Palatine neatly avoided the spray of venom that came her way, watching it make contact with the crystals instead. It neither sounded good nor smelled good, and considering what it was doing to the crystal, she didn't think she wanted to see what it would do to human flesh.
A part of her wanted to continue standing back and keeping out of the way. She wouldn't be able to heal anyone if she was knocked out cold or killed, and she was sure someone was going to need a bit of her warm, magical tea at some point.
But a part of her felt really guilty for not doing, well... anything.
“Damn it all to hell,” she said.
She watched the scorpion's tail head toward Varuna and a knight. Then it began thrashing around and posing a danger to them all, along with the lashing of its claws. So long as the scorpion had both tail and claws, all of their efforts were likely going to be countered. To absolutely no one's benefit.
So Palatine ignored the part of her brain insisting that she stay put and went in. She dodged a few thrashes of the tail, dropping low to the ground or jumping off to the side. She moved behind the scorpion youma, waited until the tail came close enough, and tried to wrap her arms around it, using all the strength she had in an attempt to both hold it still as well as pull in the hopes of ripping it's segmented tail apart.

Super Varuna
Varuna let out a surprised shout when she was pushed back by the knight (Havasu Falls), but was grateful for it. She saw that they managed to at least get the scorpion to fall, but now it was flailing around too much.
She jumped back to her feet as the knight ended up getting struck with one of the crystals across his cheek, and reached to grab his hand, pulling him as hard as she could away from the claws. “Dismiss it!” she said to him, pointing at the rope around the creature’s leg. If he dismissed it and called it back from subspace, then it wouldn’t matter if it was around the youma’s leg, right?? At least that’s how she thought knight magic and weapons worked.
Hopefully they would be able to kill the youma quickly and get out of there! Then, pulling the knight along, but would quickly let go if he resisted at all, she reached out to grab the arm of another senshi (Centisima), trying to pull him out of the way as well.
By this point Palatine had hold of the tail. If they could break if off…
“Attack the tail!” she told the two she’d tried to drag along, and then raced forward to jump up and kick at the segmented tail between where Palatine was holding it and the youma’s body.

Scholomance Squire
Scholomance watched, unimpressed, as Andronicus temporarily charged out of sight. Soon her body was seized by the giant beast, and hurled toward two other knights who faced it. Scholomance tried to cast his magic upon them, to parse them out from each other so the squire flew through them harmlessly, but discovered then that his magic fostered a tether point - despite the try to cast upon them, it didn't work. Were they too far, then? Scholomance couldn't say.
It looks like everyone's intent on taking this beast out before they get anywhere. Let them, then. There's got to be a way around it to get to the rest of this place. They can have the brilliant blip in its grasp.
The squire shifted his attention from the battle to the walls surrounding the enormous cavern. He started a quick pace around the outer perimeter in search of evidence for doorways, passages, or other secluded means to leave the area. The scorpion looked thoroughly distracted; if he could find another exist, then he could most surely proceed without attracting any attention.

the first post says to just bold text for response, but I see other people quoting this mule so I am unsure if we're supposed to quote as well? but i did not see responses to my prior posts, so I assume that is correct

Centisima was grateful, if only because he didn’t think his legs were in any mood to get his body up from the ground on his own. He let the other senshi (Varuna)drag him up and further away from the youma, before shaking himself free with an rasping, “thanks, yeah’ before she had darted away to continue the fight. Oh yes, he’d heard her instructions but he wasn’t entirely sure what good he could do now. He was out of magic (one use, really? thanks magical senshi gods) and with no weapon on hand, he was pretty sure he’d only get pulverized.
There had to be something else he could be- oh, that guy had the right idea! Centisima was definitely down for an alternate route, now that he’d survived his big bravado first charge. Not that he regretted the move but he was frustrated by a sudden welling feeling of uselessness. So when he spotted the- he still hadn’t gotten the proper term for the ‘Order people who weren’t senshi but seemed pretty tough’ (knights, he would learn later) – he immediately followed.
He trotted after Scholomance, keeping close to the wall and hoping the scorpion didn’t decide to swap its dubious affections.
The youma's tail made contact with the stone with a ground-shaking thump and Falias watched with a sense of sick fascination as liquid oozing from the tail sprayed out over stone and crystal, blue light dimming as the stuff ate through the crystal.
It had not occurred to him that the stuff had not seemed to affect the stones, most likely to the fact that he was feeling more than a little relieved that the stuff had fallen short of where he was - because seriously? Holy crap!
It did occur to him as the daylight glow of his aspect faded out that he should try to move further into the room and he did so after a quick side glance at those who about the entrance but who seemed to have missed the freaky acid youma spray too.
He moved away from the doorway and headed towards the closest pile of bones lying in the one of the corners, doing his best to keep an eye on the scorpion's movements as he tried to avoid where the venom had splashed.
Hopefully he would be lucky and there'd be something in the corner that he could use again the scorpion - something that was better than a wand.

Dallol, Squire of Uranus
When the ground shook so much that it almost threw Dallol off balance entirely, especially with the paucity of space afforded by the narrow stairwell and the pair of heels that the Squire was walking around with, Corinth's choice of action couldn't have been more timely in preventing her from falling - bless him and his reflexes.
"W-What was that?"
Releasing the grip that she had on the lapels of his coat, she rested a hand on his chest, taking a brief moment to compose herself and reassess the situation. "I'm alright. What about you?" Brushing her lips to his cheek to thank him for what he did, there was an unmistakeable rosy hue that coloured her cheeks and ears as she shifted to try to get up and dust herself off.
"Let's just keep going. The rest of them can't be far now."

Arthur the cat
He jerked at the sound of many class clacking sharply against stone as the Scorpion's massive weight shook the floor as it came racing not at him. It was clear the ball of light was seen as The Scorpions plaything and not for sharing.
He had to wonder how he always ended up aggravating every Youma he met and being just as useless every time. In a moment of deja vu, a senshi was on top of him to protect him from danger and he immediate felt the wash of guilt at placing her in that situation. He hasn't intended to bring anyone into his own dangers and he curled, looking up at her between the dark space she created to shield him. "I'm sorry!" He called up and turned. "Let's just run! I'll follow you."

Somewhere between the snow, the dangerously fragile stability of the place, and the Scorpion-youma's unexpected levels of dexterity, Kairatos found his carefully offered ideas going straight out the w... well... crumbled place in the wall that might have been a window once, and himself trying to get back upright and away from slamming scorpion feet, swearing and deeply thankful that metal plating did at least protect most of his internal organs, even if his boots weren't exactly meant for snow.
Rocks and crystals bashing down all around hardly helped, though at least they offered something like traction to haul himself back to his feet, surrendering strategy in order to just swing a furious punch at the nearest part of the scorpion, be it body or wildly swinging leg.
Scorpion limbs were at least sort of set in articulation, fracturing it's exoskeleton might well reduce it's mobility. Maybe. He hoped. At least it was better than trying to worry about how many new bruises and cuts he probably had from near misses from those feet, and being hailed on by chunks of crystal.
Athene had stared at the tail that was headed in the direction of the doorway - and thus by extension himself, Alcor, Liryn, Eleonora and the small group of others by the foot of the stairs - for a moment in horrified fascination before moving to reach out to Alcor in an attempt to try and tug the two of them to the side and out of the way.
"Watch out!" He called out a warning to Liryn and Eleonora as he did so - although it was hard to see how they could miss the incoming tail given that he had seen it and they were just up ahead.
The tail smashed into stone with enough force to set the ground shaking, the spray of venom just falling short of them.
Athene watched for a moment in sick fascination as the stuff ate away at a crystal close to Liryn who had moved to stand protectively in front of Eleonora - complete with hands outstretched as if to present a bigger target which would have been comical given the height differences if not for the setting.
He moved closer to where Eleonora and Liryn were, eyes glancing at them a little anxiously for a few moments as he checked if they were okay and nodded when Liryn asked him and Eleonora whether they were okay.
And then he looked at the youma that appeared to be going crazy as it lashed out at those around it and his eyes stared at it in determination as he called on his magic "Blue Beads of Nazar – intensated!"
He wasn't sure if the magic would work or whether it could even trap something the size of the youma but he sent the beads that formed in its direction anyway.
Quote:
Blue Beads of Nazar – intensated Athene’s super level attack takes the form of a ‘ball of beads’ that can trap a target with ill will towards either Athene or one of his allies in a barrier of beads if it connects. (Ill will means that the target wishes to cause some form of harm to either Athene or his ally). Target can still jump, block, or strike with their weapon - but they cannot leave the ring of beads. Beads can be smashed by someone outside the barrier, smashing half (24 to 30) will bring down the barrier. Duration: About thirty seconds
--------------------------------------
Liryn had seen the incoming tail, however there hadn't been much time for him to think through a plan and so he had settled for standing in front of Eleonora with outstretched hands as he tried to brace himself.
However the venom fell just short of his position as it ate away at a nearby crystal.
He stared at it for a moment before turning to glance at back at Eleonora as his tabby ears twitched in concern "Are you okay?"
His purplish eyes moved to take in Athene walking towards him as he added "Are you guys okay too?"
He had been relieved when Athene had nodded and watched as Athene had moved to try and cast his super level attack on the scorpion before saying to the twins "Lets check one of the corners and see if we can find something to use against that thing - like perhaps one of the broken off crystals if we can find a big enough bit."
Although if it came to it, Liryn was pretty certain that he could use the kitty beam too, although it would probably be best as an absolute last resort.

Corinth, Page of Neptune
Corinth shook his head. "I don't know," he said. As she moved to dust herself off, he offered her a hand to help her up. The kiss against his cheek was welcome. And he made sure to keep one hand on the wall as he helped Dallol to her feet.
He was a bit nervous about the ground moving still - but as far as it went for now, they needed to get to the bottom of the stairs.
Taking Dallol's hand he nodded and slowly started them down the stairs.
Ananke blinked for a moment and then smiled brightly at Arthur and giggled. "It's alright! We're supposed to look after one another, right?" She then reached down and picked up the cat.
"Pardon the manhandling, but with this we can be one target together." She continued to do her best to make light of the situation... or maybe she didn't realize how dire the situation could get. She returned to a standing position and looked over to where the creature was...
"My abilities don't really allow me for direct attacks... Oh... my name is Ananke by the way. I know, worst time to be introducing myself." Ananke wasn't sure what she could do in this situation.
"So where do you think we should go?"

Grus
Grus watched the feathers slice at the scorpion, doing a bit of damage. She dodged as all manner of hell was breaking loose, and a leg swung out toward her while the creature skidded along on snow.
She rolled, feeling the ground shake beneath them, as well as the shouts of various attacks. The folks that fell through were gonna have to be careful to avoid the floor that had to be buckling.
She saw a familiar face in the Chaos: Athene. She watched him dodge the tail, and felt her heart leap into her throat. This thing was going to kill someone if they didn't take it down soon!
Another body on the sidelines caught her eye. She could tell he was alive, but he looked freaked. She ran her way over, watching the legs and making sure not to step in venom that was freaking everywhere. But someone got to him before she did, and she paused. No need to clump together too much. Instead, Grus decided to let her magic build up a bit more, and chose a large boulder to hide behind; just for a moment.
He had to give Altair and Newgrange credit. They were a lot more collected and willing to do things than him. As more rocks fell Paris yelped in surprise, nearly dropping his skull. This was bad on all accounts.
After Altair used her attack however, Paris was quickly looking for a way out moving whatever he could in attempts to find more stable ground. "I didn't come to die." He muttered. "I don't want to be burred alive." It sounded nicer than it was he imagined.
"Uh- New- Ne- Newgrange?" He shakily called out. "As risky as it is, i think you might need to do your thing. I'd rather try to get out and die than just wait to die."

The rage of the Scorpion was only increasing the more movement that happened around it. It couldn’t focus on one attack so its wild swings became even wilder striking at whatever it thought was alive!
One of those two massive claws first found Havasu, coming at him from his side striking hard and fast to send the Squire into flying backwards into the wall and crystals growing from it.
A pile of moving arms and legs that was Nirvana, Slievenamon, and Andronicus then drew its attention, but before it could hope to lash out, pain bought on an ungodly sound from the creature. Something…Palatine…had ahold of its tail and was pulling! How dare she! Fighting against her hold, the Scorpion worked to lift her off her feet to shake her off only to have Varuna take all future use of its stinger away!
The pair had only managed to remove the top segment but with it, the stinger was sent flying away and straight at Scholomance and Centisima! While it was no longer a threat of being swung by the youma itself, it still had some life left within it! Twitching outward, the stinger was still trying to strike out with that horrible venom! A defensive tactic against predators or simply those who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
But that was it! If the visitors had thought that the youma was going berserk before, it truly was now.
Getting back to its feet, it lashed out in every direction, pointed feet smashing down on the ground as it did so. When the when from Andronicus mace made contact, it did not damage a leg but it did sent it flying towards Kairatos and thus into his hit. The punch and force would leave damage to both sides. Painful fists and a cracked exoskeleton. But it was proof this thing could be broken!
The sensation of Grus diving behind a boulder drew its claw back. Just as it was about to smash the boulder she was hiding behind, it found it could not move outside of the ring of beads that formed around it and anyone close enough to it.Athene’s attack had trapped it in place…for now.
That left a moment for those who had dove to the corners to dig through the bone piles. Cloth was all that was left on some of them but even those were turning to dust in their hands. Falias and Liryn would find the bones themselves were the best weapon around…or that acid venom around them.
Arthur and Ananke would see this moment as a chance to move. With limited range of motion, running now would be the best bet! -- Upstairs, the late comers Corinth and Dallol could hear the noise from below. If they didn’t hurry, they might miss all the fun! -- In the battle, things appeared to be going the ‘visitors’ way. Locked away though, Altair’s attack made things worse.
The scalpels that struck the rocks did not do more than slice away at the old wood before being blasted back in random directions around the room and towards the three visitors.
As Paris began searching though, he would find that moving one of the smaller stones caused a larger one near the door to shift. The larger one blocking them was balanced on some of the smaller ones that could be grabbed or moved around.
Quote:
If anyone would like to take more severe damage, please let this mule know! Would be happy to make your experience as painful as you desire! The Scorpion Youma is taking a beating so get your strikes in!
The sounds he was hearing at the bottom of the stairs prompted Corinth to tighten his grip on Dallol's hand. He increased his pace down the stairs, hoping he wasn't pulling her off balance as he did so.
Once they reached the bottom of the stairs, and entered the room where the combat was Corinth released Dallol's hand with a wince as he looked upon the damaged, angry scorpion youma.
Corinth did his best do avoid the puddles of acid and the stuff dripping from the door frame. He was not looking forward to this. Turning to Dallol he nodded his head, knowing she was not going to like what he intended to do.
Noting that its stinger was gone, and all the venom around, he had a thought, and motioning to Dallol, tried to get her to go the opposite direction he did. Running along the right side of the youma, he attempted to land a running kick at the closest of the beast's legs - hoping to hit one of the joints.
