It is music that we see our connection to the nations of th world, the influences of African drums, Spanish guitars and the rituals of the Indian people which flow through our veins. That is the pride of those of Latin American decent. We are a little bit of everything and we let the world now it. We are Black, brown white and everything in between. We speak Spanish, Portuguese, English and even some languages that have no names. We were once Conquistadors, clad in silver armor heading towards a distant new and uncertain world. We once called the Sioux and Pueblo people bothers. We too once were African, with beautiful ebony skin, dancing to the beating of drums on the vast Savahnas. This is why we dance and we do so with pride.

I think that it is having to do with the fact that the predominate official language is Spanish which was it's roots in Latin. But that is only a percieved ideal, there are still many people even in Mexico who can't speak Spanish and will not earn it because it still carries that sting of conquest and fear. It is unfortunately the down side of the culture, althought our music and out ideals are a melting pot of several others, the emphasis is tended to placed upon only the European culture. Which is why do this day I tend to get treated better inside my family because I am tall and hav failry lighter skin than the average Mexican, those are attrributes from my great-grandfather which was Spanish. On the reverse, one of my cousins, feels like she is ostirzied becuase het father happens to be a a Black Cuban, and I tend to hav to aggre with her which is where the whole argument began earily today, someone made a comment that why was I going out on a date with a black girl, if we had kids, they were going to be half black and that would somehow tarnish the fact that I have strong Spanish features. "Don't date some mayate" where his exact's words. ((Note: A mayate is the Spanish word for the N word))

Informative... and sad...
I unfortunately come from one of those obscure white suburbias, where the total number of non-white can be counted on one hand... So, I am fairly un-experienced with such things... We are so intergrated and assymilated we can't even recall our unique European heratiage... WE are nothing but Canadian... Both sad, and good. it makes me feel like I am from a "Witch Hunt" town, but there are no witches... can't explain, just a feeling.
Edit:
Aurahkah, is it ok if the Character intentionally doesn't pay attention to who is around, purposefully? ((or if need be at a later time, obsesively?)
