She sat up slowly, weary.
"Thank you," spoke she, accepting the well-prepared food. In her resting, she had planned their route through the valley pass. It would take them quickly up to her destination, and ere winter came she would be home again.
"What do you dream of, Sokra? When there's no one but you, and everything is within your reach? What is it you want from life?"

"Nothing, really. To enjoy life, I guess. Maybe find out more about my father, and my grandfather. I wouldn't say I have a dream. I just know I have a destiny. I find myself in the right place at the right time, so I guess I have some fate guiding me. And it took away any pointless dreams I might have had." He turned his head to the side. "And you?"

"I want only to find my mother. She was taken from me, and now that I am old enough, I'm going after her." She paused for a moment, looking thoughtful. "It seems like we both have no use for pointlessness. How sad is that, for creatures so young?"

Sokra laughed, harshly but meaning no offense. "Young? Maybe you, but while young in years, I am older than anyone I have come across." He looked at her. "I would say the same about you, but I do not wish to speak for you." He looked at the sky. "This body is young but this soul is older than I can care to count."

Arinoa sighed, looking unseeing at the ground.
"I am as old as I seem, I suppose. Merely a lost child. But my experiences, and that of my father, and my mother, weigh on me like a dreadful anchor. Ah, how melancholy." She shrugged, and finished her meal.

((It's funny looking back on the backstory for my characters I had, compare what I have now, and supress the burning desire to edit all my posts O_O" I dislike being a perfectionist))

{Just pretend it's a different character with the same name. NO EDITING! XD Arinoa mostly fits her story still, though I'm not sure she'll be a shapeshifter in her real story. And by this time, her mother is already dead in the real story.}
