((Again, if you guys don't like what I come up with for this NPC, I can change it. I'm not sure of his pattern, or what is intended for him, so I'm pretty much just making it up.))

"I've heard...around," she said, not wanting to give away her abilities, "that he's one of those celestials you were talking about. He's a shadowmancer. That's why he can kill so easily, no one ever sees him. Everything may be dark, but he can see. He can thrive." She had already previously investigated the murderer's mind. He was a tall sonna, agile and fit, too. He wouldn't be easy to catch. "If you even want to get near him, you'll need the right equipment. Night goggles. Heat seekers." Before he could say that it wasn't her job, she said, "I know it's not my job, I'm just suggesting. It's his great strength, and he's a great coward. He's found this power and he uses it."

She let this sink in. While he thought, she extended her mind, trying to find that murderer again. Maybe she could push this man in the right direction.

Jay couldn't help but sort of gawk at his ability to move the metal in such a way. Of course she had heard of people being to manipulate such items and she could move things herself, it just had been awhile since meetin another celestial outside of Isis. She nodded and replied, "I don't mind following your lead." it was a childish thing but she really didn't like the dark. It unnerved her for even when she could reach out with her mind it still felt uncertain, like something could still be lurking. As they walked she would let herself get too close to one side of the dark hallway just to reassure that there were two walls still there. Finally she spoke to end the maddening silence, even his thoughts were silent and that made her a bit uncomfortable as well, "You keep yourself well hidden, even Isis couldn't tell me where exactly it was you spent your nights." Jay figured it wouldn't hurt anything to speak of Isis for he had probably already guessed at where she was from.

A voice came from the shadow behind him. He had, of course, closed the door, so no light was shedding itself in. "That was my intention." He left it at that for a moment, and as they reached the end of the tunnel he added, "Wait here a moment and I'll get the light." He moved into his move and pulled the string over the table, dimly illuminating the hovel. "So it's Isis you're from, then?" He frowned and sat himself on the table with a loud clank, looking through the yellow light with his dark eyes greatly narrowed in either suspicion or distaste.

"Alright. That gives me some ideas, thanks," he said. "Now, you want me to find information for you, right? I'll have to do some looking myself. How about we decide a place to meet later?" he suggested.

He was also going to suggest to his bosses that heat-sensors and night vision be placed around the city. Not that they didn't have any, but most of them were outside on the streets and not inside the homes and stores where trouble was taking place.

There was another reason he wanted to meet later. He didn't believe that she wasn't a Celestial.

"Um...sure." She wondered about an ulterior motive, but was distracted by a man just begging to be plucked. She watched him pass as she muttered, "Where? It doesn't matter to me." As the man passed her, she concentrated on his mind, so she'd be able to find him again later.

"Is there a park or some place that you visit often?" he asked simply, "That way it won't look strange that you're there."

Sam noticed her distracted tone. He wondered if she might be under more stress than he thought, like not enough sleep, or if she was ADD. Or maybe she just didn't like him and was trying to get rid of him.

She was brought back to attention by his words. She rased an eyebrow and looked down at her raggedy, dirty, mismatched clothes. "Mister, I look strange anyway. But there is a nice park in this nearby deca-mall. Got really comfy benches, if you know what I'm saying." She gestured in the direction of the mall, and decided to pay attention to him after hearing his thoughts. She didn't want to get rid of him really. He could get her the information she'd been looking for for years. Maybe her mom wasn't really dead, she didn't know for sure that she was.

Maybe there was still hope...

Sam's thoughts raced along the lines of worry and doubt. He wasn't sure if he believed her, but more importantly, her information could prove to be of no help even if she was telling the truth. He was frustrated and thinking about who he might track down and talk to next, but nothing came to mind.

All that showed on his face was a slight frown. He thought he needed a break, maybe more sleep at night. "I know the place," he said, "now just choose a time, or give me a way to contact you."

With a cop or some sort of security officer in nearly every corner of the city, the massacre seemed to have stopped. There were a total of 12 victims, but amazingly one of them had survived the attack. The news media was all over it, trying to get an interview from the only survivor and true witness to the attack. Well, she was only able to see her attacker for a few seconds, but atleast she had lived to see it. She was being kept in an unknown hospital in order to protect her in case the murderer wanted to finish the job.

The mayor, Dr. Melissa Hinrich, had a little press conference about the event. Though, it was nothing new and very superficial. The speech was the usual "we'll do our best to help our people." The Freedom Movement were having a feeding frenzy off of this since none of the victims were nobles. The masses, which mostly were the poor to middle class were starting to question their government even more.

Approval rating of the mayor was at its lowest, 32%.

Isis sent a message to every one of its members. "Beware, the murderer is definatley targetting female celestials."

AGSA and Chrest probably knew it too... but they weren't telling the media or even most of its officers.

((I coulda swore I posted this. Damn bucket of a computer eats meh posts!!! gonk

Pick the time, huh? That would give Mock at least a day to investigate this murderer to give this Sam guy some real information.

She started thinking about what she'd have to do to find this killer. Suddenly a burst of thoughts came from all 'round the city. They were never loud like this unless they were all about the same thing, and important.

"Female celestials?" "Females!" "Gotta hide." "After us, after girls." "Why girls? Why celestials?" Thoughts like these began singing through Mock's head. She reflexively winced and touched her temple, then remembered who she was standing next to and dropped her hand. A message must have been sent out to lots of people, and they all must have read it at about the same time. It was probably urgent.

...

The murderer was targeting female celestials? Well, this was a step in the right direction. Now she had some people pinpointed who were in the loop.

"Wednesday at two sound alright?"

"Yeah. That sounds fine. Hey, are you alright?" he asked. She had looked for a moment like she had a migrane, and people with migranes tend to throw up or act very cranky.

((School's really easy for me. I'm "smart girl" because the idiots there couldn't come up with a better name mocking my far superior intellect. stare ))

She waved him off...politely. "Yeah, I-I'm fine." She forced a smile on her face. "Wednesday, then," she said, and walked off towards the nearest corner she could go around, so he couldn't see her. Passing the corner and walkinga bit further down the wall, she slumped against it and rubbed her temples, trying to quiet her mind.

She had to focus if she wanted to sort the bogus info from the nuggets of important stuff. She'd better find a quieter, safer place first.

Leaving, Mock pressed into her mind not to forget Wednesday at two, although she at the same time thought it would be a sign of the apocolypse if she forgot something THIS important.
