Pharos looked thoughtful for a moment at the question of how long she had been a page, wrinkling her nose, before she answered, "its been over a year and a half now. It was a big adjustment for a lot of the zodiac knight, but I can tell you about that later." She gave another grin watching Phact get the mat and moving over to it.
Pharos gave a small amused smirk at the question, "um I don't think so, but we certainly can." She took a step forward and gave a bow, much like she'd seen in pretty much every karate movie she had ever seen.
"How was that," she said standing back up and taking a stance. "You ready?"

Shang gave a grimace at Ida's going down, but did feel a little proud at getting a hit and not having to actually hit her. He made no move to go after her again while she recovered, he did not at all believe in hitting someone while they were down.
Her quick recovery hadn't surprised him, but he was happy she hadn't though to take him down too, like Irene had the time they spared. Caught of guard he would have gone down like a ton of bricks. He'd have to make sure to remember to shuffle away if he got her down again.
He gave a nod and decided to wait to see what she would do, this time.

Shoot, he was going to make her go first again... time to think of something clever. She'd faked before, maybe he'd expect that again?
Rushing forward like before, this time she didn't fake. Instead, she lifted her forearms up in front of her to block and plowed right into him. Hopefully, her shove would knock him off balance, because she was jerking back and lashing out with one of her dainty shoes to tangle up his feet and hopefully send him down to the mat.
Of course, this could all backfire on her and HE could grapple and send HER down...But Ida was banking on the fact that she look rather petite and maybe he'd underestimate her strength.

When she rushed at him, he was fully ready to dogde and with her moment, he didn't think she was going to stop. She when she got closer to him, he made to jump out of her way. He did not however expect the foot that lashed out, catching his feet as he jumped, hands connecting with his torso having been basically tripped.
The result was Shang coming down hands and head first, connecting with the mat and tumbling of to the side dizzied. He groaned not having enjoyed the little tumble and really being to long for such things. He sort of just wanted to lie on the mat for a bit, but he shook it off and stood up.
That was another hit for Ida, he thought, it seemed like it counted anyway. Frowning he ran at Ida, throwing out an arm last minute, looking like he would close line her, but dropping the arm down more waist height. He intended to simply grab her up and drop her on the mat.

Ida hadn't expected him to dodge like that and she stumbled as he went down, dancing a few steps before she got her balance back and turned to see where he had went.
Which meant she was just in time to see the clothesline move and ducked to avoid it... running right into the arm as he dropped it. She let out a surprised squeak when he scooped her up and dumped her onto her back, the next sound from her mouth a whimper. Dang it... she had to be more careful.
Ignoring the pain, she made a last-ditch move and stayed on her back, tucking her knees up and then doing something that looked very much like a flopping fish, but involved getting her legs tangled up in his in an attempt to bring him down with her. Sure, she might have bruised shins, but maybe it would give her enough time to disengage and get back up on her feet. Wrestling with him on the ground was really not something she wanted to attempted, because he definitely had weight and reach over her.

"Zodiac? Like the stuff for astrology?" Phact commented as she moved to take her place on the otherside of the mat. She had never heard of the zodiac being senshi before but why not? She had never heard of the Phact star before that kitten showed up.
Shaking her head with a smile, Phact gave a bow of her own and took a stance that looked like something out of The Karate Kid. "Ready as I can be. " She said and nodded waiting to see what Pharos would do next. She was better at reacting anyway

Chaonis was watching the matches, his attention drifting in and out, when his gaze settled on Athene and Pomona battling. He arched an eyebrow, thinking they both looked like they should be strong and knowledgeable, knowing he had seen them around before. He wondered how the match would go, and ambled his way over leisurely.
By the time he reached them, he watched the female fighter fail spectacularly.
"What the hell was that?" he laughed, shaking his head. "You're not a newbie, what are you doing? Don't make it easy for your opponent by taking yourself out of the fight! Whose side are you on, anyway?"
Maia said for him to help. So. He was helping. Sort of. He didn't offer to help her up or anything, looking at Athene.
"Might as well take the opening, eh?"Luxor nodded his head, moving to help her with the mat. Because that was what he was supposed to do, right? He had no idea. He was literally just thrown into this without really understanding what he'd managed to come upon. That damn senshi, the one in the caution tape, had just dragged him here.
This was the first time he'd ever met other senshi and knights. It was the strangest way to learn anything, but he was just trying to cope.
"I'm not really sure either. I'm just sort of... following directions, I guess." Which he wasn't used to doing, because in life he was his own boss. He watched her get into a fighting stance and followed suit, awkward but he had an ingrained sense of confidence to him. He took a breath and motioned for her to attack him.
She was a lady, she should get the first hit.

"Jupiter," he indulged Irene with a small smile, feeling more content now than he usually did during these gatherings. It was much more informal, much less dangerous than other occasions. "You were close. Basically anything relating to Jove, or Zeus." It just depended on what mythology one was going with. He'd assumed she would be familiar with Roman mythology since she picked up Nordic so easily, but it wasn't anything he would dare hold over her head. After all, it wasn't something he would consider common knowledge. She was young, maybe ten-plus-years his minor, but he could already assess that she was rather intelligent.
The smile on his face widened in response to ********* introduction of herself, and would have laughed again... if he didn't realize that Irene seemed so... serious about this. Sessrumnir hesitated, bemused, and bit his tongue around a comment about how he was just joking and everyone needed to chill out and relax. Was she really upset about how he'd laughed before? If only she knew his life of being called "Sir" was over. He was just a civilian now, or as much of a civilian as a secret knight could be.
"Everyone seems rather stressed..." he observed as Irene turned to get the mat, still staring at her back in confusion before glancing in ********* direction. "I've heard of the magic you cats possess... To be honest, I have no doubt you'd be able to kick my a** if you wanted," he said with a shrug, wondering if it really was him people were responding to with such distaste. Not that he really cared what they thought of him, but it did have him wondering how they were supposed to work together if no one trusted each other.
"Careful," he said, having watched as Irene dragged the mat back for them. At one point he reached out to try and help her, but stopped when he figured she might rather be left alone and want him to let her handle it herself. He did nod towards her feet though, noting how they were digging into the mat. "I don't mind if you take off your shoes," he said, glancing over the fight pose she took.
"At least you have the basics down," he noted, hoping she wouldn't think he was stalling, putting up his arms as she had them, and his feet placed the same. "Did you know how to fight before all this mess?" She didn't look like much of a fighter, but someone had apparently shown her some decent ways of defending herself. It gave him a little more hope that she wouldn't end up dead like so many others. "You've got a good foundation, but you're too tense. Try loosening up your shoulders and knees a little more. It should give you better balance, even with the princess shoes," he said with a grin, nodding to indicate he was ready as soon as she was comfortable.

Palatine sighed over practically being told to “deal with it” by someone who was nearly half her age. She was dealing with it. She just didn’t particularly enjoy the thought of how many kids must be out and about getting themselves into trouble. They should be at home playing video games or watching TV or doing homework.
Or sleeping. Wasn’t it their bed time?
“Alright, kid, whatever you say.”
Might as well indulge him.
For now.
“Get a mat or something,” she said, “unless you want to hit the floor when you fall on your a**. Or I guess I could do it. Come on, over here. There’ll be more room.”
Resigning herself to what promised to be something of an unpleasant experience, Palatine led the way to a bit of free space on one side of the room, grabbing an unused mat and dragging it along with her as she went, glancing over her shoulder every once in a while to see if Lassell was following. Satisfied with their little area of gymnasium, Palatine let the mat flop onto the floor. For a moment she considered removing her boots (it seemed sort of unfair to come at him with a heel on her boot), but then she didn’t see much of a point when she could just as easily give him a black eye with her fist.
“Right,” she said, stepping onto the mat and motioning for Lassell to join her, adding, “Ladies first,” in a sarcastic manner that should have made it obvious that she meant him.

Athene nodding slipping into a ready stance. Okay so it was nowhere as polished as when Mr (call me David) Green did it, but the dark-haired senshi had practiced enough in the self-defence lessons he’d been taking as a civilian that he was certainly a lot better than when he’d first started taking classes back in October – at least he felt that he’d gotten a lot better. Although it seemed to be a little bit for naught as Pomona moved forward… And promptly tripped up. Athene blinked, a startled expression flitting across his face. Did Pomona.. Did Pomona just trip up over her own skirt? The dark-haired senshi had managed to recover enough from his surprise to think about offering the red-haired senshi a hand up, when a voice spoke out from behind them. It was another senshi Athene recognised – Eternal Sailor Chaonis. Thedark-haired senshi remembered the other senshi as being something of a jerk, although Chaonis had helped him out with a youma during their first and only meeting. He offered a hand out to Pomona anyway, his voice its usual quietness as he told Chaonis “It wouldn’t be fair to attack like this.”

Lassell, followed her over to the area and then stepped onto the mat, he still found this very very undiginified to be fighting a lady who was so much older then he was. "okay..." he said. He had to focus before moving to his ready stance. Now he was questioning if he was knight material.
Oh god, he couldn't but he had to he blew out a breath and rushed towards Palatine staying on the balls of his feet and aiming his hit for her left side. He really wished he had taken a self defense course this would have been so much easier. he was starting regret coming to this training session. But he needed to get his fighting style updated and he would need to take on enemies despite their gender.

Pompeii knew exactly what Luxor ment. During the day rarely did she have to follow anyone's directions other than her own but during the night she was out of her depth and she found that she was taking more directions due to lack of understanding just what she was doing. She figured it would only be corrected in time when she finally figured out this whole Knight thing. "So, um. Lets see. If we follow their movements," Pompeii began, meaning Maia and Pandora's match, "I would do some fancy leg sweep but I don't think I could pull it off so lets try this...." The extent of her fighting skills were the boxing on the wii so she lashed out with her left hand, at the last minute opening her fist so it would be a palm strike if it connected. It had nearly no force behind it and Pompeii had forgotten to reposition her feet properly, leaving her precariously balanced. For anyone observing, her attack would remind them a bit too much of a stereotypical movie slap fight where the two would be 'slapping' at the air trying to hit each other.

Confusion gave way to clarity, then quickly to disgust. "Oh, Romans. A bunch of thieves, really." That was a common complaint of her father, and one that Irene shared. If the Roman civilization was as grand as everyone claimed it was, why did they need to steal so much of their culture from the Greeks? Her relationship with her own culture was complicated at best, but that didn't mean she appreciated other people appropriating it. Still, that didn't mean that her opponent was one of those people, just because he was in service to a planet named for a Roman god. He couldn't help his name, so she wouldn't hold it against him.
Aside from her curiosity, she was trying to maintain a certain dignity about herself, though her success at this was debatable. Relaxing was hard, though. She hadn't become a Super Senshi by relaxing. Then again, she'd become a Super Senshi in part by rampaging mindlessly and trying to fight anything that moved, which hadn't really worked out for her. If she relaxed, she might let herself slip into inappropriate behavior again, and considering how much damage she had caused the last time that happened, to herself and to others, she wasn't willing to take that risk. If that meant she looked uptight and harder to approach, so be it.
Her opponent did seem like a nice guy, though. Irene risked a smile as she considered his suggestion of removing her shoes. They were certainly going to make the fight harder, especially since she insisted on using the mat. "I appreciate the offer, but I feel it would be more beneficial to keep them on. I won't always be able to take them off before fighting, and if I don't learn how to fight in unsteady terrain now, I may not have the opportunity to later." She'd already wrenched her ankles more than once because of the heels, and wasn't keen on repeating the experience due to inexperience.
She wasn't really in a fighting mood, but not answering questions asked of her would be rude. "I assume you mean before I was awakened? No, I had never fought before that." Literally never, unless shoving bullies out of the way in elementary school counted. Irene hadn't liked fighting then, and she didn't like it now. Her apprehension was apparently apparent, and she tried to relax her shoulders, with limited success. She was tense, and her body picked up on that. The comment about her shoes kicked the tension up a notch, and rather than reply to it, she opted to open the match with an open-handed thrust to Sessrumnir's abdomen, ready to drop down lower in the event that it was blocked.

"Dude, I have had so many more offensive things done to me since powering up, a friendly spar is just training, no worries," Alfheim laughed and ran his fingers through his hair.
He didn't even bother shifting his relaxed stance to a proper fighting one.
"It's fine, just come at me, man."

Zia was standing near Maia and Chaonis where her senshi had dragged her, tapping her foot and looking bored. She was supposed to help? Ugh.
It was, of course, her natural instinct to pay the most attention to the brother she had dragged here in the first place, but he wasn't doing anything and that wasn't really fair.
Wait, did help mean she got to yell at people? This occurred to her as she watched Maia critique someone. She could actually probably get into this, yo.
Pompeii was her unfortunate target this round. "What was that supposed to be? A slap or a punch, Jesus, hit with a little intent!"
