Hellis nodded and the woman handed him a small bottle. EEEEE! He dragged Crow to one of the little stalls built into the wall, puppy-meeting-places, so to speak, and plopped down onto the bench.

Sitting down beside Hellis, Crow calculated how long it would take for Julian to quit being angry with her for bringing yet another animal home. Given the current number, probably quite some time.
"Well, he can just move in with Rabid," Crow said aloud to the puppy. It yipped and blinked up at her in utter innocence. "S'not his apartment, anyway, izzit? Nooo, no it's not, it's miiine."
The puppy gave another yip, which Crow chose to interpret as an agreement.

Hellis promptly stole the puppy and bapped Crow upside the head.
"No," he said matter-of-factly as he held the bottle down to the puppy, who attached himself to it immediately.

"Hai!" Crow yelped, making grabbing hands at the puppy. "Hellis, c'mon, I want 'im don't be mean."
Her former puppy, the traitorous little b*****d, already seemed more comfortable on Hellis' lap. Crow sighed.
"Dammit."

Crow gave another sigh.
"This is true," she said, scratching at her nose absently. "Haven't seen him for ages...haven't been around in ages. Still sorry I missed out on the whole killer clockwork robots thing. I bet y'all had a hell of a time having to deal with that."
Frowning slightly, her attention immediately snapped back to the puppy as it pawed at her arm.
"SEE? He likes me! Give 'im back, Hellis, c'mooon..."

"MINE!" Hellis yelped and turned his back to Crow, holding the puppy in the palm of one hand as he fed it with the other.

"Ishta! Hellis, you're mean and I am SO gonna tattle on you," Crow said, actually pouting a little. "I was gonna name him Bartleby..."
With a sigh, she finally relented and went to look at the other puppies and animals. They all had a disappointing lack of deadly claws and poisonous fangs, but they were all mindbendingly adorable. She supposed it evened out.

"Fine. We can thare," Hellis nodded and removed the n****e of the bottle, replacing it with his pinky, "He lives with me. I thaw him firtht."

"You cut a hard bargain, but reasonable," Crow said, crouching down beside the bench and scratching behind the puppy's ear. "Besides....the snake would probably eat him. Or the dragon. Or Coatl, for that matter..."
Crow frowned.
"Gods, my pets are evil."

Allowing the puppy to bite and nibble at her finger, she glanced around for Björn.
"D'you think he'll let you?"

"Could we have money, please?" she said, smiling slightly.
