Nae smiled. Why did she get such pleasure knowing that he liked her and not Calli? Well, he didn't know her yet. She was sweetheart, she wanted to change her world. But she was naive, even more so than the new human Kanae. She had been trapped inside the palace walls for so long that she knew nothing of the outside world. Whereas Nae loved adventure and exploration. She knew Bania's streets better than the princess herself! Nae kissed Richard back, smiling against his lips. "I'll keep that in mind.." Her voice trailed off his he nipped at her ear, kissed her again, then got off her. She watched, still topless on the couch, as he stretched. Her heart fluttered again, his muscles further defined as he flexed in all the right places. Nae was blushing harder, and he eventually stood up, revealing a huge bulge in his pants. She had to force herself to look away from his ... rather large package. "Rule breaking is sort of my thing." Absently, she picked at her lose curls, which were all over the place now. "As for our absence, you're right. I'm sure it's close to dinner time. And they'll be wondering where you are regardless. We should be getting ready for dinner, since it's kind of a big thing." Yeah, it was all anyone around here talked about lately.
"I think my outfit and stuff is in my room, so we could walk back through yours if that's alright?" Nae got up to locate her top, then looked back at him just as he took a swig from the wine. Her head still felt fuzzy, but she walked over to him anyway, standing a little closer than normal comfort zones allow. "I could use another one of those before we head to this thing." Nae smiled, reached out, and brushed her fingers against his. If she could just stay focused... she could easily have him wrapped around her finger.

Nae declared herself a rule breaker, to which Richard smirked. Yes, they seemed to have some things in common. And he didn't doubt it considering what happened... and that she was supposed to be friends with the Princess. But even then, Richard couldn't blame her. He was a Prince after all, and as many girls would attest, a very sexy one at that. And he always got what he wanted. Always.
"Yeah, we can go back in the way we came." Richard confirmed. He could take her back in through his rooms and she would go out as if he had never left, with his guards thinking the obvious, but certainly weren't going to say anything. That is, if they hadn't already discovered he was gone.
After he chugged the wine, Nae was still topless when she came over and stopped very close to him, asking for a drink, her hand brushing his as she reached for the bottle.
Richard jerked the bottle up and out of her reach, using his height against her, but with a teasing grin, and then his other arm wrapped around her as he came in for another kiss. Then he pressed the bottle into her hand during the kiss, before pulling back. "All yours baby. Hope you can handle it." he said, then chuckled and pulled away entirely, heading for the door, though he then had to wait for her to put her shirt back on before they exited.
Richard could be romantic. Especially if it got him what he wanted.
"Now we really have to avoid the guards... but at least it's dark now. That makes it easier." he observed, looking through the blinds on the window next to the door.
Soon they were outside and sneaking along, stopping occasionally when a guard neared in the distance and avoiding him. They had flashlights which at least made them easy to see.
After skirting around and getting onto the path that lead down to the beaches things relaxed a bit, though Richard did see one guard walking along the beach ahead of them, safely out of the way. He was already passed Richard's room long before they reached it.
However, as they began to walk up the stairs to his deck, Richard stopped Nae and put a finger to his lips, then bent down to whisper in her ear.
"They weren't back here before, just... wait quietly until I get you." he said, before turning and heading on up the rest of the stairs.
He sauntered into his bedroom only to find, sure enough, his father the King himself sitting in the chair by the desk facing the bed and the deck beyond it. Close ******** call. But, while it was rarely his father, this kind of thing had happened to him often enough to know better on when to try sneaking a girl into his rooms after pulling a disappearing act.
"Richard Maximus Blackwood." His father's voice boomed. The very same one that rang out to the crowds at public events hosted by his royal family.
"Sneaking back in again when you should be ready and downstairs for one of the most important events of your life. You better not screw this up, son. A lot is riding on this alliance and I can't have you're incompetence getting in the way again. You need to get you're priorities straight, now and get downstairs and be the Prince and heir to the throne you are supposed to be. You have 10 minutes." With that, he didn't even wait for a response from Richard, who just stood there stoically, while his insides boiled. It was incredibly difficult for him to contain himself, but his father was the one person that forced him ********' d**k." Richard muttered after his father left the room, then he went back out to the deck to get Nae.
'Cause I took that s**t out.

Nae was swept into Richards arms. Her, still mostly bare body, pressed against him. She could feel his muscles beneath his shirt, her heart raced again. When she stumbled out of his arms the bottle of wine rested in her hand. She hadn't even noticed he put it there!
"All yours baby. Hope you can handle it." He laughed, moving completely away from her. Kanae had to catch her breath before finishing off the bottle of wine. She tossed it onto the floor without a care, located her shirt, and slipped it over her head.
They walked together through the garden, avoiding the guards in the darkness. Thankfully the guards were the ones with the lights. Clearly they were searching more than just patrolling. Nae knew what it looked like when they were on a mission versus lazily doing their job by walking around with their thumbs up their butts. That's if they even walked around at all! They really usually made it simple to avoid them. This time was a bit trickier. They ended up squeezing close together to make themselves inconspicuous, making Nae sure the guard would hear her heart racking against her chest. If not the guard, Richard had to. But they made it safely unseen to the back of his hall, just on the stairs. He stopped her, putting his finger to his own lips. His warm breath coated her neck, sending her body into a shiver. But she needed to focus. She needed to be quiet and wait for him.
After a moment or so, she heard a booming voice demanding things. But the door was closed, so it was muffled. Great.
Kanae sighed, maybe she should just sneak around to her back patio stairs... But she wanted to see Richard. Stupid, stupid girl.
Just as she was about to step off the stairs, Richard appeared at the top of the stairs. Nae smiled without realizing it and slowly walked up to meet him at the top of the stairs. "Hi." She whispered. "Listen, I'll go in my back patio. Less guards, probably the best idea. Plus, Cal may come looking for me before meeting her future husband. She's been nervous. I'll bet it's worse after getting herself lost in the city." She was curious as to how she made it back anyway. The girl really was clueless. Sweet, but clueless. "Kiss me before I go?" Her voice caught in her throat, but she managed to ask and look up at Richards blue eyes through her lashes, smiling sweetly.

 Nic was almost tripping out from the way the Princess was looking at him, while looking like that. Dashing. He was dashing? He could have laughed at that if his voice wasn't so caught in his throat. No one had every called him dashing before in his life.
"Um, thank you. Princess." he answered a bit delayed, swallowing deeply. Nic felt like he couldn't look away from her, or at least he certainly didn't want to.
"My leg?" he asked absently, and it seemed like only then did the pain come back once mentioned. Yeah he'd gotten stitches and it ******** hurt.
"I mean, yes. All stitched and bandaged up." he explained, and shook his leg out as if to show it was fine.
Then the Princess was talking about this "Nae" again, which somehow disappointed him. Particularly since it had sounded earlier like Calli was trying to set him up with her friend, but of course.... Of course even that should be amazing, whether or not it worked out. It wasn't like he stood much of a chance with anyone but possibly a maid in the castle, much less the Princess herself.
He just nodded, keeping his face as stoic as possible, particularly when she mentioned meeting the Prince for the first time. Her future husband. And probably a d**k. Nic was pretty sure he had heard the Prince Heir of Andor was a d**k.
"What? Oh- yes." Nic said as Calliope slipped her arm through his and lead him into the dining room. He was walking into a formal dinner on the arm of the Princess. What the ********? This whole thing seemed so surreal. Even if there wasn't anyone here yet really, but there would be and... and he was a guest of honor? Next to the Prince!?
If it wasn't impossible for this to not be actually be happening right now, Nic wouldn't have believed it. He would be sitting NEXT to the Princess at the dinner? He had expected getting some side table with the lesser people or some s**t.
"Ha. No, I've never been in anywhere like this. Nothing like this. It's all so... big" Nic admitted, looking around, until his attention was drawn back to Calliope.
"Yeah I've uh, lived here my whole life, but traveled a bit." he shrugged at the half-answer.
Soon more people arrived, including the King, who Nic definitely recognized right off the bat, when he addressed Nic directly, he hesitated then bowed quickly, but with surprising elegance.
"Ah- Nic," he hesitated again for only a brief moment, thinking Can I lie here?
"Nicolae Badi, sir - you're Highness." He corrected himself as smoothly as possible. He didn't know how to act around a king!
Nic heard something briefly about the Prince being missing, but was way too focused on his encounter with the king to think about it too much right now, except a brief, good, ha! for some reason...
"My family are Romani, but they settled here a few decades ago." he answered truthfully, leaving out the bit of banishment. He grimaced on the inside though. Nic was lucky enough to not have a record if he was checked up on, but a lot of people had a lot of opinions about the Romani, or Gypsies as they were so often called. The traveling people, though not so much anymore. Thieves and cheats and scammers for starters, though many Romani truthfully made an honest living, especially these days.
The only thing that's been on my mind

Normally, girls would get nervous with their father talking to their friends, especially new ones. But she didn't know enough to know that he was grilling Nic. That was just how daddy was with everyone.
"Ah, Badi..." He thought for a moment, then chuckled at Nic's stumbling. He caught a dirty look from his daughter on that one. He then tried to clear his throat to cover the laughter, and followed with a brief introduction. "Anyone who saves my princess can refer to me as Seneca." He paused for a moment. "At least for the remainder of the evening." He looked to Calli for confirmation, she sent him a warm smile. All she wanted was him to recognize the fact that Nic was her hero today and that was that. He was here and dinner and her father hoped that would be the end of him.
Especially after he mentioned they were Romani. A small grimace crossed his face, but he smiled quickly after. "Well, I've heard not many good things about a lot of Romani recently. Never a bad word on anybody named Badi. Clearly, if you're running around rescuing princesses you must be a good kid." Though he was skeptical. He knew how the hard parts of his city worked. Anyone could easily take advantage of his daughter. This literally poor guy could be milking his daughter for all he knew. This could easily be a ploy and he already had people tracking down information on this Nicolae guy without a word being said about it.
Then he excused himself to have a word with Andor's king, who then left officially in search of his son. Seneca returned to the dining room to announce dinner was going to be delayed a few minutes, nothing major. They wouldn't start without the king and prince of course.
"I'm sure Kanae will be here for dinner as well daddy." She mentioned as he returned to the head of the table. "We bought a dress the other day just for it." Calli smiled, then sat up a bit straighter. Her nerves were kicking in. She really wished she had tracked down Kanae to get her opinion on her dress and hair and everything. Even if it wasn't love, this Richard guy had to at least be impressed with her. This was huge. Very important.
"You'll love the food. Henry is cooking his special tonight." She turned to speak to Nic, trying to include him as easily as possible. Calli hated to make someone feel out of place, and by the way he admired her dining room, just the place they ate, she knew enough to know he wasn't in a comfortable place.
"Surely you're very hungry. It was such a long walk daddy. He'll need a driver to take him home." Seneca nodded, absently. He kept glancing around. A lot really did depend on this dinner..

Richard paused at the top of the stairs only briefly, and seeing that Nae was still there, he went the rest of the way to meet her.
He wouldn't have blamed her for running off at the sound of his father's angry voice. All it did was make Richard want to leave when his father yelled at him.
Nae explained that she should go through her back patio, which he supposed made sense. If his own guards didn't see her, despite their discretion, that was probably best.
He nodded, "Okay." he said simply, somewhat distracted by his father's appearance in his room and was about to move back toward his room. He stopped when Nae's sweet, but nervous voice, asked for a goodbye kiss.
Richard grinned, turning back to wrap both of his hands around the back of her neck with his fingers snaking up into her roots and thumbs curving around either side of her jaw, seeming to take her whole head in his hands as he pulled her into a kiss.
His lips and tongue connected with hers as he ensured he was leaving her with a deep kiss she wouldn't forget.
Then he pulled away, and whispered, "You know where I'll be." Before turning fully and heading back up the stairs to get ready for the dinner.
Kanae had said she would be there. And it sounded like the Princess must be back since his father had been waiting for him. That was rare and a big deal. Especially after pulling this kind of stunt so soon, his father was going to be watching him like a hawk. And that meant he couldn't continue to be all flirty with Nae while at the dinner with everyone. He needed to give his attention to the Princess. My future wife he thought grimly.
But hey, she was hot too, right?
It didn't take long for Richard to dress in his suit and barely touch up his hair, getting rid of the almost-sex mess from Nae's hands all up in his curls.
Then he descended the stairs and followed the scurrying of servants and the cacophony coming from the dinner hall.
Richard was borderline drunk after that last bit of wine, which was only to be expected considering they finished off two bottles between the two of them over a few hours.
He wasn't on the point of slurring his words or anything, but he was lightheaded and his good mood had returned somewhat after seeing Nae again... after the encounter with his father.
At least he had a lot of practice playing fairly sober, while fairly drunk, already under his belt.
His father and mother were seated in a place of honor, across from the King of Bania and his daughter and... some guy Richard didn't know anything about. He was dressed up like everyone else, but seemed clearly out of place at the same time.
Then there was an empty space next to his father, and down by order of succession, was his brother who almost looked like a younger more clean cut version of him, and then sister who very clearly took after their mother. From pictures he had seen, she looked just like his mother had at her age.
So, having figured out where he was supposed to sit, Richard strolled as a straight a path as he could to the Banian King and his daughter, ignoring the questioning looks from his mother and siblings.
"I apologize for the delay sir. I am Prince Richard of Andor, at your service." he said, holding his hand out to firmly shake the King's, followed by, "And to you Princess Calliope, my deepest apologies." his eyes looked her over, taking her in quickly, before he reached for her hand pressed his lips to her fingers.
'Cause I took that s**t out.

Nic could tell it was mainly only to please his daughter, but the King himself told Nic to refer to him by his first name. Regardless of the reason, Nic just couldn't help but think how this story became increasingly more unbelievable. Not that he really had anyone to tell anymore... but none of the Badi would have friggin believed any of this s**t!
Unless he had proof. He had to sneak in a selfie of himself in this place. Pics or it didn't happen, right?
"Yes sir. Seneca." he replied formally, but then doing as the King asked at the same time.
The King briefly mentioned his people's reputation much as Nic had been anticipating.
"Mostly rumors and stereotypes sir," he said politely, "People tend to lash out against what they don't really understand." he explained, then hoping that wouldn't be seen as talking back to the King. That didn't count right?
Just conversation... And trying to save himself at least some scrutiny.
Nic saw the other King slip back into the dining room and take his seat next to his wife and the empty chair that must have been for the missing Prince. He whispered something into his wife's ear, who looked relieved, before turning back to talk to the noble woman next to her. It looked like the Andoran party was pretty much on one side of the table, while the Banian on the other. Some younger men around his age or a few years older down the table were snickering to themselves about something animatedly on the Andoran side.
Nic's stomach growled about the same time that Calli mentioned food, causing him to turn toward her, slightly embarrassed.
"Ha, yes. I am quite uh ravished. The walk took a little bit more out of me than expected" he joked lightly with a small chuckle.
He didn't get a chance to say much else though before the murmurs in the room increased and he turned to see who must be the Prince they were waiting for strolling into the room. And headed straight for them.
Yeah. Yeah he totally looked like a d**k. A tall, muscular..... d**k. No, wait- a*****e. That was less complimentary.
Nic heard him address the King and then tried to stay uninterested during the exchange with the princess, but he clutched his chair slightly under the table, seeing the Prince kiss Calli's hand from the corner of his eye.

Hook, line, and sinker.
Richard stepped closer to Nae, taking her tiny head into his huge hands. Her curls tangled into his fingers, and he held her to him. Her breath was stolen, their tongues tangled, and he left her standing there with one sentence.
"You know here I'll be."
She nodded, her fingers brushing against her lips. She could hardly speak. By now she was really feeling the wine, and thankful that she wasn't falling all over herself. Anymore drinking and she surely would be a bumbling idiot by now. But she felt fine. Just very lose lipped and hot. Nae only stumbled a little bit on her way down the stairs. She snuck over to her staircase, which was less extravagant, then slid her backdoor open and rushed inside. She basically ran her fingers through her near-sex hair, enough to somewhat calm her curls, which she sprayed with hairspray afterwards. Then she painted her face with a little bit of makeup to end up with an eye catching finished product.
Then Nae ran into her room, threw open the closet doors, and snatched her full outfit out of its protective bag. A silk material, green dress that rested just a little too short, then a pair of purple peep toe heels with matching purple diamond studs from Calli. She slid a gold ring on her finger from her sea-collection, it was actually one she had created herself one day. She was sort of crafty, and especially now that she was on land, she enjoyed making outfits. Fashion was so much more fun up here!
Nae checked herself in the mirror once more before rushing down to the grand staircase, around the bend, and into the dining room. Everyones eyes turned to her as she stepped into the room, probably because she was the last one to arrive. The only empty seat was next to the shaggy brunette seated beside Calli.
As Kanae was walking towards her seat she watched Richard take Calli's hand into his and kiss the back of it, apologizing for being late. Late because he was hanging out with her... kissing her. Nae felt her heart leap into her throat. She had to not care. She didn't care. She was using him to get in between the crowns, this was business. He probably didn't like her anymore than his other sluts.
"Glad you could join us, Kanae." Seneca smiled at her, as a waiter pulled her chair out and another served her late-salad. Everyone else had just received theirs minutes before she entered. She smiled at the king, then tried not to stare at Richard as he spoke with Calli.
"I'm Kanae, you are?" So, she decided to introduce herself to the only person in the room she couldn't name. She was up to date on the Andor royal family. She knew the Bania royal dinner brigade. But she did not know the guy seated next to the princess, clearly he was important. But why?

Seneca only disappeared for a moment, returning with a concerned look resting on his face. Eventually the king of Andor returned, whispered to his wife, and everyone seemed to calm down a little bit more.
"I know, I'm starving. I seriously feel like I haven't eaten in days." She laughed. Though, Calli had no idea what that really felt like. "I wonder where Nae is." She said absently, with concern. "Daddy, did Nae return? She's not still lost in the city is she?"
Seneca shrugged, turning his attention to the prince entering the room. Calli's eyes followed his gaze to take in the tall, muscular guy walking into the dining room. She looked him up and down as he grew nearer, to shake her fathers hand, she really got a good look at him. His blue eyes darted to her as he apologized and introduced himself. Then he moved to her, took her hand, and deeply apologized. Calli had never been whooed by a guy. A few servants had hit on her before, young towel boys and the like. But that was a joke to her, she knew it was more for her status than anything. She smiled up politely, then took her hand and rested it back in her lap awkwardly. "Oh, no. I apologize for delaying the dinner in the first place." She turned when she heard Kanae's voice behind her, smiled at her, then returned attention to the prince. That was the most important person in the room for her to get to like her, that much was clear. "I got a little turned around out there and lost track of Nae, and actually Nic here saved my life." She turned to nod at Nic behind her, introducing him to Richard.
The waitresses brought in their salads moments before, though no one would touch them until after everyone was comfortably seated.
"It's wonderful to finally meet you, Prince Richard. Truly." Calli smiled up at him.

Richard listened seemingly intently as she also apologized, but he had to force his face to stay neutral when she mentioned the guy next to her. He was her savior apparently. And that meant he was probably just some city guy, if that.... at the Princess' right hand eh?
However, Richard nodded politely toward Nic, turning his icy blue stare on him with more intensity.
"Thank you sir, for returning her safely. I'm everyone is very grateful." he sounded genuine enough, as he reached out to shake Nic's hand as well.
"Of course... your... highness... it was my honor to assure the Princess' safety at all costs" the boy replied formally, but it looked like he found the words strange in his mouth.
Richard turned back to Calli, gaze softening for her instantly, switching back ot the charm.
"And you Princess." eh yeah this was not so hard with all of the wine he had had, "As lovely as they were, you're pictures don't do your beauty justice. I am pleased to finally meet you in person." he bowed slightly toward her, before heading for his seat around the table, now that beginning formalities were over.
He knew there was no way he would have been able to sneak in like he had sometimes tried in the past, not when the dinner was in his honor. So instead, the only "honorable" thing to do was address them directly and apologize, or he would hear more about it from his father later.
Richard brushed passed Nae on his way around the table, but didn't look her way. He had caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye when she walked in, and was trying not to draw his attention to those blood red lips.
His father was watching him. And the Princess had to have his full attention. AND he had to be soberish. That took some concentration as well.
So Richard sat, knowing that was what everyone was waiting for to get the dinner started.
'Cause I took that s**t out.

Nic was trying not to look at the Prince and Princess, while listening intently at the same time. He was fortunate to have a brief interruption from the girl he had barely even noticed sit next to him he had been so distracted with the exchange going on next to him.
Nic turned, hiding his surprise at being addressed as smoothly as possible.
"Kanae? I'm Nic. The Princess has told me a lot about you." he said, remembering that he hadn't been too impressed with some of what he had heard, though the Princess wouldn't understand why.
Or maybe Kanae hadn't either.
Before he could say much more however, his ear pricked, hearing the Princess mention him to the Prince.
He turned their way to meet the Prince's cold glare, or at least that was what it felt like. His words were polite enough, but Nic felt like he was being severely judged or some s**t.
Nic replied as politely and formally as he could at such short notice, really gritting his teeth on the inside at addressing this p***k so highly, but whatever.
So this was the guy Calli was supposed to marry?
Nic was already forgotten as quickly as he had been addressed, while the Prince laid more pickup lines, it seemed to Nic, on the princess.
So he forced himself to look away and back toward Nae, the friend.
"Calli says you two were fast friends." he added, casually phishing for information inside of small talk, and intentionally using the Princess' nickname even though he had previously used it sparingly despite being given permission.
The only thing that's been on my mind

Richard complimented her beauty before returning to his place at the table. They had removed a chunk of it to allow for a more intimate setting but the room still crowded with about thirteen attendees and at least three waitresses in the room. Calli smiled at Richard, then turned towards Nic, but addressed Nae. "Really glad you made it home."
"Are you kidding? I'm glad you made it home! I was so scared when we got separated and I couldn't find you anywhere... I figured maybe you had found your way back here." Her father cleared his throat, announcing the start of dinner.
Their salads were the first course, everyone dug in. By the time they finished, the dinner was being served. Once the waiters had the dinner plates served her father smiled, clanked his glass, and everyone quieted instantly.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome our guests to dinner. Royal family of Andor, welcome. Especially you, Richard. I hope you find your accommodations up to standard for the remainder of your stay." Seneca rose his glass, then all at once everyone drank their $20,000 red wine.
Then everyone dug into their Lobster Dinner, fresh from the sea behind the palace. The dinner chatter began, breaking off into little sections of the table.
"So, Nic Badi." Seneca said his name slowly, then made eye contact with him while Calli leaned back in her chair a bit to talk to Kanae.
"How did you happen to find my daughter anyway?" He held eye contact even has he cracked open a chunk of his lobster with the crackers.
"Have you gotten a chance to talk to the prince?" She whispered to Nae, who looked horrified at her untouched plate. "I'm just curious as to what he's like. I know you weren't back much before me because you were last to dinner. But I thought maybe?" Nae shook her head, then glanced down the table before looking back towards Calli. "No, we didn't talk. He's cute though." She offered before turning her attention back to her plate.
"Daddy, don't grill him. He saved me from these two disgusting thieves." She started, everyone began to quiet down wanting to hear the story.
"They were going to kidnap me for ransom once they found out that I was the princess." She rolled her eyes, set her fork down, and sighed. "But Abu, that's his pet monkey, and Nic came to my rescue. They fought them off, we hid, and then we walked back all the way from the inner city." Her voice was laced in drama. "It was horrible. The streets, the litter. People are not taking care of our city down there. But what was worse was the poor pooch. He came after us, snarling. But Nic used himself as a distraction and saved me yet again." She smiled at Nic, then back at her father. "By that point we were close to the palace and walked the rest of the way." Calli finished, then started picking through her plate again.
"Well, you sound like quite the hero Nic." Seneca looked down the table at the royal family of Andor, noticing that they had been listening to the story as well.
"It was simply dreadful." She looked down the table as well, making eye contact with Richard before looking at the king and queen. "I'm so thankful for him too. It would have been dreadful and tactless of me to not show up to the welcoming of our guests."
Nae cut in next, then Calli agreed. She felt her heart tug as she spoke of her mother without mentioning her name. Seneca looked over at her, so she straightened her posture and smiled cheerfully again.

"Yes, or Nae. Nae works just fine and is usually easier for people." She smiled. "Yes, well. I'm sure she would have told me about you had we both not been running so late." Then Nic turned to meet the prince, since Calli was introducing them. She still wasn't sure who he was because she hadn't been listening to Calli's introduction. She couldn't pay attention to what was going over there, she would get caught staring at those beautiful blue eyes... or that sculpted body. But Nic was plenty attractive too. She could turn her focus to him... once he turned back to her. Which he did.
"We were. We only met a few weeks ago. But we clicked instantly. She's such a wonderful girl, isn't she? And lovely." Nae was obviously laying it on thick. Maybe guilt was biting her?
Then Richard was walking past her, just barely brushing against her leg as he passed by. Her breath hitched, she couldn't help but glance up at him, even if his gaze was set ahead.
Get it together Nae... She inhaled slowly, then continued to speak to Nic. "How did you--" But Calli was cutting her off.

She took her drink, though her head was still swimming. This stuff tasted even better than the stuff out in the garden house. She took another drink. She would probably need it to get through this dinner... Her nerves were shot.
Nae turned to look at the lobster that was set before her. Her throat suddenly felt tight, her stomach churned. Lobster? Like... As in the friends she had under the sea? Oh no. Why hadn't she thought of this being a possibility? Of course seafood would be a main course, they lived by the sea! This was not going to be easy. She had been able to avoid seafood so far, but this was a fancy dinner. She had no choice here unless she wanted to be rude.
Once the dinner chatter began she spent the next few minutes trying to talk herself into cracking into the lobster. But Calli had to interrupt her pep talk by leaning back to gossip.
Nae put on her best smile and leaned back too.
Had she talked to the prince? Boy had she...
But she couldn't admit that to Calli. No, she would stick with this being their first introduction. "No. We didn't talk." She glanced down the table at him, then quickly turned back to Calli. "He's cute though."
Calli nodded, smiled, and jumped on her father for asking Nic too many questions. Thankfully, she took the heat off chatter by telling the story of how they escaped the inner city.
Yes, thank god Nic saved her. She could be trapped up somewhere and that would be horrible... Nae grunted under her breath. It may have saved her some time if the princess had been kidnapped but the inner city thieves were scary folk, no telling if she would have made it out alive or unscathed. Nae didn't want her hurt, just out of the picture.
Why is this so complicated?! Kanae listened intently, noting that Calli talked about Nic as if he really were a super hero. Which, he sort of was. But she was just so thankful for him... Was she interested in Nic? Maybe there was more there. Kanae would have to dig a bit later.
She took another drink, now her words were harder to form. Nae set the wine back down. "So, just perfect timing huh?" Nae smirked. "How lucky is it that Nic just happened to show up and be a savior in the middle of the inner city. Thankfully it wasn't just another creep after who knows what." Nae wanted to know Nic's story, he could be of great help to her if his cards were right. Maybe she would have time to grill him later, unless he was leaving the palace after dinner.
"It really was lucky! Guess someone's watching out for me." A sad smile crossed Calli's face. Her father shot her a look and she perked up again.
I've been so wrapped up in my warm cocoon.,
But somethings happening things are changing soon. I'm pushing the edge..

Nic shrugged, "Nae works, but I'm used to weird names" he grinned slightly. His name, even the full Nicolae, was pretty normal for how it could get, though plenty of modern Romani had "normal" names as well.
So the Princess had only known Nae for a few weeks. It had sounded like they had known each other a lot longer, but then, Calli seemed like a really trusting person, while Nic wasn't.
Nic nodded when Nae complimented the Princess however, "Yes. She really seems like she wants to make a change around here." Nic responded truthfully. He just hoped it stuck, which was more doubtful. The Prince didn't seem like the type to care about the "peasants" at all.
Before much more could be said however, wine and a toast to their "honored" guests and they drank. For a short while Nic was able to get lost in his food, eating such things he never imagined having the chance at, and for free! This was almost a reward enough, though it sounded like more would be coming his way. Nic didn't need much to make him happy really.
Nic had been so distracted with his food and his hefty apatite, that he almost jumped when the King's voice rang from behind him. Woah, heart jumping a bit, he smoothed his features on the outside, knowing he looked totally calm. He had learned enough from the Badi to at least survive the night right?
"Sir?" he responded simply when addressed. "I saw some-" he started, but then the Princess cut in, saving him. There would have eventually been questions about what he was doing in that area of the city, and while he had cover answers beyond 'on my way to the pawn shop to sell what I've pickpocketed,' he was still relieved to have her tell the story.
However, Nic also felt really self conscious as she described him as some brave hero. It felt strangely good that she spoke so highly of him, but he was also aware of everyone looking at him and knew they would now be talking about him as well.
And then Nic's eyes came right in contact with an intense stare from Prince Richard across the table, though it was brief. Nic had held himself until the Prince looked away, but was surprised by that even.
What? Don't like some other guy being praised by the Princess and stealing your glory?
Wow. Nic realized just how strange it was that he even had a reason to compare himself to a Prince in that way. And the Princess... Nic had always hoped to find some kind of way into a more normal life, but he had never seen anything like this happening.
As a way of distracting himself, Nic started drinking his wine which had almost gone untouched when he was so intent on the amazing food. And thinking of the food...
Damn this wine was good. Nic hadn't had much wine, but it had always been the cheap s**t. Who knew how much a bottle of this was worth? Soon his cup was magically full again.
Nic looked up at Nae's comment on the "story" and tried to figure out of it was a genuine compliment, or if she was hinting he might be another creep. He wouldn't be surprised, but it didn't necessarily sound like she was some noble woman either. The only thing that's been on my mind
