I think you might want to check Raditz's last three post, Bardock.
Give me a quick summary.
Raditz(as much as "playing doctor" annoys the heck out of him) was going to help Keita but noticing the supernova, which would be a threat not only to Bardock but to the entire planet... taking priorities since Keita's nowhere near death, decided to help use his ki to push back the supernova.
He was trying to avoid transforming unless need be so he was only a small notch below super saiyan.
Frieza decided to shoot a death-saucer (similar to the distructo-disc) at him Raditz charged up to super saiyan trying to get rid of the supernova faster, but there wouldn't be enough time to rid the supernova and dodge the death saucer.
Gohan teleported in front of Raditz and canceled out the death-saucer with a Ki attack of his own. Giving another boost of power Raditz was able to get the supernova out of earths atmosphere. Not wanting to give Frieza much reaction time Raditz started madly firing off blasts at the icejin Gohan got a senzu to Keita and was trying to hand one to Raditz (for Fasha) but one Raditz is trying to focus on the fight, and two he has no idea what a senzu bean is.
Also due to issues that hadn't been completely dealt with in the time chamber Raditz can hold out five minutes as a super saiyan, eight minutes at most, anything longer than that he'd be risking destroying himself.
