Zahara had never been snuck up on in her life. With her fantastic hearing as well as impeccable senses, she always knew when someone was in the same vicinity. But she jerked in surprise to hear a voice beside her and violet eyes snapped up to look at him. Her dagger was already out, she was on her feet and ready to deliver a killing blow, every sense alert, the sharp point resting at his neck. "Who are you and what business do you have here, stranger?" she fairly snarled.

Max smiled, even as she had moved her dagger towards his vital organs he had turned to face her, but his posture still remained relaxed and normal, his one good eye smiled, and he showed no fear. Nor did he show intention of harming the other. "Eye and eye simply a wandering ol' man, deena mean to startle you dear, my apologies" he said with a slight bow. "Curiousty often gets de best of eye." he smiled at her once more. Tuning his face to lookat the fight he merely shook his head, "Tis a shame to see too brave sprits fighthing, me thinks." he commented with a heavy sigh. Max bowed once more, and spoke. "Eye be Maximillian Brood, but most just call me Max."

She raised an eyebrow dubiously, "Brave? You think Jarlaxle is brave/ Jaraxle is stupid and the only reason he's even winning is because the other idiot refuses to fight!" Zahara was fuming indeed and she pulled the dagger away and slashed her frustration out on the air. "Well, Max...why are you here? Do you have connections with someone here or are you just attetmpting to get yourself killed?"

Max once more shifted his weight, his bare feet once more kicking up a tiny cloud of dust around them. "Neh, afraid not dear, eye and eye must be honest, tis the first of ye kind this old eye has set on for quite sometime, and me thinks ye friend far wiser for not fighting." he says. "Like eye said, eye and eye a mere wanderer, go where this old feet wish to carry me, always been attracted to the company of a beauty such as ye self, truth be told."
Removing a small canteen from his pocket, Max took a small sip of the contents inside. "No looking to be killed methinks, merely curious is all." he added, as he moved the canteen towards her, "Care for e sip?"

She eyed his hand as though it was a disgusting bug that she'd just love to crush under her boot. "No." Did he think she was stupid? It was a simple matter to slip poison or the like into a drink, especially when you couldn't see the color of the substance. "And it is not wise to let someone cut you down until you die!" But then she glanced back at the two figures supsended just across the ground and sighed. "But then he doesnt' really want to live anyway. I don't think he'd care if he died right now..." She shook her head and brushed off the compliment, she'd gotten plenty of htem in her lifetime, they meant nothing. "Would you mind not kicking up dust. I really don't want to get my clothes dirty."

Max merely laughed at her inhabitations about sipping at the cateen, and shifted his wieght once more, this time not a single speck of dirt move. "Sorry dear, but eye and eye prefer to walk without the aid of shoes, love de fell of the good ol earth' ya know?" he laughed, and took another sip from hs canteen. "Tis only a simpla cateen, and tis only rum." he laughed once more. Max let out a powerful sigh, "Tis a true shame when a man looses his will to live, tis truly a heart break." Max said, for a slight moment growing slient. "I take it, he be yer boy then?, de one who wishes not te fight?"

"You're not from around here are you? If you were you would know the folly of walking around barefoot. Too many sharp rocks and little things trying to bite your toes off. Not a good plan, I suggest you get something on your feet." Her head shook and she laughed bitterly, "Mine? No, not in this lifetime anyway. He is his own and no one else will ever be able to claim him." She sighed and settled back down on her cloak, deeming the man harmless at least for now. "One can never be too careful.." she said idly, her dagger still in her hand.

Max let out a little smile at her comment about him walking barefoot, "Eye and eye has felt no sharp rocks since arriving to these lands, nor any animal." he laughed once more. "Me ol feet, are much to thick of skin for that anywho." he laughed. "Eh, so not you boy? shame methinks, to waste such beauty and be alone." he said. "And aye, careful is ever wise, but eye and eye is much to old to carry weaponds, this ol cane is good enough." he said as he tapped the large walking stick in his hand.

Astonishment was very clearly seen on his face. "You're one of the lucky ones then but I suggest you get shoes and a weapon unless you came here hoping to die. You seem the type that a simple sphynx would eat for a midnight snack." Who the hell was htis Max? And what a strange name he had too...spoke funny, butchered Common really. "Btu who says I'm alone? You assume stranger and assuming will get you killed. I have my pick of men at anytime I choose. I merely don't have him," a nod in his direction. "On my list to choose from."

"Eye and eye ne-er said ye wasn't capable of having ye pick of de litter, in me younget days, would have courted ye meself." he commented with shrug of his shoulder, pushing his long white dreadlocks to the side with his hand to better reveal the patch that he wore upon his eye and the strange crest upon the patch he made yet another comment. "I thank for ye kind offer m'lady but as eye and eye have said, have served me well tis stick and these feet, would be unwise to distrust them now.' he said, "Or perharps tis ol one, has finally lost it, aye?" he laughed.

She had to chuckle at that. "I bet I'm a good deal older than you and you don't even realize it." She ran her fingers through her hair and shook her head, "But I choose my bed partners, they don't choose me. I'd have to have you and you're not elvish so you probably wouldn't be high on my list. Though sometimes it's nice to have a change. Auditioning for the spot?" she asked still laughing. She wasn't going to push the shoe and sword thing any further. If he wanted to get eaten, that was his business. "Just passing through or are you attempting to find a more permanant home?"

Up-tight little......Max thought to himself. For all his age, he was well aware that she was decades older then he. She was Drow afterall, and he only human. He didn't really understand why he had chased havings his gonads boiled and served on a bed of steam rice to aproach so suddenly, and a Drow of all creatures, but his actions could not be taken back at this point. He merely needed to make sure that push come to shove, he vanished fast. "No, no, misa never one to stay too long in one place, prefer the earth moving under me feet....." he said with a sly smile.
A smile spread across Max's lips as he shifted his weight once more, while his feet never left the ground another cloud of dust began to rise from the ground. "Sorry about that." Perhaps not his smartest move, but he had never been smart, he though as he rolled on the balls of his feet gently.

She watched him warily for a moment too upset by what was happening to Sevilin. Why wasn't he fighting back? At this rate he was going to be dead sooner htan later and as much as she hated the b*****d, she didn't want him to die. But her attention was turned back to the man who's suddenly presented himself. "Well, I used to be like that. Always roaming abotu looking for nothing, at least that's what I believed. Found something though, even as I wasn't avidly looking. Funny how taht happens sometimes." She brushed a bit of dirt off her skirt. "I just like to be clean...I'm an elf it's an inbred desire. You'd worry about dirt too if you're hair was bone white."

Malik was drafting his letter in tier-dal, in a smooth, elegant, flowing script. Besides, he was sure Fianna had a translator, or had a book from Kieran on translation.
'Dear Fianna.
I find it to be my duty, as yiour husband is here...to inform you of certin dangerous actions he has partaken agasint our will. his first deception was to Piper, after being greiviously injured by Sevilin..that he was fine, when if fact he was poisoned.
His second deception, was to me, as I knew of the poison he informed us that he was going back to andal for a few days. I under the impression thathe was returning to heal himself of poison, did not question or stop him.
He has in fact, to uphold an end to a deal we knew nothing of, gone into the lions den, the dragon's maw. the residence of a demigod named Dimitri who wishes nothing but the destruction of living peoples.
His whereabouts at present are unknown. But Onyx and Catawa are with him, and while I beleive he is in capable hands, I thought you should know.

She was watching him, after all, didn't want him writing anything that was going to give the poor woman a heart attack at all. Though what she could read was disjointed a little, following along pretty well except for the words every now and then that she didn't understand or couldn't recall at the moment. "At least you're eloquent in your tattling." Though she did think breifly for a moment on if Fianna could read it...but thought it no problem. They had translators so no problem, after all when the drow wrote up from the Depths to...'negotiate'...they wrote in their own language.
