Zena White, The Witch of the Woods " So what you are saying is you don't see me as a woman but as a child!?" another potato was thrown over the loft. She pocked her head over the loft to look down at the knight with a slight glare. " So are you saying that you would lie to a child that someone would came save them? Or just me in general? And I told you that you didn't have to brush my hair and do it up!" She snapped before taking out the hay that tied it together and undid her braid. Her long hair now had a slight wave to it do to being in the braid. " I told you I could of whipped my face myself but you kept messing around with my face!" Do not come up here at all or I will stuff your mouth with these bad potatoes and put you in the stew pot!" She warned the knight before going to the corner of her loft and started to read a old book that was up there. Zena ended up staying up there for the rest of the day and if Kreiss dared tried talking to her or she heard him get close to the ladder she threw a potato. In the end Zena ended up sleeping up in the loft and she cooled off about the whole matter.

Kreiss Fangheart, The Knight of the Red "I- No I wouldn't- No- I-." She was already disappeared back behind the loft's clearance and he sighed. He looked at the area she had gone to and he stood up and was moving to the ladder only to be yelled at not to do so else he would have potatoes stuffed in his face. He let out another sigh and rubbed the back of his head. "She's wondering why I thought she was a child..." He whispered before moving over to the book she had gotten for him before she got angry at him. It was the book about the forest and he began to study it throughout the day. It was nothing of particular use, but he would have to memorize it if he ever wanted to get out of the forest or understand the movement of those things in the forest. As the day passed by he went from the book to bringing in firewood to the book again to getting water and when it was finally time to sleep he made sure to put out the candles at a reasonable time and stack some more firewood into the hearth before going to bed in the straw. She had told him not to try and talk to her so the day had just been filled with the sounds of flipping pages.

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods About another week had gone by since the day Kreiss found out about Zenas age. The next day after that Zena came down from the loft and apologized for snapping at him and through potatoes at him. The following days she let Kreiss put his ointment on himself and did not help him much as he was recovering and gaining his strength. Of course she was always worried whenever he did something that she thought might hurt him or strain him. Zena also had looked at the maps she showed Kreiss of the forest and started to think of a way he could get out safely but she was also scared for him to leave. One because if he left he would know how to get back in and he might bring more knights. Zena couldn't hide being a witch forever, it was hard enough already and she had already almost slipped a couple times. The second reason was she would be alone again. She had been on her own for so long that it was nice to have someone to talk to that was not a donkey. She didn't what to be alone again but she knew no matter what she would be. It wouldn't be fair if she kept Kreiss here away from the family he cared so much for. Zena was outside early morning with a axe by where all the fire wood was heaving and huffing. She wanted to get some firewood chopped before Kreiss was up and did it. She wanted to show that even though she was small and frail she was still able to do some hard labor as she had lived here on her own but with the help of magic... She needed to look normal!

Kreiss Fangheart, The Knight of the Red Kreiss had taken the week to simply explore the small perimeter of the house, recover his strength, awkwardly talk with with Zena and help her around the homestead as much as he could while he was recovering. About another half-week in, he had begun to work on chopping firewood, though he did not do it for very long generally. His features had not changed much overall, but his face had begun to grow a small bit of stubble, nothing major. A few red hairs poking out from his chin and jawline. Perhaps it seemed a bit strange to see since his clean shaven face was much more youthful looking, but there it was, starting to poke up around to give him a more rugged and messy look rather than a clean and upright one. The morning she began to chop wood, Kreiss awoke to the ax splitting wood. He shifted out of bed and stood up quickly. Some of the bandages had left his person, leaving bare, muscled skin instead rather than a mummified persona. He stepped out into the chill air and glanced to Zena who was swinging the ax and heaving the thing up wildly. "Hey! Woah! Be careful Zena." He called out, quickly rushing over to steady the back swing over her shoulder. "No need to throw out your back for some firewood." He stated with a small smile. "What are you doing out here so early cutting the firewood, should leave that to me."

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods Zena had managed to cut some firewood but not much in the thirty minutes she was out there. She was about to swing her axe to most likely miss the wood when she heard her name. " H-Hey you should be in bed!" She panted out before swinging the axe to only miss the fire wood and the axe went straight into the ground. " Stupid wood..." She muttered as she let out a groan as she tried to pull it out of the ground. With little strength she had she lifted the axe over her shoulder and was ready to swing it again to only have Kreiss running over to steady her swing. " I been... On my own... for a while... I been doing this all... by myself." She said out of breath, clearly the wind was knocked right out of her but she was still going. She wanted to prove she was able to do this on her own. " I-I thought I could give you a rest... I-I got it for today!" She slowly lifted the axe over her shoulder for what she thought was the final blow for the firewood but the blade just slipped off the firewood, not even leaving a mark. Zena looked at the firewood in slight rage as she panted out, trying to catch her breath.

Kreiss Fangheart, The Knight of the Red Kreiss shook his head. "I woke up because I heard someone was using the ax irresponsibly. Do you think it might have been Philip who was using the ax irresponsibly? I think he was." Kreiss stated with a chuckle before moving to place a hand on the haft of the ax after she had taken another swing. It wasn't forceful, but rather he just rested it there. "Take a small break Zena, it's okay if you don't get it all chopped in one sitting. If you really don't want me to help with it and want to do it all by yourself I don't mind, just pace yourself okay?" He smiled at her softly. "Don't need you getting injured when one of us already is." Kreiss then scratched his chin. "Though I have to admit, this has been good exercise for me lately so I can't say that it makes me all to happy you're taking my job away from me."He then pulled the hand away from the haft very slowly. "Let's get you inside and get you some water and maybe a meal in your stomach before you continue. Not a big meal but enough to help get you back on your feet."

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods Zena was about to grab the axe and try again with shaky hands but she felt a shot of pain through her back which made her flinch. She then hung her head and shoulders in defeat as her body would not be able to continue on without really hurting herself. When Kreiss made the comment of someone using the axe irresponsibly Philip let out a honk after his name was said, almost as if he was laughing along with Kreiss. The witch shot a glare at Philip before giving the same glare at Kreiss. " I w-was not!" She huffed. Zena rolled her shoulders back that let out a couple of popping sounds that made her make a painful tsk sound. " Fine... You can chop some of the firewood but only do what you can handle." She said with a sigh, slowly catching her breath from the little workout she just had. " Only because you need the work out." When Kreiss said she should get inside to get a meal she nodded in agreement. Food might be the thing to help her get back on her feet. Slowly the small woman started to make her way back to the cabin but not without almost falling over her own two feet.

Kreiss Fangheart, The Knight of the Red Kreiss was about to begin chopping wood when he noticed Zena stumbling about. He sighed and sunk the ax into the stump they used to hold the logs off the ground and moved over to her, taking one of her arms to help support her. "Let me help you inside and resting, then I'll go and chop some wood. Don't worry, I'm not pushing myself Zena... Just want to make sure you aren't overdoing it... Later I should brush your hair again as well if you want me to do that again."He didn't really keep walking, he would let her decide whether or not she wanted his help any more than chopping the firewood but that doesn't mean he wouldn't at least offer it. "Do you also want me to tend to the garden today?" He asked as an off topic. "I'm not really a farmer nor do I have that skill set, but if you are willing to oversee the work I am willing to do the actual manual labor for you."

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods The now stiff Zena was almost around the corner to the door when she felt her Kreiss take her arm making her stop in her tracks and look up at the man. She was about to say that she was okay but for whatever reason when she looked up at Kreiss it felt different. She had this slight warmth go through her, maybe it was from the warmth from him? Hers eyes locked onto his for a while before she looked at the ground and nodded. " Alright..." Maybe she had this slight warm feeling because he would brush her hair? She did enjoy it after all so maybe that was it? It must of been. " The garden?" She looked back at the gardenand rubbed her head as she though of it. " I guess I could teach you about the garden, only if you are alright getting a little dirt on you." She giggled before she started walking again with Kreiss's hand still on her arm for support. Taking it slow she entered he little cabin and she took a seat at the table, almost falling onto the table while doing so. Her arms felt so stiff but at the same time like a noodle, god how she wished she could use magic.

Kreiss Fangheart, The Knight of the Red Kreiss gave a simple nod. "I do not mind getting a little dirty to help you." He stated back, helping her into the house at her own pace. Once they were inside and she was at the table he moved over to the barrel and scooped up some water into a bowl, shifting over to offer it to her. "Here you go Zena. Should help you cool off a bit and help you feel better. If you need me, just yell my name and I will come back inside okay? Just take your time and go at your own pace, anything faster is liable to burn you out and make you sick."With that he was off to go back outside. It did not take long for the sound of the ax deftly splitting logs in two to start resounding in the clearing that was quickly becoming the home of not one person but two. The splitting of wood had a certain rhythm to it, and eventually some humming could be heard while Kreiss worked, only small sighs every once in a while as he took a moment to wipe his forehead or get an extra thick log ready to be split. It didn't seem like he was willing to stop splitting anytime soon as he let Zena recover, or he was motivated to split enough wood that she wouldn't have to do it for some time, one of the two.

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods Her heart fluttered a little when he said he didn't mind getting dirty if ti was to help her. Why she didn't know and the only thing she could think of why she was acting was strange was because trying to chop wood really knocked her out. Zena rested her head on the table and let out a long sigh as she tried to collect herself together before she head Kreiss foot steps get closer, making her look up to see him walking towards her with a bowl of water. She then sat up straight and took the bowl from him. " Thank you." She said softly before taking a long sip of the water. " Aren't I the one who is meant to be worried about your health?" Zena asked with a light laugh. The worn out witch watched the knight leave the cabin before she started to drink her water again. Soon the sound of wood being split into to could be heard outside and not long after some humming. Zena took her time drinking the water and once the bowl was empty she sunk into her chair letting out a sigh. Closing her eyes she let herself relax for some time before she felt like she was ready to get back to some work. Getting up slowly Zena grabbed her bowl and refilled it up with water before going outside with it. Going around the corner she saw how much wood Kreiss had done which was much more then what she got done in the time she was out here at it. " I guess you do I better job then I do." She said before holding out the bowl of water for him to drink.

Kreiss Fangheart, The Knight of the Red Kreiss split another log in half right as Zena came out to check on him. He looked over and sunk the ax into the stump with ease and stepped over with a smile. "I blame my practice as a warrior for it, best not to think for what though." He took the bowl gently from her hands. "Thank you Zena, it was kind of you to bring this to me."He sipped at the water and then looked at the pile. "I'll stack this up shortly and then it's to work in the garden right? Or should I keep splitting wood for a while longer. Maybe even teach you how to hold the ax properly?" He asked, making a motion to Philip. "That way you can teach Philip how to use it correctly so he stops misusing it of course."Kreiss was smiling happily and then looking around the place. "You know... I was thinking that maybe while I'm here I could start digging a moat or maybe building a thick fence for you around this clearing so as to make it a bit safer? After all, those things haven't come here yet but it's never a bad idea to be careful, and I'd rather see that you are safe than at constant risk."

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods " Just returning the favour." Zena said with a little smile as she gave a slight shrug. Once he was done drinking his water she took the bowl from him and set it aside before she looked at the wood he had chopped. She picked up a piece of wood that he had chopped and put it on the pile of wood that had already been cut. " I can start stacking them up its no problem." She said as she started to pick up another piece of chopped wood before the cheeky little knight started to act all cheeky with her again. " I don't know what you are talking about... I can use it properly along with Philip." She said as she turned away and stacked another piece of firewood. " Moat?" Have a moat and fence to protect them from the creatures that lurked out there. " I really don't think that that will stop those creatures from coming in. As long as we are not screaming our lungs out they should come..." There was a couple of times when she first moved to these woods with her mother that they were attacked here but her mother was able to protect them and they had not come back since maybe do to how powerful her light magic was. She had picked up a third piece of wood and was about to put it with the other pieces but when he said he wanted to see her safe her hand slipped, causing her to get a splinter. She let out a tsk and tried picking out the splinter from the palm of her hand.

Kreiss Fangheart, The Knight of the Red Kreiss just gave a snort at her stating she could use the ax properly as well as Philip being able to. He looked over to Philip. "Philip is she lying to me? Can you really use the ax like a lumberjack?" His gaze then settled back on the perimeter. "I see... Just wish there was a way that I could make the area more secure. The woods are dangerous and I think this is the only safe place in them if your maps are anything to by. Therefor making the safest place the most secure only makes sense." There was another sip of water and then a sigh as he set the bowl of water down next to the ax, turning as she made the 'tsk' sound. "Something bite you?" He asked, trying to get a closer look at what she was looking and then picking at. "Hopefully not a snake right? If it's a snake we could probably snag it for some meat if you point me to where it is." Kreiss reached for the ax handle, now scanning around to see if he couldn't find something that could have bitten her.

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods Zena simple just grumbled to herself as Kreiss kept teasing her about using a axe and how Philip could use one as well. " Philip will show you his lumberjack skills by cutting you in two if you don't shut it..." The little witch grumbled after giving Kreiss a nasty glare as the old donkey gave out another honk. " Managed to live here for about seven or so years and have only been attacked here at the cabin twice and that was when we first came here." Zena explained as she tried to think of how to convince him that they were safe here without saying it was because of magic. " We would of been dead a long time ago if this place wasn't safe Kriess, don't worry about it. If it comes down to it I will protect you from what lurks in these woods just as I did when I found you." She said, giving Kriess a smile. " Snake? No, no its just a splinter from the firewood." She said as she turned her palm to show that it was a simple splinter that was imbedded under her skin. She tried picking it out a couple of more times before she tried using her teeth and suck it out but it didn't work. " Guess it is staying there for now." Zena shrugged before she looked over at the garden and started walking over to it. " I will start digging up the potatoes and I will teach you about being a farmer." She giggled.
