Aww, that sucks. Luckily Valentines day isn't such a big thing in my country. It's more of friends day than lovers day. Though as with all things, the trend is turning more into the american way, meaning there's lots of heart junk in the stores and so on.
I like the idea of valentines day, when you remember the closest friends of yours but I don't like the commercial part of it. In here on Valentines day we usually buy or make small gifts or cards for our friends. The love side is a plus, but it's not so strongly emphasised as I think it is in the US.

the pink hearts are from my lovebird plushie. I don't have any female friends to hang with, only guys and they have their own special someone to spend time with. I can always go out with my mom and aunts..its not the same but its better than nothing.

valentines day was never anything super special for me. I mean... it seems like it is a day marketed to make money by pushing merchandise for love. Blech. I don't mind gifts! I just.... you know, there are enough days to focus on the ones I love... like.. heck, any day! I don't need a heart shaped box of candy to show or be shown that I am thought about.
