MISSION- New Shadow on the Horizon An evil gym leader has taken over Rustboro.Your mission is to go and beat the goons and the leader. (You will face 3 goons and the leader)
Pokemon: None
Money: 1200
Item: Shadow Stone Badge
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shadowcat woke up one morning to the sound of her Tads beeping- again. She rolled over to hit it, but ended up falling off the side of the bed. She then woke up fully, and looked up at her Tads. “Evil Gym Leader in Rustboro,” it beeped over and over. “Ok, whatever,” mumbled Shadowcat, and climbed back into her bed. Shadowcat woke up later fully refreshed. She was now ready to deal with this “evil gym leader.” She grabbed a few pokeballs and some breakfast, then ran out the door into the sunshine. Pulling out her bike, she looked at her map. “Rustboro shouldn’t be too far from here,” thought Shadowcat, and she sped up on her bike. “Better take care of this quick.” A few minutes later, Shadowcat arrived at Rustboro. The town looked pretty normal at the start, but looking over at the gym, every few minutes a trainer would be chased out. She started towards the gym, and then stopped. “Better get my pokemon healed first,” She thought. A little while later Shadowcat exited the Poke’ Center with a full team of pokemon. She started towards the gym. Upon entering, a voice over the loudspeaker sounded out. “State your name and business.” Shadowcat thought quickly. “Shadow, and here to challenge the gym leader.” She responded. After a minute the loudspeaker boomed out,”Wait here. We will notify you when we are ready.” Shadowcat shrugged and took the chance to take a look around the gym. It was a rock field, with –as one would expect- filled with rocks. It reminded Shadowcat a cave, with stalagmites shooting up from the ground and stalactites hanging down from above. She was just getting ready to find out exactly what was going on when the loud speaker broke the silence. “You may enter the battlefield,” the loudspeaker said. “What type of battle would you prefer to have with the leader?” Shadowcat entered the battlefield and thought for a moment. “A three on three,” Shadowcat responded. “Very well,” answered the loudspeaker. “Any conditions or requests?” Shadowcat smiled. “Yes. But I will only tell those to the gym leader.” Shadowcat walked out onto the field. Shadowcat was expecting to battle the gym leader right away. She didn’t count on one of this so called gym leader’s goons jumping out to battle her, but she took the challenge anyway. The goon released a rhydon, while Shadowcat decided to start off with Swampert. “Go, Swampert, start off with Muddy Water!” Shadowcat decided. Swampert called up a giant brown wave of water, causing Rhydon to totter back and forth after the hit, which had drained almost half of its hp. Rhydon regained itself and countered with an earthquake. The rocks around Swampert shuddered and collapsed, causing extra damage. It still didn’t affect Swampert too badly. “Counter with a powerful water gun!” Shadowcat told Swampert. Swampert blew a powerful blast of water from its mouth, knocking Rhydon off its feet. Rhydon slowly got up and picked up a Stalagmite, hurling it at Swampert. Swampert ducked, and the Stalagmite made contact with its back. Swampert howled in pain. “Come on…use a take down attack!” Shadowcat yelled desperately. Swampert concentrated on hurling itself at Rhydon. Rhydon was bowled over, and a giant dust cloud arose. By the time the cloud settled, it was evident of the winner. Swampert sat on Rhydon, who was not moving. Rhydon’s eyes were spirals. The goon glanced around, recalled Rhydon, and ran out the door. Shadowcat shrugged and moved on. Stepping further into the arena, another hired goon jumped out at her. “Now you’ll have to battle me,” he taunted. Shadowcat shrugged as the goon released an Armaldo and announced that his name was Joe. “What the…” Shadowcat thought to herself. “Let’s go, Joe,” she told him and released her Umbreon. Joe smoldered. “Go, Armaldo! Use Ancientpower!” said Joe. Armaldo concentrated, and large rocks fell on Umbreon, causing normal damage. Shadowcat decided to counter with a Confuse Ray. It worked to her pleasure, not only doing damage, but confusing it as well. “Armaldo, use Slash!” Armaldo concentrated, then lashed out at Umbreon but not striking very hard. “Now use Shadow ball!” countered Shadowcat. Umbreon charged up a large ball of dark energy and hurled it at Armaldo. Knowing the he couldn’t take the risk, Joe told Armaldo to use protect. Shadowcat took the chance to have Umbreon use moonlight, healing it almost fully. Joe cursed under his breath (or at least that’s what Shadowcat told me) and told Armaldo to use Rock Blast, but it hit itself, leaving very little hp. Umbreon finished it with a Quick Attack. Joe looked around, recalled Armaldo, and to tell the truth, looked very embarrassed. (We think he had never been beaten in a battle before.)
Joe stood stock-still. Shadowcat, who by this time was getting quite annoyed, walked over, picked him up, and dropped him outside the gym door. Upon reentering the building, the leader’s third and final goon could be seen at the end of the field. “Geez,” thought Shadowcat. “Another one…” The goon walked up and released a Graveler. Shadowcat released Vulpix.
“Start off with Rock Throw, Graveler,” the goon called out. Graveler released a barrage of rocks on Vulpix. Vulpix pulled herself out of the rocks and yawned. “What move?” she asked. Graveler and its trainer stood dumb-founded. “How about a nice, roasting Flamethrower?” Shadowcat replied. Vulpix released a large slow Flamethrower on Graveler, which burned it. Graveler took extra damage from the burn, then attacked with a Rock Blast. Vulpix managed to dodge some of the explosions, but not many. It hurt her badly. She countered with Fire Spin, almost knocking out Graveler. Graveler then used Explosion, knocking out both it and Vulpix. Shadowcat recalled her pokemon and watched the goon recall his pokemon and run out the door.
Shadowcat watched as the leader emerged. “Hello, Shadow,” She said sweetly, but ice and evil dripped off of each and every word. Shadowcat grinned. “Here are my requests. If I win, you and your followers leave this gym and Roxanne alone.” The leader scowled, but accepted. Her first pokemon was Golem. Shadowcat choose Swampert, who was at about half health.
“Go, Swampert!” Shadowcat yelled. “Let’s make this quick! Use Muddy Water!” Swampert called up a crashing wall of water that hurled itself against golem, draining more than half of its hp. Golem attacked with Rollout, hurling itself against Swampert. Swampert gradually stood up. “Attack with Surf!” yelled Shadowcat. Another wave of hurled itself at golem, almost KOing it. Golem struggled to stand up, and finally attacked with Double-Edge, knocking both itself and Swampert out. The gym leader’s next pokemon was Nosepass. Shadowcat chose Houndoom.
“Go, Houndoom! Attack with Flamethrower!” Shadowcat started off the second battle. Flames enveloped Nosepass, doing normal damage to it. Nosepass slowly got up. “Come on, Nosepass!” yelled the gym leader. “Rock Slide!” Rocks tumbled from the ceiling as Houndoom tried to get out of the way, ending up with normal damage. “Houndoom, use Crunch!” Shadowcat countered. Houndoom ran up to Nosepass and bit it hard. Nosepass winced, and Houndoom bit harder, grabbed Nosepass and threw it against the wall. Nosepass barely got up. ”Rock Tomb!” yelled the gym leader. A tomb of rocks surrounded Houndoom, and closed the top. Houndoom barely managed to climb out. “Flamethrower!” said Shadowcat. Houndoom attacked Nosepass with another jet of flame, KOing it. Shadowcat got ready for the last pokemon. The gym leader looked worried for a moment but her expression changed to a smirking determination as she sent out Steelix. Shadowcat decided on Umbreon. “Start off with Dragonbreath, Steelix!” The gym leader called. Steelix released a stinky mouth of breath. Umbreon recoiled at the smell. “Whew!” Said Shadowcat, waving the air around her. Even the gym leader held her nose. “Use a moonlight attack!” called Shadowcat. Umbreon regained all of its hp. Steelix attacked with an Iron Tail, hitting Umbreon hard. Umbreon attacked with Shadow Ball, but not doing much damage. Steelix then chose to use Crunch, biting Umbreon. Umbreon howled. “Use Faint Attack!” Shouted Shadowcat. Umbreon disappeared and reappeared behind Steelix, catching it unaware and doing a good amount of damage. Shadowcat grinned. Steelix roared in pain. “C’mon Steelix…Use a slam attack!” Growled the gym leader. Steelix slammed into Umbreon, almost leaving it with only ¼ hp. “Moonlight!” called Shadowcat in a sing-song voice. Umbreon healed itself fully! Steelix and its trainer growled simultaneously. “Use Rock Throw!” yelled the gym leader, panicking. Umbreon was easily able to dodge most of the rocks. After the attack finished Umbreon countered with another Shadow ball, and Steelix was almost KOed. The gym leader was really panicking by this time. “Use Hyper Beam!” She shouted. Steelix charged up a gigantic beam and fired it at Umbreon. When the dust cleared, Umbreon was still standing, with a few hit points remaining. Shadowcat grinned. “Why don’t you return the favor?” Umbreon charged a small hyper beam of its own and fired it at Steelix. When the dust cleared, Steelix was KOed. The gym leader took one look, recalled her pokemon, and fairly ran for her life. Shadowcat heard a faint yelling coming from a door in the back. “let…Me…Out, you great coward!” It was Roxanne. Shadowcat opened the door. Roxanne looked slightly startled. “Thank you,” she said after a moment. Shadowcat replied and left the gym. After she got back, she collapsed on her bed and smiled, happy she could do something nice.

(You will face 3 goons and the leader) Pokemon: None Money: 1200 Item: Shadow Stone Badge -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fail, I would have liked a little more conclusion, but the main thing was how the type charts... well weren't there. Normal damage from a a fire attack hitting a Rock type, it isn't going to happen. Oh and Moonlight healing full HP, unless I see the words, middle of the night, of Sunny Day attack, its only healing up to 50% of Umbreon's total health. Relook at how much damage attacks from both sides do.

Shadowcat heard a faint yelling coming from a door in the back. Shadowcat let out Houndoom and told it to make sure the gym leader didn’t come back, and then walked over to the door. “Let…Me…Out, you great coward!” It was Roxanne. Shadowcat opened the door. Roxanne looked slightly startled. “Thank you,” she said after a moment. Shadowcat retold the whole story to Roxanne. “So…She tried that, huh? Well, if I hadn’t been caught a bit unaware I would have taken her out right then and there.” Roxanne commented after the story was finished. “You do realize that you driving her out will mean she’ll try this with other gyms? She and her brother have taken to doing that, I think,” Shadowcat groaned inwardly, and glanced at the Tads. Almost ten, she realized. “Well, nice meeting you Roxanne, but I’ve got to leave.” Roxanne waved, and Shadowcat left for Aqua, and recalled Houndoom.(the fake gym leader was very tired at this moment, I suspect.) After she got back (which I heard was around 11:00), she collapsed on her bed and smiled, happy she could do something nice, not noticing that she left the TV on. It was filming a air documentary on Dewford Island.
Now wait a minute, who are those two people heading for Brawly’s gym?

darkfire_dragoness MISSION- New Shadow on the Horizon -Revised An evil gym leader has taken over Rustboro.Your mission is to go and beat the goons and the leader. (You will face 3 goons and the leader) Pokemon: None Money: 1200 Item: Shadow Stone Badge -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fail, the damage still isn't balanced. Main thing, Fire Spin is an EXTREMELY weak attack. Ghost is nuetral on bug. Gym Leaders are typically smarter than your average trainer. And only having two Pokémon faint when going against 6 other Pokémon. That is not going to get a level 3 mission passed. I am not asking you to know every attack/Pokémon like the back of your hand, but a certain standard, of which I KNOW you are capable of, needs to be met.
