are not." Terryn honestly didn't care much for estates and the like, but there was a family living there, and despite her hatred of people, she still had a soft spot for a family. "One of your estates burned down."

Marcus stared at her, trying to see if this was some sort of bad joke or not. "What?" He let out something that might have been a small laugh if Terryn hadn't looked so serious. "It...burned down?" he echoed. "Whi--hold up. How would you know?"

"There was a messenger, just now." Terryn pointed back out into the dining room, though it was now empty. "He said it belonged to Baron Robert Cecil and his wife."

Marcus blinked. "But we've only been here a day!" he exploded. "This...this means I have to leave--and...Lord, what am I going to do? This has never happened before!"

Terryn snapped herself from her own dazed state as best she could and took his hands in hers. "First off, you calm yourself. You are not going to get anything done if you panic. Second, you have to go help that family. Relocate them to another manor for the time being."

Marcus looked up. He wasn't entirely listening. Well, he wasn't actually listening at all. "Come with me. I've no idea what to do, and you do."

"I-" Terryn tried to run through the few booklets she had read about what to do in such situations, hoping to remember something important. "Well...I can try."

"Fine. Alright. Pack your things, and we will eat before we leave. Within an hour, we will be on our way to Russia," Marcus informed her.

Terryn nearly choked on her own breath. "R-Russia? As in, all the way on the east of Europe, distant and cold, full of czars Russiad?"
