"Er...yes. I'll be just a moment," he answered, still too sleepy to fully comprehend the situation. It usually took him a few minutes to wake up, and it would hit him later.

Terryn quickly exited the room again, shutting the door and waiting beside it. She hummed a bit to herself boredly and looked at a tapestry hanging on the opposite wall.

Marcus reluctantly left bed, changed into some fresh clothes, and washed his face with cold water. Soon enough, he left the room, smiling sheepishly at Terryn. "I'm sorry about that."

Terryn only nodded to him briefly, still looking at the tapestry. "You have a rather...interesting taste in art." The tapestry was very...Marcus. It featured Dionysus, holding up a glass of wine and enjoying the company of quite a few scantily clad woman laying all over him.

"Most women actually choose to overlook my taste in art." Or, if not overlook, they smiled coyly as though it was some naughty joke, rather than a very old oil painting. Marcus chuckled. "This particular piece is certainly something I'd like to wake up to."

Terryn raised an eyebrow with her characteristic smirk. "You wish to awaken to a fat, inebraited men sexually violating young maidens?"

"Certainly I do," answered Marcus, as though the answer were obvious. "And several maidens, at that. It's rather difficult to do," he told her, offering her his arm.

Terryn rolled her eyes and took his arm. "I am sure that you would love to spend company with DIonysus himself. Who needs women when you can have a drunken god at your disposal?"

Marcus scoffed at this, and he began to take Terryn down the hallway. "I do. Don't you know me?" he asked incredulously, winking at some nonexistent maiden in a passing doorway.

Terryn smirked and whispered into his ear. "Intimately." She pulled away, doing her best not to laugh. "At least, that is what your grandmother seems to think."

Marcus chuckled. "Your father is no better. He seems so terribly upset that his darling baby girl has gone and ruined herself with a wastrel." He raised an eyebrow at her, smiling broadly anyway. "Wench."

Terryn raised an eyebrow. "Wench?" She grinned. "I am no wench. I have decided to upgrade myself to courtesan."

"Hmph. You certainly think very highly of yourself. I don't know if I would allow you to take that title," Marcus informed her airily. They were entering the dining hall, and Marcus suddenly remembered the very excellent dinner last night. "Are you hungry?"

Terryn scoffed. "Well I do not know. I may have to look thinner so I can be worthy of my elevated status." She smirked at him and stopped him to lean over and give him a kiss. "But even a courtesan needs to eat."

"I'm glad you think so. I'll be just a moment," Marcus told her, making his way into the kitchens.
A messenger, meanwhile, came in. He'd asked the hired service, and stopped when he saw the girl. This particular messenger had been under his lord's service for some time, and he made it a point to survey Marcus's menagerie of women. He wasn't exactly disappointed in this one, but Marcus, in his opinion, had had finer ladies. "Is the young Duke here?" he asked this woman politely, doffing his cap.
