Turn 118-5 = 3 (100-3= 97 - 30 = 67%) The Battle Drone was getting, tired was it? Was that the right term these humans used? It knew that its power was low, even with its core rerouting as needed It had only been hit twice and it knew it was working on only half power. How was this pathetic human woman able to hit so hard? She had been a crying snotty mess when this all began. Things had changed so quickly. It's charges were not being aimed as well, and that it knew but it did not want to get close to the woman, she had been able to strike it. As the woman convulsed the Batte Drone beeped a few more times but the little girl that was still in the dreamscape shouted at it taking it's attention to her. Why was this woman hell bent on having the little s**t here? It was the reason the Battle Drone was able to land the hits. Wait. Then why would it want the girl to go away? It was tired. Rachel's shout to leave them alone however brought the Drone back to reality and it let itself drop to the ground to avoide the flying metal shard letting out a painful beep as its casing bounced on the hard ground. It wavered as it once more got off the ground though in each hand was more metal shards. This time it did not bother to charge them up but threw them right back at her. As those two had flown towards Rachel the Drone followed behind but went to attack the little girl that had screamed out at the Drone. It would love to rip her face open to horrify Rachel even more. Rachel Caldwell Turn 12 15 - 30 = -15 (100 - 1 = 99%) 99 - 30 (stamina rule) = 69% 2 hits 75 - 60 = 15 x 2 = 30 damageRachel was spent. Her attacks were no longer hitting and the boost she had recieved from her added confidence was waning fast. With how long she had been fighting coupled with the horrible injuries she had sustained the young woman had used all of her strength to survive to this point. Was this how it was going to end? Was this really her fate. She couldn't let it end like this, Sophia was still in danger. But what more could Rachel do in her current state? Not much is turned out. This answer came as the drone hurled the shards at her again. Though it also seemed to be slowing it did not appear to be in as bad of shape as her. The first shard went wide and missed we entirely, but the second slammed right into Rachel's gut. She felt the wind get knocked out ofher as she fell back on her hind quarters. Piece of its jagged edge also sliced through her clothes and cut a gash in her stomach. Lacking the air to scream in pain the poor girl just moaned as she slowly pulled the scrap out. However another scream filled the air in lew of her own. It was that of a young girl, her sister. The drone had changed targets and was charging towards the clearing girl who had been behind her older sister. With a speed she should have no longer possessed Rachel stumbles to her gett and ran. Everything seemed to move in slow motion as she moved. She saw her sister shaking, saw the drone slowly closing in. It had death in its mechanical eye as its talons reached for the young human that was its prey. Rachel's arms stretched out, she had to get there in time! With one last push from her legs the older sibling managed to leap in front of the younger one just before the drone struck. A scream finally escaped her lips as one of the drones arms peorced her chest. Blood spurted from her mouth and onto the robot as Rachel glared at it. She had done it, she 'd made it in time. But her rescue had come at a price. No longer possessing anymore strength Rachel began to fall backwards. Her eyes began to close as the blood stickler down her her chin, and she was sure this was finally it. As the raven haired yound woman fell back the little girl she had just saved stretched out we arms to catch her big sister. And then somethin strange happened. As Rachel made contact with Sophia the blonde girl burst into a golden light. A warmth enveloped her as the light spread out and intensified. Rachel then heard her sister's voice, but rather than coming from behind her it seemed to be coming from all around. "You have to survive big sister. You have to live on, for all of us..." Her voice was filled with a deep feelin of both love and sadness. The light began to condense around Rachel, closing in and causing her wounds to shine bright. Her injuries began to close and mend, and just before the light vanished it looked as if a little girl was hugging Rachel. Then light then flashes and was gone, and Rachel stood alone. Her injuries had all vanished as if they had never been there, and the little blonde girl was nowhere to be seen. Rachel looked around dumbfounded for a moment, trying to get her bearings and figure out what had just happened. "S-Sophia?... Sophia!?" Rachel franticly looked around for her sister, but the girl was nowhere to be found. At the ned of her short panic her eyes finally fell on the drone. Rachel's eyes narrowed as she focused on her foe. She didn't know what had just happened, but she knew this monster wa responsible for it. "What did you do?!" she cried out at it. For the first time on her life Rachel felt the firey surge of rage begin to over take her. The dream scale around her bgan to wrap as her rage boiled, and her hair began to flow up and out as if caught in some otherworldly energy field. Her eyes blazed with fire as they tried to bore holes through the booster drone. As she clenched her fist she suddenly felt the pipe from earlier clenched in it. He raised the weapon up to point at the drone. It was held tightly this time, an with her firey glare and the distortion around her Rachel actually looked menacing. "You did this!" she shouted at the A.I. angrily. Bringing her other Han up to grasp te pipe tighter she then lundged at the drone. The raven haired woman flew towards her opponent faster than she ever had, faster than should have been possible. Though she did not fully grasp it herself, her subconscious had finally realized this was a dream, her dream, and she was about to become a nightmare. Swinging the pipe at the drone like a real fighter she hoped to smash the metalic thing into a million pieces. The fight had just gotten serious. Turn 128-5 = 3 (100-3= 97 - 30 = 67%) The Battle Drone knew it still had a chance to kill this woman. She was bleeding and slowing down. Her very life was leaving her and this was all in her mind. How could she be so weak? It was a good thing this woman would not control it to fight others. As the shards went flying through the air the drone watched as one missed completely but felt a sense of joy as the second had dug deep into the womans gut. She was done for! It might not even have to go after the little girl! No, it would, it had not yet felt the pull to be able to take over Rachel's mind. It charged for the little girl ready to rip her shreds, was this bloodlust that had taken over it? This must surely be what its comrades felt when they were all in a fight. Somehow the damned woman made her way there in time and blocked the rendering attacks that came from the Drone's small hands. It ripped and shredded whatever flesh it could as it went into her chest feeling the warmth of her body up its arms as the red blood poured out. The Drone hovered back watching Rachel fall feeling glee. It was happening, she was dead! Soon it would control her perfectly healthy body and be able to move on! Then the bright light lit up the area and the Drone knew something was wrong. The woman was getting healed! How was this happening?! It had never heard of such a thing before. As the woman screamed at it for making the little girl going away it buzzed angrilly at her as it watched her pick up the pipe. It would not go down so easily now. For the first time in the fight the Drone knew it was fighting against someone more capable than they knew. The Drone easily dodged the pipe that was coming it's way and let itself fall to the ground. Now it did not need the power to hover the Drone reached out for her ankles while it rerouted the power to it's arm and charged shock wave after shockwave at her. More than she had ever wanted before she wanted to destroy something, and this drone was the target of her new found rage. As the machine dropped to the ground her gaze followed it, trying to will the thing to explode with her intense glare. Dd this thing really think it could win this fight? Even just 5 minutes ago Rachel would not have thoughts anywhere close to these, but all of a sudden it was like a switch ha been flipped. This A.I. Was going to pay, and Rachel was going to make sure of that. As the electric blasts came at her Rachel hardly even noticed. The first two missed as she stepped back to get a better shot at the drone, butthe second two bursts struck her in the shins. The energy coursed up her limbs but she managed to shake it off. The aura around her warping the dream scape flaired as she did this, turning a slight re before returning to just a distortion of the space around her. Swinging her pipe about Rachel held it over the drone's head pointing down at it. With a grunt of effort the raven haired girl thrusted the metal weapon down at the monster, hoping to scure it right through. Turn 1318-5 = 13 (100-13= 87 - 30 = 57%) The Booster Drone could see the mounting frustration in the girl--and it had to admit, it enjoyed it. It wanted her to be frustrated. It wanted her to feel like she was losing this fight--it wanted her to fail because of the anger she could not control. The Booster Drone watched as the electric shocks worked their way up the woman's legs. It could use the same electric shocks to stimulate an ally's muscles to cause them to work harder and more efficiently, but these shocks were not meant to do such a thing--oh no. This was meant for one purpose and one purpose only. It wanted to hurt the girl. It wanted to maim her and make sure that when she returned to the waking world, she regretted it all before she faced the drone. However, even after the strikes landed, the Booster Drone saw a change in the girl. It made very little sense to the A.I. Core. It could not understand why this girl had suddenly improved. Why was she stronger? It could not answer its own question, but it was like her resolve had worked its way into her mental state. This was her dream world after all--it would make sense that if she grew more resolved it could change her strength within such a dream. Damn it all! How could this be happening!? As she came in toward it another time, the Booster Drone was much less confident. As she thrust her weapon down, the speed and strength were both different--almost too dangerous for the Drone to comprehend as it swerved to the side quickly--fear driving its every move. A it retreated it let the first blast go--shooting the shockwave toward her mercilessly. It was followed by a second burst, both of them headed directly toward the girl's pretty little face. As it swerved around to the other side it suddenly blasted forward--it needed to kill this girl. It needed to kill her so damn badly. As it grew near it launched its attack, swinging toward her head once more with its thin little arms, trying to punch the girl in the face. It knew she was rather resilient from the way she shrugged off most of its attacks, but this would be different--it had to be. As soon as it had swung its arm for the strike, it was jetting back out of range before shooting one last blast towards her legs once more--hoping to fry the woman's nerves so she couldn't walk around anymore. Rachel Caldwell Turn 14 50 - 15 = -35 (100 - 1 = 99%) 99% - 30% (stamina rule) = 69% 1 hit 75 - 60 = 15 damageRachel leered at the A.I. as is narrowly dodged her attacked. The metal pipe embedded itself deep in the soft earth as the drone barely avoided the blow. She had just landed a few hits before, why could she not hit the damn thing anymore? Something about the robot had seemed to change, it did not appear as cocky as it had been earlier in their fight. Perhaps that meant it was slowing down and tiring out? Good, the sooner it gave in the sooner Rachel could destroy the infernal thing so it couldn't hurt anyone ever again. Gasping her pipe firmly the black haired girl pulled up on it to retrieve her weapon. However the pipe remained lodged in the dirt and would not budge. Growling at her rotten luck she pulled again as the drone began to launch its attacks. Seeing the electrical blasts coming at her out of the corner of her eye Rachel narrowly avoided them by ducking just in the nick of time. getting back up quickly she tried once more to remove her weapon from the ground. However in doing this she focused on the pipe rather than the drone which proved to be a mistake. As she struggled with the metal object the boost drone came rocketing in, and its mechanical arm connected right to Rachel's jaw. With a jerk she lost her footing and the girl tumbled to the ground. The attack caught her off guard, but much to Rachel's surprise it had not hurt nearly as much as the attacks from before. Rather than having any sort of cut or wound on her cheek from the blow Rachel merely had a bit of a scratch where the metal limb had struck her. Groaning as she picked herself up from the dirt Rachel saw the drone charging up another attack. With a roll she easily dodged the last blast directed towards her as it blackened the ground where she had just been laying. Rachel was getting tired of this A.I.'s electric attacks, and she needed to put an end to them before anymore hit. Once the adrenaline wore off Rachel would surely feel all the burns from the charges that had struck her already, not to mention what all that electricity was doing to her nerves. Looking around for a new weapon Rachel soon spotted just what she needed. As the raven haired girl stood again she held in her hand what looked like the lid to an escape hatch. With the smooth metal disk held in her right hand like a shield the young woman readied herself for another attack. As she charged forward the distortion around her again flared up, and Rachel felt a sudden burst of strength. She was moving faster and felt sure she could hit this stupid drone even harder now. As she drew in close Rachel threw out a right hook, leading with the edge of the shield at the drone's 'face'. This she followed up with a back handed swing aiming to bash the metal beast into a million pieces. Rachel then finished her assault by bringing the shield around over her head to smash down on the booster drone with a hammer fist. Rachel would smash this thing if it was the last thing she did. She owed her sister that much to survive this fight and destroy the monster that had taken Sophia from her. Turn 14Rachel's Attack: 18-5 = 13 (100-13= 87 - 30 = 57%) Failed! 90 - 15 = 75 Damage As the booster drone has successfully avoided the woman's attack, she seemed slightly frustrated--a frustration that the drone could sympathise with. It was missing most of its attacks on this feeble little girl as well. How was it that she was so successfully avoiding it? How was she finding this new-found strength on such a regular basis. How was she doing it god damnit!? How!? The drone's own frustration was reaching a boiling point as the woman ducked low and avoided the first two blasts that it had unleashed towards her. It wouldn't give up though, because even as she returned her attention to the stuck weapon, it was rushing toward her and its metal fist slammed into her jaw with a resounding thud. Her face snapped to the side and it gained a brief feeling of satisfaction before it returned to shooting another blast toward her dazed form. However, she quickly rolled out of the way and sprung to her feet to resume her own set of attacks. As she flew forwards, the drone was shocked by how swift she was. The item she had picked up to use as a make-shift shield was laughable, and the drone was about to taunt the girl before she was suddenly in front of it. How. Was. She. So. Fast? The disc she held was swung with all the girl's strength and it immediately smashed into the front of the Booster Drone's face, crushing the eye on the front of its head in and sinking so deep into the structure of the drone's head that it would have been hard for her to tear the disc out of its face in order to smash it again. The machine lay crumpled on the ground, and as its body seemed to twitch--trying to get back up--it let one last little shudder out before its body began to decompose into pure code. The code began to shine brightly before it swirled around and around and shot towards Rachel. The bright string of letter, numbers, and symbols would shoot right into the pink bow on top of Rachel's head, and it would change the appearance of the item ever so slightly--in accordance to the look of the booster drone. This battle was over. Rachel would slowly regain consciousness, to which she would be informed that she had passed her test, and she was a full fledged baiter, now. Sure she was still just a trainee, like the other beginners, but she was a part of the organization at the very least. She would also be informed of the tournament going on in the Headquarters, in case she wanted to go and see the other new baiters, or she could always go to the HQ to get herself involved in a mission right away, since she had not been inducted into the tournament herself. Rachel CaldwellAs her makeshift shield slammed into the booster drone Rachel took a small amount of satisfaction in the crunching noise it made. This machine had hurt its last human, Rachel had now made sure of that. Unable to pull the disk from where it was lodged in the drone's face Rachel let the pile of scrap fall the the ground with a crunch. For a moment Rachel just stood over the thing, breathing heavily as she glared at her opponent. She did it... She had actually done it. The timid, frightened little girl from the ruins of San Fransisco had managed to defeat an A.I. in a fight all on her own. A sense of pride began to well up inside of the young woman. She could actually fight these things. Just wait until she told... The realization hit her like a freight train. It killed the fire in her and made her blood run cold. Ϩamantha ᾏtherton “Now boarding Train 1395 to Toronto. Train 1395 to Toronto is now boarding.” The voice on the intercom repeated itself several times before shutting off. Samantha had already slung her bag over her shoulder and started moving through the crowd to the platform after the first announcement. She looked like the poster child for runaway teens as she showed her ticket to the conductor. Her baggy blue cargo pants, black t-shirt and unkempt appearance cause the man to pause before punching her ticket. She moved passed him and started to look for a seat. Samantha chose one next to a window. She gazed out at the families were saying their goodbyes, displaying their affection with hugs and kisses and tears in their eyes. She was pretty sure if she had given them proper notice, her family would gladly have been there to see her off. But she didn't, if simply to not have them attempt to talk her out of leaving. She had enough trouble with her school counselor trying to convince her not to go. She sighed at the small woman's conviction. Samantha pulled her music player out and put on her headphones. Pressing play and closing her eyes, Samantha let the sounds of rock music drown out the whistle of the train as it pulled away from the station.
Samantha sat in the counselor's office. The secretary said Dr. Marsha Gregory was expecting her and would return soon but Samantha had been waiting almost an hour. The office was adorned with plaques, rewards, plants and what looked to be pictures with letters of thanks. Samantha's attention was on a picture of a tall man in a cap and gown next to a very short woman in a white suit. “Couldn't have done it without you.” - Jacob Washington. From what she had heard about the woman, Samantha knew she was the person who got the toughest cases and had the most successful students. Samantha had been sent to see her after asking one of her teachers about the H.A.L.F. She chuckled when she remember the horror in Mr. Herbert's face when she told him that she wanted to take it. His immediate response was to send her here. The door to her left opened and an older version of the lady in the photo entered the room. She was wearing blue pantsuit with a bright yellow shirt.
“Hello, dear,” she said as she shut the door. She sounded like some English nanny from an old movie. “I am Dr. Marsha Gregory. I believe Mr. Herbert sent you to see me.”
“Yes ma'am.” Samantha stood and shook the woman's hand. “I'm Samantha, but you can call me Sam. Everyone else does.”
“Well, Sam,” she gestured for Samantha to sit as she did, “do you understand why you were sent to me?”
Samantha sat and thought a moment. “I want to take the H.A.L.F.”
“Precisely. And why would you want to something that almost guarantees your death?”
“I'm bored. I want to do something exciting. B.A.I.T.R. helps protect us and I'd like to be apart of that.”
“A noble ambition but a foolish one indeed. When one is bored, they get a hobby like sports or art. This is your third year of college. Young women, such as yourself, take pottery classes or join a gym. They do not go off to throw their lives away for adventure.”
“How is it throwing my life away? You assume the test will just kill me.” “Yes, my dear, I do. Many have died before you.” the doctor's tone grew stern. “That test is not for the frivolous boredom of a girl who belongs in school.”
Biting back an angry retort, Samantha glared at the doctor.
Ignoring the glare, the doctor continued, “Now tell me about your family. How would they feel about you going through the H.A.L.F. process?”
“They would support my decision.” Samantha lied.
“Is that so? Because I spoke with your mother and she completely opposed to her youngest daughter's decision. We discuss at length your inferiority complex with your other siblings.”
“I don't have any complex.” Samantha Growled “They found things they were good at and I still haven't.”
“And you think doing this will set you apart from them? Will it make it better than your brother Jason, the football player or Christine, who became a lawyer like your mother?”
“No. But neither would sitting around here with no clue what I actually want to do in life. I can't go to school forever.”
“Yes but here you are alive. You have a future here and time to figure out what you want to do in life. You aren't a bad student. B's and C's are a leap above what Jacob here was achieving.” She motioned to the picture. “He still graduated and became an automotive mechanic. We will put off this nonsense thinking and meet once a week from here on out. Together we will find your muse and set you up for a successful future that does not include certain death.”
Samantha let her features relax. She looked right out the window, unsure of what pissed her off more, Dr. Gregory's know-it-all attitude or the assumption that Samantha would just agree with her plan. She knew the best course of action.
“Fine.” Samantha said.
“I'm glad you see it my way.” Dr. Gregory seemed to be gloating. “We will meet to fit your current schedule. Every Thursday at four o'clock.”
“Yes ma'am.”
Samantha stood, shook the doctor's hand and left the room. She shivered after leaving the office. She felt swindled into agreeing to the old lady's terms. Dr. Gregory seemed so sure of herself, almost like she was looking down on Samantha. Her attitude reminded Samantha of her cousin Alex. So smug and condescending.
“Sam!”
The voice snapped her from her thoughts. It was Sterling, a friend from math. She had a thing for him at first but she found out that he like some of the same guys she did. He had an athletic build and long blonde hair and was wearing jean shorts and a rainbow tie dye shirt He fell into step beside her. “I heard you made Prof. Herbert wet himself.” Sterling joked.
“I did not. He freaked out for no reason. Had me talk the Dr. Gregory. She seems to think she can set me on the right path. I have to see her once a week now.”
“Well you've got to be mental to think you can just drop out to go to B.A.I.T.R. I don't have to be a shrink to tell you that.”
They exited the building. The courtyard was bright and sunny. Students were moving on to their next classes or to the dorms.
“Is it so wrong for me to want to do something else? I've been here three years and my major is still liberal arts.” Samantha lamented. “The old crone even called my mom. I feel like I'm back in elementary school.”
“Well why not just go then? Not like she can put you in detention.”
Samantha stopped walking. Sterling stopped a few steps ahead of her.
“You're not taking me seriously, are you?” Sterling asked.
“I mean it's not hard to get a train ticket to Toronto.”
“Oh my ******** hell on high heels, you cannot be serious.”
“You'll give me a ride to the station, right?”
“And become an accomplice? Hell no!”
“Oh come on, Sterling. You have to. You owe me.”
“Oh how so?”
“Who carried you home after you got s**t-faced at that frat party?”
“You did.”
“And who kept you from hooking up with Harry “Herpes Hazard” Harrison?”
“You did.”
“And who...”
“Okay okay, I get it. I owe you maybe a few favors. But if this gets you six feet deep, it won't be on my head.”
“Why does everyone assume I'll die?”
“Because the pretty ones die young. Come on before I change my mind.”
A tap on her shoulder jerked Samantha awake. She pulled down her headphones and blinked at the woman who had woke her.
“I'm sorry I startled you, miss.” The woman said. “We've arrived in Toronto.” Samantha rubbed her eyes and yawned.
“Thank you. Sorry for the trouble.” She said as she stopped her music and gathered her things. The woman moved aside and led Samantha to the exit.
“Thank you for using the railways. Farewell.”
The woman's practiced salutation brought a smile to Samantha's face. She left the station, pulling up a map of the city on her phone to find the B.A.I.T.R. headquarters and a place to eat. As she walked she became more and more anxious. What if she were making a big mistake? What if she really did die? How would that affect her family? Even if she did survive, she wasn't much of a fighter. What kind of job would they give her? These questions and more swirled around after she acquired a cheeseburger. They distracted her to where she almost forgot to ask for a bun without sesame seeds. It would have been more of a tragedy if she died from an allergic reaction before she even made it to the B.A.I.T.R. building. She berated herself for nearly making a fatal error as she continued to walk and eat until she came to the base. Once inside, Samantha stuff the remainder of her burger in her pocket and approached the front desk. A young man greeted her with a smile.
“Samantha Atherton, here for the H.A.L.F.”
“Identification please.”
Samantha presented the document.
“The doctor will be with you in a moment. Please have a seat.”
“Thank you.”
Samantha sat down and tried to relax. She toyed with her hair as she waited. “Samantha Atherton?” the doctor called.
“Yes.” Samantha stood. The doctor motioned her to follow. Samantha was relieved that it was a woman. Male doctor reminded her of her father and made her feel awkward. They came to a room and the doctor turned to Samantha.
“What do would you want to use for your core?” the doctor asked. Samantha paused for a moment. The reality of what was about to happen suddenly hit her. She touched the necklace under her shirt. Her grandmother had given the blue stone to her as a young girl and she worn it on a gold chain everyday since. It felt almost perfect.
“Will this do?” Samantha asked, handing over the necklace.
“Of course. Now onto the table you go.”
Samantha obeyed.
“Now sweet dreams.” The doctor put a mask on Samantha’s face and she drifted into unconsciousness. LINES: 98

Initiative Roll
The doctor had done this hundreds of times before, already used to the people who came and gone, refusing to memorize anyone's face anymore. Just in case. This girl was no different, the college student who's name he had glanced at, and face he had barely even seen. He did, however, see the look she wore on her face when she touched her necklace, choosing that to be her core. The thing which would hold her AI in it until the end. She seemed attached to it, like it was the most important thing in the world to her. The unremarkable girl handed it over, and the doctor took it gingerly in his hands as the girl asked if it was good enough. Nodding, he responded kindly, letting her know that it absolutely was, before asking her to lay on the table. Quickly, the doctor placed the jewelry on a small table to the side, placing her new AI into the pendant. Then, finally, the girl was put to sleep, and her fight began. Inside the girls head, a monster lay in wait, dragging its long arms along the ground as it waited for the land to form around it. Ah, it was placed in some poor unfortunate souls mind, and was soon to be crushed beneath it's absolute power and might. The Undead felt powerful, ready to seize control over this poor unsuspecting girl. If its face could grin, it would have. And yet, all it could do was wait. Wait for that moment to pounce, and kill it's opponent with one good powerful swing. Ϩamantha ᾏtherton Turn 1 10 - 11 = 1 - 100 = 99% Chance Samantha opened her eyes. The last thing she remembered was lying on the cold, hard table in the doctor's office. She stood next to a slide in a park playground where she and her siblings played in a lot during her childhood. It was exactly as it always was. From the swing set with the fifth swing on the end hanging from a single chain to the steel and wood fort with its tunnels and walkways winding around a fireman’s pole. She didn’t have to turn around to know there was a field of grass behind her. Even the smell of burning charcoal and fresh cut grass filled the air. It was a place she had always found to be comfortable and safe. In the distance, Sam could hear the sound of children playing. She couldn’t see them, but the distinct shriek of screaming and laughter sounded in her ears. In front of her, was only a hideous creature, its glowing eyes boring down on her like a predator sizing up its prey. The creature was perverting her sanctuary, a skeletal specter casting a shadow of fear on what was supposed to be a place of fun and happiness. A sort of anger filled her at this. The creature entered her space, a place where she previously felt secure, and at home. But now, she could only feel anger and fear, chilling her very core.
That was the A.I. she was suppose to be fighting, but she didn't have a weapon. Terrified, knowing there was no way she could take that thing on barehanded, Samantha began to back away. Panic began to enter her mind as she thought about taking the thing on, making her feet move faster. As she backpedaled, her foot hit something buried in the sand, causing her to nearly trip and fall. It was a metal bat that belonged to her brother, Edward. His initials were scrawled on the handle and every ding and scratch exactly where she remembered. After a long day of running around, playing tag and catch, climbing on everything in sight, he’d always forget to bring it home when they went home. An image of her brother's face flashed before her eyes. His short, spiky dark brown hair, filled with sand from rolling all over the playground, with the soft goofy grin he always gave her, his soft blue eyes staring back at hers, complementing the hearty laugh he had even as a child. If she lost this fight, she would never see her favorite brother or any of her family again. A sickening feeling gripped her as she imagined how they would feel, especially since they didn’t have a chance to say goodbye. Samantha picked the bat, gripping it with both of her hands. It felt as hard as her newly found resolve as she charged the monster, swinging at its head with all of her might.Quote: B.A.I.T.R Standing: 17.5 Health: 300/300 Control Limit: 140 Skill: 13 [] Strength: 11 [] Defence: 11 [] Quote: Tactical Advantages None - Level 0 N/A - N/ALine Count: 163

Turn 1 11 - 8 = 3 - 100 = 97% Chance The world around it finally began to form and the Undead stirred in its unholy existence. A short groan escaped its lips as it laid eyes upon the girl it was to fight. Her. It would be she would it would kill this day and finally be free to do as it pleased. Free to roam the streets, killing of its own accord once again! Oh how it longed for the day, how it longed to spill its own blood on its enemies, then tearing them apart limb from limb. It almost let out a chuckle as the girls world formed around it. A play ground? A mere child's play area. It would tear it down too, burnin it down with its own unhallowed fury. A shiver of anticipation crawled down its spine as it saw the girl's face the first time. Was that fear it saw? It smelled, even? Oh how marvelous! Oh, how absolutely delicious. Oh, but soon that fear dissipated. What replaced it, it wondered? That was anger on her face! The Undead let out a cold, irreverent laugh. This was the best day. The best day indeed! It almost drooled as the girl game at it, fury and sickness written all over her face like she was a poster. “Yes! Come at me, child!” It screamed, welcoming her attack with open arms. It was beautiful. So fantastically marvelous what was happening. And the girls attack wouldn’t hit, oh no it couldn’t happen. With a quick slap of its boney whip-like arm. The Undead slapped the bat away from its head. A crazy grin spread across the things face like wildfire. The girls fear coursed through his veins, giving the AI a reason to live, a reason to breath. The malignant creature raised its very same hand above its head, glowing eyes bright with excitement, and slammed it down on the girl, aiming directly for the pretty little things face. Oh, how it wanted to see the blood splatter, and to hear her bones splinter beneath its own skeletal form. It longed for it, longed for the refreshing feeling of freedom at the expense of another. Another sick laugh escaped its teeth. This would be a fun battle yet. Ϩamantha ᾏtherton Turn 2 10 - 11 = 1 - 100 = 99% Chance Samantha was shocked. The creature was laughing at her, taunting her to attack it and when her blow was about to connect, the monster swatted it away as if it were nothing. The impact reverberated through the metal causing Samantha's hand to ache as she struggled to keep a hold on her weapon. The A.I. swung at her, the attack coming from overhead and clearly aimed for her face. She dove to the side quickly in order to avoided getting her skull smashed into little bits. Hitting the ground hard, she felt the sand tear away the skin on her right arm and the rough fabric of her pants scratch her hip and thigh. The bat fell from her hand and clattered to the ground a foot away. Samantha clambered to retrieve it, hurrying to get to her feet. She didn't bother to dust herself off or to wipe away the blood that dribbled down her arm. Her hands were throbbing and focusing was difficult with the sting of air and sand on a fresh wound. The pain only made her angrier at this abomination, made her want to cause it the same pain and worse. She had never wanted to kill anyone or anything before, but in that moment it was all that was on her mind. The thing's eyes were glowing more fiercely than in the beginning, making it look even more terrifying. Samantha couldn't give into fear, not now. She had to win, and fear would not get her any closer to her goal. Instead she let her anger grow, imagining herself smashing in the horror’s smug face. It had laughed at her, taunted her and tried to kill her. It didn’t care if she lived or saw her family again. It had no respect for the place where they were fighting. Her fingers gripped on the bat tightened as she grit her teeth, irritated. It couldn’t possibly understand, it was only here for one purpose and that was to test her. She would pass this test and any others that came her way. She wouldn’t give up, she wouldn’t quit, and she sure as hell wouldn't die. Attacking again, she mimicked the creature's overhead strike coming down hard with both hands on the bat then kicking straight out in an attempt to catch it off guard. This fight was far from over, and Samantha was determined not only to prove she was no pushover, but to utterly destroy the arrogant monstrosity, to make it regret ever showing its revolting face to her. Turn 2 11 - 8 = 3 - 100 = 97% Chance The Undead laughed again. This puny human thought she was a match for the power and glory that was this AI. It was laughable. The girl barely had enough power of will to keep going. As she fell on the ground, scraping up her arm in the sand, it couldn’t help but imagine her head smashed into the sand. What her blood would look like spider webbing through the sand as the AI turned her into a lovely plate of spaghetti. While it imagined this, the girl clamored for her chosen weapon, still attempting to make this a battle, attempting to fight back. Hmmmm it was so lovely to see her struggle, to see her work so hard at this. The mixed emotions that showed so plainly on her face made the Undead AI so happy. So very happy indeed. Ohhhh and the little girl was getting angry, the emotion twisting her features into a lovely subtle grimace. The girl dashed toward her, letting her emotion dictate her attacks. Oh, how marvelous. Oh how fantastic! It’s eyes glowed with eagerness as the girl came forth, swinging her bat for a hit. Her first attack came swinging down, a similar attack to what it had done at first. A simple maneuver to dodge the attack. The Undead moved back, laughing as it did so. This battle was going to last a while, but the Undead didn’t mind. As long as it would eventually manage to murder this silly little girl, it didn’t matter. The next attack was a bit of a surprise, but nothing it couldn’t really handle. The AI smacked down at her again to retaliate, slapping at her side with its long bony arms. It attacked viciously, aiming to tear her flesh from her bones. To see her beautiful bright red entrails. It shivered. It was ready for this fight to get good. Ϩamantha ᾏtherton Turn 3 10 - 11 = 1 - 100 = 99% Chance Samantha missed again. She couldn't hit it at all and began to get frustrated. When the monster struck back, it aimed for her midsection as if to slice her in two. She stepped back quickly, nearly slipping in the sand but managed to keep her footing. Her breathing was quick and had a slight rasp, her hands were shaking, and she could hear her heartbeat pulsing loudly as though she had her head on her chest. The blood from the wound on her arm felt uncomfortable and sticky. Her hair had started loosening itself from the bonds of her scrunchie and was stuck to her face and neck with sweat. The creature had laughed again, seeming to be enjoying itself. Its intent was as clear as hers, and she understood that it had a better chance to fulfill its desire. Samantha was unused to such exertions and the AI had barely moved at all. Her arms were sore and her legs ached from the attacking and dodging and she was hot and dirty from the ordeal. She wasn't sure how long she could keep it up. The skeletal figure's gazed pierced through her and made Samantha uneasy, its eyes glowing as bright as ever. It was as though a blue fire was emitting from the exposed skull. While she hadn't been able to land a blow, neither had the creature, though she considered that more from luck than skill. She started having doubts that the bat could even hurt this thing. If the bat couldn't kill, she certainly would be hard pressed without it. She suddenly felt the urge to run. A fear took hold of her, hopelessness and defeat grew in her like a cancer that threatened to devour her entire being. Taking another step back, her grip on the bat began loosening. She needed a new strategy, or else this fight would drag on until she was too tired to move. Then she would be at the mercy of a creature that clearly wanted to gut her like a trout. She had absolutely no combat experience and her options were limited to just swinging the bat that never connected. Samantha was still unsure but moved forward clenching the bat again, still set on completing the fight. Even if she ran away, where would she go? Her body was on the table in the base. Samantha was trapped in her own mind with a being she couldn't imagine in her worst nightmares. She couldn't stop now, not after she had come so far. This thing had to a weakness of some sort, she only had to find it and exploit it. Samantha rushed forward, holding the bat low. She swung upward in an arcing motion, an attempt to throw it off balance, after which she kicked out at its legs to trip it. Perhaps if she knocked it over, beating it senseless would be easy. Brutal thoughts entered her mind as a grin spread across her face.
