Isiah waited until he heard Q's breath get regular and slow, assuming he'd fallen asleep. He succumbed to exhaustion soon enough, eyes rolling shut, body slumping down the wall.
He slept four solid hours until he felt the sun creeping up on their comfortable overpass, smelling the baked dirt, hot in his nostrils. He sat up with a groan, rubbing his forehead, opening one eye, then the other with discomfort. He turned toward where he'd left Tsurai sleeping, grabbing him by the shoulder to shake him gently. "Kid," he whispered. "You awake?"

Tsurai had been out cold. He was dead tired, having not eaten much for a very long time. He'd been sneaking the old man food, and the long walk had taken a lot out of him. He didn't even feel like he'd gotten much sleep when Isiah awoke him by shaking him.
"what..what..?" he slapped Isiah's hand away as he opened his weary eyes, blinking a few times to get used to the light.
Once his eyes adjusted, he looked around, realizing where he was. Then he spotted the frenchie sitting up and sleeping not too far away.
"When did he get here...?"

"Sometime last night," he said quietly, so as not to wake him. "It's fine," he reassured, though the reassurance was mostly for himself. He squinted in the light similarly, pulling out the can that Q had brought, turning it over in his hands.
"... Hungry?"

Tsurai pulled his blue eyes from the stranger and looked to Isiah, then to the can of creamed corn in the man's hand. "Yes. What is it?"
After a moment, his head cocked to the side a bit. "Should... we wake him up..?" Tsurai whispered, almost afraid to ask.

Isiah pulled his knife from his belt, setting the can down to thrust it into the lid, carving the can open before handing it to him. "Save half," he warned quietly. Either for himself or for Q should he wake. "I dunno. Maybe. He was up later than you or I by awhile."

"Oh," said Tsurai. He crawled over, closer to Isiah to watch him open the can, eager for some breakfast. "I thought you didn't like him?" But he quickly changed the subject, reiterating his previous question. "So what is it?"

"Creamed corn," he said, thrusting it into Tsurai's hands. "And it doesn't much matter who I like and who I don't, eh? Eat." He folded his arms behind his head, eyes rolling shut for a moment, relaxing in the now comfortably warm sunlight. At least, comfortable in the shade..

"Really?" Tsurai was surprised, his voice's pitch rising a bit at the mention of creamed corn. He eagerly took the can in his hands and looked inside it, verifying that it was indeed creamed corn.
He quickly put the edge of the can to his mouth and poured it in, gulping it down as speedily as he was able. At one point, when he believed to reach the halfpoint, he stopped and almost choked on it, covering his full mouth as he coughed with his lips closed tight to hold in the food.
Eventually he was able to swallow it all down without losing any. He checked the can to make sure he'd eaten his whole half allotment-- he had-- then put it down and walked toward the frenchman with a grunt.
Tsurai put his hand on Q's shoulder, shaking him slightly. "Hey, hey wake up?"
Q almost immediately awoke at the boy's touch. Startled, he released a quick snort and a feral growl, his lip curving upward at the light, shoving his sunglasses over his eyes from their previous place on his forehead, and looking down to the ground, his forearm over his face.
Tsurai jumped back, and was silent at first, but then began to laugh at the display, covering his mouth in a feeble attempt to hush himself. After a few moments, he decided he didn't care he was being rude and grabbed hi knees, laughing at the frechman who acted so awkwardly- like an animal even.
Q reached out with his free arm(the one that was not covering his face) in a lame attempt to slap the boy's legs. "It's not funny!!" he shouted, his right arm making weak contact. At that, Tsurai simply stepped back once more, and tried to stop his laughter.
"Well maybe," he said, between half-coughs and half-laughs, "If you didn't get so freaked out!"
"Augh!" Q groaned, shoving his face in his arm. "Don't you know to let sleeping dogs lie?!"
Tsurai quirked a brow. "To sleep a dog, what?" The boy gave a confused look to Q, then to Isiah. "Well anyway, I only woke you up because there was food and I figured we'd start walking soon, so..."
"No, I'm full," Q said gruffly, his shoulders raising and lowering in an exaggerated breath, as if to keep himself from blowing up on a short temper. "Just go ahead, I'll catch up later."
Tsurai cocked his head to the side. "Why are you covering your face like that?"
Q shook. "You are so insensitive," Q mumbled, readjusting himself so his head was inbetween his raised knees. He would attempt to sleep like that. If he could even get back to sleep.

Isiah took the can where Tsurai left it, gulping down the remainder, licking his lips hungrily before setting it back down. He stood with a grunt, all his joints complaining from a night spent on concrete- he moaned inwardly knowing it wouldn't be the last. "Leave him be. He knows where we're going." Down the highway. ******** some crazy cabin in who knows ********.

[[sorry this is so late but you left me with like NOTHING to reply to.]]
Tsurai watched Isiah down the rest of the creamed corn. Leave Q be? It all seemed a bit weird. He looked over to the frenchmen, who was grumbling softly to himself, probably trying to sleep.
"Let him go?" it was a rhetorical question; Tsurai didn't expect it to be answered. With a frown, the boy looked to Q again before beginning to walk off in the direction he assumed they were headed.
He looked back, waiting for Isiah to lead the way, with an almost-pleading look. Tsurai didn't know where he was going, or what he was really supposed to be doing.
Once Isiah got up and later passed him, he began to hang his head and just follow along. He looked back once after they'd moved far away to see Q become a dot.
"Why are we leaving him again? I mean, I know he's an a**, but it seems kind of weird if he spent all night catching up to us...?"

"Because he wants to lead the both of us to who knows the ******** where," Isiah mumbled, hefting the duffel over his shoulder. In reality he didn't trust him and he didn't want to be near him, didn't want to share his supplies with him, and the whole.. model story really only painted him like a pansy sissy who wasn't going to be able to make it without Isiah dragging him. His heart bled for him but... he seemed to have a plan, seemed to know what he was doing.

"He wanted to lead us somewhere?" Tsurai frowned, a bit confused. "Well... Where are you leading us?"
Tsurai didn't want to question Isiah. To a degree, Isiah intimidated him, but in the same vein, Tsurai had no idea where any of them were going, and he was pretty sure Isiah didn't either. So if this stranger had some sort of a plan, well. Any plan was better than wandering off randomly, right?

"North. Next big city was up that way. Ought to have more in terms of food and water than our little podunk town did." He looked over his shoulder at him. "Unless you have a better idea, kid."

Tsurai's head and heart sank. "No," he whined in reply. "I have no idea where we are," he said softly.
Well, at least Isiah seemed to have everything worked out.

Isiah was fairly used to survival schemes. It was something his Alpha was more or less obsessed with. Kaegan hadn't exactly theorized that there would be world scale nuclear war, but he was paranoid enough to believe that their endgame would be alone and out in the nothingness. Isiah had a basic idea of what to do.
"If we can pick up our feet we might be able to get there in a few days. Sleeping at night, of course." He winced at the sun. "If we don't burn up, anyway."
