█ █The Elden Prince█ █ Jhann looked back at his squad with a heavy heart. He felt so confident before leaving the palace that he would lead his men into the Skaglands, find Adlanniel and be back before the week was out. However, now that he had actually left Naiøria he realised how impossible a task that seemed. The five soldiers he had with him were merely guardsmen, mostly sent to protect their prince rather than perform any real combat. This was his first assignment outside training drills. The enormity of the task at hand was beginning to get to him and he had only barely set foot into the Skaglands. He dispelled these thoughts and tried to maintain his commander's façade, "Men, we march to the foot of that mountain then we set camp for the night." The soldiers heartily acknowledged the prince, despite the redundancy of the command. They knew they were to camp before attempting any mountain, it had been the plan from the very start of their journey.

FANTHRALL MURES The rocky terrain waiting ahead was going to be rough but Fanthrall had traveled the routes many times. He knew it better than the back of his hand, as long as it had not betrayed him and changed. Either due some battle, or an rocky avalanche-- things happened. None of which he intended to encounter again anytime soon. He acknowledged Ordo's comment regarding the fire with a curt nod and got going, walking alongside his bull-headed friend hauling the cart, and absently reaching out to rest a hand on its back, guiding subtly. Without feeling any pressuring need to start a conversation digging into why their new friend was out there all alone, looking spooked of her own shadow, or why Ordo was suddenly more interested in traveling away from the city.
Regardless, the questions in his mind did not go ignored. Rather, they were tucked away for a better time. Cras, the cross-breed of a bison and a griffin, seemed content with the travels, pulling along the cart lazily, hardly ever stumbling even as he led them down a narrow path to find a more sheltered spot for a small camp before dark; before the wild could come and haunt them.
It was another group of people that caught his interest and he pulled Cras to a halt, gesturing for his friends to stop as well before he gestured a little ways further. "People. Settling down," he commented, nodding in the direction. "Shall we go see? Friend or foe?" he inquired for a more mutual agreement. From one hand, it could end up being a delay and trouble; from another-- perhaps a chance to share supplies, talk, and make more friends.

-Ordo Vadamee- Ordo looked to where Fawkes point. "Maybe. But we should still be cautious about it." He stepped into the light so he could be seen. "Hello? Just travelers here. Trying to get to the spires." He was ready to breath fire and grab his hammer if need be. Plus he didn't want his new friends to receive the brunt of any attacks. "Peaceful?"

Taya walks alongside the creature as it pulled the cart but she then saw a group of men traveling as well then she looks at Ordo and Fawkes saying something about being cautious and greeting them. Taya looks back at the men then she nods her head as she prepares herself but she was hoping there won't be a fight.

█ █The Elden Prince█ █ The men froze in their preparations as voices were heard addressing them. "Tørstårians!" One of the men said quietly, in fear. "Sire, they'll tear us limb from limb if we let our guard down!" "Tørstårians..." Jhann said to himself. He had never seen a Tørstårian before, outside of books. The beastmen of Tørstår, as he knew them, were alternately described as vicious, barbaric people or as cunning foes worthy of admiration. He stepped forward toward the newcomers. "We are not here to fight, Tørstårians. We are merely travellers setting camp for the night." The soldiers nervously layed their hands on the hilt of their swords. Jhann turned to them. "Do not worry. We will fight if we must, but I have read about these beastmen. They can be reasoned with." This did little to calm the men.

Taya's tail twitched as she heard the men yell out their species name in fear, her heart was beating fast with fear as well then she then raised her hands up to let them know that they mean no harm,"Forgive us good sir but we do not wish to fight, we come as peaceful travelers as we are heading to Spires.." her voice did not let a hint of fear but it was pure kindness and gentle in hopes to calm them and hope that no fight would break out.

█ █The Elden Prince█ █ The men seemed confused by the eloquent response from the female in the group. Their hands remained on their sword hilts and their fear remained, but they felt somewhat relieved at the same time. Jhann also felt confused by the response. "Fellow travellers then. Very fortunate indeed. You say you are heading to the Spires. What, if I may enquire, do you hope to find there?" Jhann figured he could perhaps gain some information from the Tørstårians, even if tensions were high. He made sure not to make any movements towards his own sword, though he was frustratingly aware of his mens' current positions.

Taya then looks at her friends then she looks back,"Hopefully a new start on life.."she is indeed on the run but she wishes to start a new and hopefully along her new friends then she looks at the men around the one that spoke then she lowers her hands as she folded them in front of her as she waited on what will happen next.

FANTHRALL MURES Silent observation, as per usual, was the go to in this moment. Especially with Ordo stepping up to make inquiries and their new friend joining in with her explanations. It were Taya's words that had him arch a brow, a subtle reaction of disbelief. Spires... and a new start there? She clearly must not have understood how harsh the region was, or had never visited at all. Fanthrall chose not to comment-- there was always the chance that the fellow and his tense companions were not at all aware of such things either. Who knew... he couldn't tell on the first glance.
Easily mistaken for a Tørstårian by the look of it, Fanthrall opted to not comment on that, either. Granted, the region was near to his home but he'd never held any true allegiance towards either of the larger... areas. "For folks setting camp... many seem tense," Fanthrall noted, pursing his lips in thought as he considered the group. "We might consider joining. No blades to point at us. I make good traps. Get a fresh meal for night. No time." Fanthrall offered his subtle attempt to bribe for a shred of peace and comfort before nightfall. Numbers tended to be useful out there... especially when the night arrived. That man there, the one who seemed to be in charge, had numbers around him. Though, with the tension settled in the air, he supposed he should be fortunate if there were half of them left by dawn, if they got so tense towards anyone passing by.

█ █The Elden Prince█ █ Feeling the rising tension behind him, Jhann realised there were only two courses of action he could take: attack now while both sides were unsure or attempt a peaceful agreement. The latter was by far the more desirable option, but he realised he was running out of time. Soon, one of the men would break and either attack or run, causing the others to follow suit. His thoughts were interrupted by the strange syntax of the antlered one. He recognised the offer of alliance, most likely temporary, and the offer of catching a meal for the group. This was too good an opportunity to defuse the situation to pass up. "We would be happy to accept your gracious offer, friend." He turned to the men. "The antlerred one has shown us respect and offered to catch us a meal. We will offer the same courtesy and stay our weapons." There was murmuring among the men. Uneasily, they let go of their swords, but still eyed the other party with suspicion. Jhann turned back to the other party. "We cannot refer to one another as friend all night. My name is Jhann. May I ask for yours?"

-Ordo Vadamee- Ordo looked to the men. He understood distrust more than anyone. He was ready for a fight, even his calm posture didn't show it. "Best be keeping those swords away." When asked his named he looked to the man who had introduced himself first. "I am Talyc." He opted for the nickname this time around, the name meaning 'death' in his native tongue. "I'd tell your guys to hook the sheaths closed. They wouldn't want an altercation, would look really bad in the public eye."

█ █The Elden Prince█ █ There was a sudden shout behind Jhann. "'e's gonna get us all killed chattin' with those monsters! I'm out of 'ere!" One of the men broke and ran. Before Jhann could react, another followed. Jhann turned to his men, fury in his eyes. "Hold! Have you no honour? No loyalty to the throne?!" Two of the remaining men immediately dropped to one knee and faced the ground. The third hesitated. Slowly, he followed suit, but looked back at his fleeing comrades.

FANTHRALL MURES There was still the small joy present on Fanthrall's face when the word 'friend' passed. He moved, took a slow step back to the cart to gather what little trapping supplies there were left there, and stilled once more. Ordo introduced himself as Talyc, Taya followed up alike, he-- hadn't even managed to get a word out before the tense folk along with their swords made a run for it. All things considered, Fanthrall saw it as a better option in comparison to making a run at them, and potentially assaulting them.
Many things might have passed in that moment, and he cocked his head, considering the mention of the throne, the appearance of the man trying to reason, and what little he knew of the outside world. He'd never traveled to Naiøria but he wasn't stupid enough to not recognize an Eld when he saw one. Regardless, he had no reason to act as though his honor had been insulted somehow. The rope for the traps in his hands, he stepped up, next to Ordo, studying the remainder of Jhann's group. "Fawkes, not monster. Monsters are what comes in the night. Out here... you will do better to stay together. Make fire. Have food. Gather strength. Not run around-- they dead by dawn," Fanthrall stated, all too serious for his own good as he gestured towards the running guardsmen. "One does not know Skagland well, one will die out here."
