Sevilin gave an exasperated sigh. "Beat me...or die. Does my death come with my beating or do you merely wish to beat me into submission?" This was just irriatating for him...completely unecessary and a waste of energies. Did he have to lose to end this? Sure it would hurt his pride...but some needed thier complex fix didn't they? Like Jarlaxle.

Back to swords. And he gave a show of his own speed, back strifing, either natural, magical, or runic enhanced who knew. After all, Sevilin did have one hell of a teacher when he was learning to be a silent ruthless killed. And Khaiver had been less than lineant. Before he drew his dagger, using it to disrup the motion of one blade slightly, leaving him leeway to dodge the other...though the slice in his clothing told how close the blades had gotten.

"Failure is only a perceptio, who says that I see you failing? I don't. Mishaps in the path to successes." Piper gave him one of those gentle smiles...well this was a first. She couldn't recall a time when he felt the need to hold face in front of her. "And you are all those things to me...I knwo you don't see it that way, but I do. Isn't that enough?" A little laugh, the kind someone gave in spite of things. "If anyone has been foolish lately, it's me. I haven't been myself for a long while it seems now. But you, there is nothing foolish. You believe me, don't you?" Though another one of those smiles at him, it wasn't often that he apologized...at least not wihtout bite in it. "You're frogiven...just...be a little more careful. If something happened to you from your amibions...I'd have to go on a hurting spree now wouldn't I?"

Rune Eater feed of the expanded energies, while Rune Breaker parryed with a dagger. The drow general could tell Sevilin was not in the fight, which didnt bother the general. He'd proably die if he was too cockey. Not ceasing a movement to merely graze some clothing, Rune Eater cut downwards and back to take advantage of the opening. Jarlaxle's feet moved to anticipate several counteracts. Rune Breaker continued to play with the dagger, pressign attacks from every angle that was physically possible from a single arm, literally hacking away at the weapon.

This time the edge of the blade caught on it's upward stroke, but did little in the way of damage, most thankfully for the chainmail he obessively wore, which of course was runed. Was ruining his clothing of course which was horribly irritating. Though he did not the refusal to answer his question. Could mean a few things.

His actions had quickly gone from lax to barely defensive. Perhaps if the sport wasn't in the game then it would be of no more interest. Or he could always let Jarlaxle 'beat him'. Though he was holding his own best as he could, blocking with both dagger and bracer on his arm, letting Jarlaxle push him back in his steps.

Rune Breaker cut through the dagger on the following attack, and the began to severly assult the bracer.

Chainmail softens the blow, take too many hits and your bones break. There was a reason why most species used pltemail. But, knowing this creature was drow, it was proably mythril or better quality mail. Not being interestied in games, the offensive sword switched to aviod the armour mode, and only attacked exposed flesh and hair. The two swords were acting as seven, Jarlaxle's right hand making four attacks for every three that his left hand made. Rune Breaker began to target the equipment, aiming for weak spots in the construction, while Rune Eater tried to eat flesh. Jarlaxle yawned. Maybe he should ahve had the swords enchanted to fight on their own, then he could probably go drink some tea or eat crumpets while this elf was tested. Thoughts wandering, hand and feet not so much. Jarlaxle traie for combat for nine thousabnd years. His body did its own thinking.

Sevilin let him cut as he may, defense being lax and lack luster, taking hits that could probably be easily blocked. And not giving a single indication that he was upset by it in the least. This one was different from the last, as blood flow was easy going from caught skin, no runes to hold it all in, as Sevilin more or less let himself get knocked around by the elder drow.

He wasn't stupid...he knew Jarlaxle wanted him to show his runing prowress, that's what this fight was about...and Sevilin wasn't going to give him what he wanted. That was probably just as bad in his mind as giving into and being put under the boot of some woman. Definately coming off as the weaker of the pair at the moment.

Though he didn't need runes to win or at the very least hold his own...he was a fairly high level mage in magics, also a well seasoned physical fighter, so then why was he not emploring those skills he knew either?

"I'll be careful. and it helps to hear that you think I am not foolish. and after all, can't have my wonderful surface elf become a completely brutal killing spree drow now can I."

Yes, poking a bit on teh point that she was still teh surface elf he loved, even if the underfoot had affected her judgements and morality perhaps a tad.

"So. are we already planning the huge lecture, beating, berating, yelling at your father event when he gets back? or are you going to tattle on him to mom and let her do it?"

A flick of gold from her eyes as she smiled at him, shaking her head lightly. "I suppose not. Besides, if I really want to be drow I have to change my skin color don't I? And I know for a fact, that's one of the things that fascinates you in itself." Little things to perhaps try and help herself remember what she was and what she wasn't. Then again look and mind could be totally different things altogether. But enough thinking like that for a moment. She frowned lightly at the mention of Kieran. "You know...I think both should suffice...granted he won't like being lecured like a child, and he'll use the 'I did it to protect you' line, but still. He lied to me after all. I get in trouble when I lie, he should too...the road to hell is paved with good intentions as a human once said." And a now distant friend.

Her eyes were riveted to the battle scene playing out before her eyes. She wasn't positive if they even knew she was there, watching, calculating. Her hands clenched on her arms and she suddenly felt shivers run down her spine. Why? Why was Jarlaxle so intent on killing Sevilin? Why couldn't he just leave well enough alone? And why wasn't Sevilin decimating the elf where he stood? She'd seen what Sevilin was capable of and in the book that he'd snatched from her she'd seen some other things as well. Runes that could bring down the fabric of the universe as they all knew it. Sevilin could easily destroy Jarlaxle, especially without Tarathiel there to cut him down from another side. She was left to wonder if he was just playing some kind of game that she didn't understand or comprehend. Her fingers drifted lightly over her book and she wished she could rune so she could something to help. Even though Sevilin would be pissed..she didn't want to piss him off so it looked like she was resigned to watching the fight with bated breath.

Getting in seemed to be pariculairly easy. In fact, there were not near so many dead and soulless as the last time this place was infiltrated. Once ina while, they heard noises that spoke pf many feet scampering across the lfoor, but they never saw the creature to idientify what it was. This agitated Catawa visibly.

"Damnn it. He's playing again. I know it. b*****d." She growled adn bared her teeth.
PostPosted: Fri May 26, 2006 2:36 pm

Well, Catawa had her fur up, and Kieran couldn't blame her. After all, he'd been here before, knew what could lurk out of the path of vision...especially things that could look like themselves. Genetics...now that made him think, where did he happen to get hold of thier genetics anyway? "Hopefully he likes to play by himself and not with us. How far are we do you think?"

"She harrumffed. "About halfway to the cages. And nothing. No attacks, hardley any soulless." She kept walking, her paws making luittle dust clouds float up from the floor. She sniffed. "It smells old in here."
PostPosted: Fri May 26, 2006 2:55 pm

"I suppose that shouldn't be counted as a blessing...there's always a quiet period before a storm hits, and I don't call this an exception either." He shook his head lightly, giving his own sniff at the air. His nose wasn't nearly as sensitive as the felines' in his company, but it could still pick up what Catawa was talking about. "Air is stale...and there's a lot of dust. Which I don't remember." But then when undead 'died' they tended to turn into dust or ash...so that shouldn't be surprising.

They continued without meetign opposition. "It smells old." She said again. "No one's distrubed the dust here in a least a few days. No undead shuffling about, no soulles plodding through. We've only seen one or two from the ones that were burried outside." She wasn't in a good mood.

"When I first met Eca and Ton, do you know how many stations the Lich worked at persoinally? Five. And over twenty that were opperated by his followers. Dimitri likes to stick to habit."
PostPosted: Fri May 26, 2006 3:19 pm

"Well...Malik said he left some kind of eradication deal...maybe it worked." That was Kieran trying to be positive. Because someone had to be and he had the cheery dispoition, so it was him by default. "Perhaps...there's some force that's altered the place...making it less hospitable for them." Or worse, something. But he kept on in thier trek.

"In other words, he's too quiet for any good to come of it, yes?"
