That was... quite the answer! Good thing her body wasn't too broken. No need for comical things like steam rushing out of her ears or anything to that effect. There might've been a flicker of red in that clearly affected eye, however. Just a flash of what was really there instead of the image she carefully maintained to protect herself. "Really? Is that... really okay?" Anyone else probably wouldn't have thought much of it. But such kindnesses weren't easily gained by a creature as herself. So more effort was involved, and of course it was more meaningful to her as well. Not too unwarranted of a reaction. That bit of detail stuck out, though. "Wait, what did you mean by..." It probably didn't matter. Did it? It wasn't the important part, anyway. And other than the occasional hug or so she was pretty well-behaved thus far. "I'm holding you to that. Though... I won't abuse it, either." By nature she wasn't great at self discipline, but for him, and only him, she seemed decidedly determined to show how serious she was by making an effort to be careful to not overwhelm him.
She was not without her pride, however. "I could... I could wait! It's not like I'm your pet, or something." Just his violent animal-themed sidekick when he was wearing frilly dresses. Totally different! "I'd gladly help you if you deemed it necessary, however." Especially if it were helping violently. Or even just threateningly. Both very fun when they were on the same side.

Necessary? Maybe not. Did he want to? If it was a battle to the death, then of course. But now that he had the time to cool his head off a little, maybe not so much. Still bent on letting that moron have a piece of his mind, however.
"That's okay. We don't get many visitors. You're welcome anytime."
Besides, he recalled that she had already gotten the roommate's permission to raid the fridge. Where he was snoozing in to escape the heat most of the time. Which probably meant that she could come in any time. Strange, that was an oddly generous move of him. Wait. Not objecting in the morning, spying on him, and letting her in even when that moron had specifically set the house rules to 'no visitors from that side allowed'. Something was definitely up.
Anyway.

She appreciated the assurance. Unholy abominations weren't often welcome anywhere, after all. "You're always welcome here! And at my home, of course." Free coffee and awkwardness provided at both locations!
In a decision that was both responsible and irresponsible, she decided to see him off. "Suppose I should be letting you go, hnn? I have had quite the monopoly on your time as of late." That statement had a tone of pride rather than shame, being that it came from her. It might've come off as arrogant, had she not laughed immediately afterwards. "It really has been wonderful. Not something you'll soon regret, I trust?" There was definitely nothing but mischief present in that question. Her confidence seemed to wane as she came to the irresponsible part of her farewell. "But before you go..." Wouldn't hurt to ask, right? "Can I..." Would asking make it better? "May I..." It was unlikely he'd guess what she was thinking and attempting to communicate, so a simple approach was probably best. She reached out her arms. "Hug." Probably not unlike a request from a child, complete with a pouty expression.

Uh oh. Body contact. Rule of thumb was that he did not touch anyone, ever, and kept himself covered from head to toe and only poked at things if he had gloves on. But a hug?! That was extremely out of left field! She could fall ill from that, immunities or not! He would not know, he did not have her medical record to check, and if anything happened because of body contact then -
"... My apologies, Ama. I can't, it's for safety reasons."
Did he say that? That sounded unlike him, very very unlike him. Whatever happened to the usual 'oh I got a condition that spreads via contact and may or may not turn you into a living zombie and a name on my hit-list' outpouring? Instead he's opting for the nicer, more curt way to put his situation? He still did not feel right about leaving her in the lurch like that, of course. But no, no hugs. Instead he patted her on both shoulders, after checking to make sure his gloves were on and free of any cake crumbs.
"Thanks for letting me visit."

"But! Not human! Remember?" There was some exasperation and loss of sentence structure involved, but she showed her mettle by ending up concerned instead of hurt. "Will I have to prove it to you? It's a serious question, and not an inconvenience. Just setting time aside to collect tissue samples, really." No sudden tissue extraction on cafe tables, nope. "Not the most effectual of tests, as when separated from the body the flesh turns to ash in a matter of days, but possibly sufficient for your purposes. But you can do as many tests as you want. I don't mind. It'll all just grow back, after all!" She probably looked to be too comfortable and cheerful about the idea, but she'd unwillingly gone through much worse in her time. "I'm fine with respecting your boundaries, but my subspecies was designed with human interaction in mind first and foremost. It wouldn't make sense for us to be susceptible to well, anything you'd be worried about. Think about it, okay? And let me know, whenever you like." Definitely a weird offer to give someone, especially with so sunny of an expression. But in her own strange way, she was attempting to be helpful. Not without personal gain involved, but she figured one less thing for him to worry over and be guarded about might be a nice thing to offer at least.
"I can sanitize myself, too, by raising my body temperature. But..." There was some suddenly some doubt in her expression. "I'd show you, but it'd burn all of my clothes off." She shook her head. Seems like she'd done that before. "Not good, not good." There was a pause... she was thinking again. "And well~" Anything could happen! "Wouldn't it have been more intuitive to hold my hands? I mean~" She wouldn't complain about awkward shoulder pats, being an opportunist and all. But, she seemed to be in a helpful mood. "See, no blood or anything! Wearing gloves even~" She showed him her hands with probably too much excitement. "Is that something that's okay? Because I'd like that very much. Holding hands. Yes." Sentence structure was going away again, but her earnest smile and suddenly pink face probably said a lot in its stead.
And now that the rituals of tissue samples and hand holding had been offered, he had a lot to think about on his way and when he got home. "Take care, Eru. We'll see each other again sometime soon, surely~" Still smiling, still oddly but genuinely cheerful.

"I thought a social visit is not supposed to turn into a lab session?"
He meant that as jest to the tissue sampling. Other than worrying that it would take too long to get any results, he had also no idea whether any of the tests would work on non-human tissues. Different genetic makeup and whatnot. Of course, all based on assumption still. And the body temperature was right out, if she raised it he was as sure as hell not going anywhere near her. But he decided to keep his mouth shut on that matter, better to try and end this off with a nice feeling than panicked anxiety.
"Alright then! Take care of yourself too!"
For someone with horrible social skills, he had managed to not make an encounter end with a slap or regret! Success!

He hadn't been creeped out by her admittedly strange offering and he had commented upon it adorably. There might've been a heart-shaped flash in that eye of hers as she laughed a bit behind her raised hand. And as usual her advances had gone unnoticed but as usual she was undeterred by it. "But, please do consider it. Ultimately it's your choice, but..." It was too serious of an issue for her to expect him to simply take her word for it. And that was understandable. The worry that stemmed from it was a curious one, but not entirely unreasonable. It wasn't a problem she could simply fix, nor just make go away. Maybe she had no chance of lessening it at all, but she wanted to try. "Please think about it. Okay?" It was yet another terrifying realization. Probably not possible. Totally absurd! But, she did. She wanted him to feel as safe as he possibly could with her. Even with all of the things she'd proclaimed so boldly it felt more unnerving than the rest. How willing she was to do whatever that took probably wasn't unrelated. With a bit of a wave she scrambled behind the counter in order to look busy for a while, biding her time to make the trip she'd take up to her room later look completely nonchalant and not related to panic at all.
(( Aww, it ended~ emo For now, anyway. whee Feel free to post here for any reason at any time of course. :3 I'm impressed that she let him go, even if it was pretty reluctantly. rofl
And if the subject of genetics did come up it would be so awkward. rofl And incredibly funny of course. emotion_awesome ))

((Gah, only just got back. >_<;; Apologies for the wait!)) ((That means new scenario time? XD)) ((Yeah, plus open up so many awkward situations with lots of other people. rofl And loopholes, because no one keeps an electron microscope in an apartment! OTL And a chance for him to actually act natural around her - even if it's because he gets a more 'professional' perspective. XD))

(( That's all right. :3 And yeah, we can do that! :o I think if we wanted to go down the tissue route it would start with him making the decision and then some sort of mediation. I think they (they'd probably be stuck with Miyabi for a bit XD) might show slides or something and try to explain things to start. Something like that. Probably in the same place as before. Not sure if any other locations would be feasible. XD And lol, that's what I was thinking. Loopholes everywhere!
Or we could do something else entirely. :3 Whatever the scenario, they seem to make everything awkward and funny. rofl ))

((XD That's okay, I'm trying to think of scenarios too. OTL)) ((But yes tissue route!))
With the books scattered all around the foot of the bed in varying states of open and close, he realised that that was where his information fell short - none of the books he salvaged from the church had anything on demon anatomy, only their (assumed) origins and various purification. Strangely for holy texts, these weren't very informative outside of their field. Or maybe that was why, since he was after all, in a situation that most in the same job would have questioned. But! It was a good chance to learn. And to maybe to annotate a bit more information into these notes. So he gets his notebook and goes down to the coffeehouse.
Only when he steps into the door does the question of how he's going to ask her about it strike him. Great, something awkward enough to make his supposed confidence stumble.

Unluckily (or perhaps not!) for Erhard, there was more than one person he'd have to deal with during his latest visit. The demon in question seemed to be quite pleased to be in the company of the strange girl he'd seen once before. Perhaps it would be a cause for alarm if she had been by herself. He hadn't really left her with the best of impressions, after all. But she seemed to be perfectly at ease while talking to the redhead, smiling and wide-eyed all the while. It was a good start, at least.
Though Miyabi's initial reaction probably wasn't encouraging. For a moment her mouth twisted into a frown when she spotted him... only to let up the next moment. She didn't really hate him, whoever he happened to be. What had started out as distaste seemed to have settled into just a wary state of being unsure. Her companion was quick to notice the shift in mood. "Something wrong?" Miyabi said nothing, indicating towards what should be noticed with a tilt of her head. It was strange to see the girl unsettled in such a place so naturally Amarante couldn't help but be curious as she turned around. And of course a questioning look softened upon the sight of the familiar and liked man. There might have been a thought to hesitate in calling him over but it was quickly discarded. It seemed unlikely that he'd ask questions, even if most would find the resemblance between the women's grey eyes and smiles suspect. He'd have to find out eventually. Even if it led to further and more complicated questions. All of that just seemed insignificant when compared to what she wanted. And at the moment, that was simply to be in the company of two people she considered incredibly important. Possibly the most important? It was dizzying to think it over in terms like that. But not untrue. The small wave of her hand (or sleeve, rather) that followed was primarily to get him to notice, but maybe also in an attempt to break up all of the serious thoughts occupying her head. "Eru! Over here, over here~"

Ack, she had a friend with her? Oh no, oh no. The questions he was going to ask would seem a lot more inappropriate now! Because even for knowledge, who would be rude enough to poke around in terms of genetics? A reassuring poke in the mind later, he calmed down a little. Right, Amarante's friend wasn't anything new, to one of them at least, just don't put up a scene in front of either of them. Just. Act. Normal.
What is nor - okay, enough with the mental slapping.
He walked over to the table, fingers wrung behind his back, other entity safely stowed away snoozing. No use looking like he had a multiple-personality-disorder, it surely would not help at all.
"H-Hello Ama, um.... Nice to meet you too, miss."
Regaining his composure, he held out a firm hand to her friend. This was probably not going to help in first impressions, but it was worth a shot anyway. Other than whatever that might have happened previously, of course.

It probably didn't help to have three grey eyes staring at him for one awkward and very quiet moment. For Miyabi it was simply a moment of disbelief, as generally no one was that willing to greet someone as unusual-looking as she was in any sort of normal situation. Amarante might have taken the greeting more seriously than perhaps she should have, but it was a small gesture that left a big impact on her. A small effort was still effort. Maybe they'd both be occupied enough with greeting each other that they wouldn't notice her the clearly affected look upon her face. A greeting that she should probably be helping along. Right! She looked between the two of them with careful consideration. "Miyabi, this is, ah, Erhard. Erhard... Miyabi." The customary repetition wasn't what threw her off. Somehow using his actual name flustered her more than just a little. She'd never said it before, had she? Always odd titles and nicknames. And she'd said it so gently, too! Probably how she found herself all red in the face yet again.
All of which Miyabi found incredibly funny. She did her best to not laugh or smile, however, lest they think she was making fun of them. Carefully maintaining her solemn expression she took his hand with a brisk shake as she'd been taught, retreating immediately afterwards. "Mm. Well-met." Western greetings weren't her forte but hopefully her effort and acknowledgment would be accepted regardless. Miyabi found some relief in the fact that Amarante didn't seem to be enamored with the presence in the man that she found, well, creepy. Just the other one that she'd only actually met all of once. Though from the lack of recognition in his eyes he didn't remember. Normally she'd get more than a bit indignant. She was hardly a face that blended into the crowd. But she'd be on her best behavior due to her knowledge of the situation at hand. "You thought I was some sort of intern. Which I'm not. I'm a scientist. One of the laboratory leads, even. Along with, umm, Amarante." It definitely felt odd calling her by name. But at the moment she didn't feel comfortable using any other sort of term.
The exceedingly careful behavior of the girl was definitely noticed by the woman in question, who had a great amount of amusement and admiration in her eye and smile as their grey eyes met. "Heh~ That's right! Miya keeps track of me and really makes the most of our projects at the lab." She almost looked shy as she continued. "You almost make it... fun!" Mandatory lab time was the worst. But with Miyabi, not so bad. But, back to the matter at hand. "It's all right, isn't it? If he spends time with us..."
"Of course." Praise alone wouldn't have convinced Miyabi to share time with such a treasured person if she hadn't wanted to anyway. But the consideration was also very appreciated, to the point of a shy smile finally making an appearance. "I don't mind at all, really!"
The two seemed to temper each other's insecurities quite well, as the shy smile was met with a gentle one. "I'm glad~" Though her usual amount of zeal was present when she turned to the still-standing man. "So, that's settled. What brings you here today, Eru? And take a seat, take a seat~"

He obliged, quickly sitting down before he looked too out of place. Then again he did feel out of place anyway, so that was not supposed to be a big deal. So then why did that - ah, he felt his face burning.
Still not quite used to getting called by his first name, always by numbers or nicknames or insults, so no matter how many people got around to addressing him by name it always still felt odd. But enough of that, sit down and get down to business, Mophead!
Through the haze of his own thoughts he only just remembered to keep track of Amarante and Miyabi's conversation. Right, um... Did he say that? Ack! His hands twitched at the possibility of having insulted Miyabi before - his memory was hazy, was it an elevator? So this is what taking the backseat felt like - and before he knew it...
"... A-Apologies, Miss Miyabi. For anything um, I might have said beforehand."
But the moment those words left his mouth he knew they would sound insincere. Which would just be digging a deeper hole for himself. Just great, first impressions right out the window.
"But um, back to the topic at hand... um. D-Did I interrupt anything?"
Because if it was supposed to be a friendly lab session then his questioning might just be a burden to their work - hey, what does a coffeehouse mistress do in a lab anyway? Concoct more blends to share with others? - sit down, thought train, before he runs away again!
