Oh... I love that topic! Religion!
Such a pointless argument, since it will never come to a close. Mmm...
I'd also like to say that I'm an Atheist, and proud. =D

little mintchan because i lost faith in god.....my whole family is a christian, but only me and my dad do not believe or have lost faith in god... If you do not believe in God and the Word then please do not call yourself a Christian. It is not a fashion statement, although many Americans take it that way. I'm not angry, and I don't have the right to be anyway because my God tells me to forgive all people no matter what. [A note on the homosexuality to those saying Christians hate it: We don't hate homos, but God has certainly told us NOT to practice any form of sexual immorality and homosexuality.] If you have lost faith in God, it shouldn't be because tough things roll your way or because you do not get things that you want. God tests us frequently, and it is not to be cruel. It is to test our faith in him and to teach us. If you have lost faith, then you should consider these things. I'm not going to start spewing bible verses at you guys unless you ask for them, and I certainly am not as far as others on their walk with God. Hey, I haven't even read the whole bible. But I do offer advice and comfort when I have a feeling that I should.

I do not consider them God's word in the slightest. On that note, my first class for this year starts tonight: Early Church History! How exciting! (strongly dislike the lecturer though)

Actually, many of the rules stated early on in the bible have been nullified.

The laws of Leviticus were often challenged by Jesus, especially ones concerning Ritual and Uncleanliness however the 10 Commandments weren't challenged as far as I know, those could be considered directly God's Word. There is also a good argument (which I do not have) tht says that Roman Centurion whom Jesus said had great faith (was it the greatest in the kingdom? I don't remember) was in fact Homosexual or engaging in homosexual acts.
Also just because you're a Christian doesn't mean you can't be angry, the Bible never said you cannot feel anger. or that you don't have a right to anger, but as you say it does tress forgiveness.

Hmmm well in my opinion religon is just a way to control the masses. Can anyone here find a beter way to controle people than tell every one "Hey if you do things my way you will live happily forever after you die, if you don't you burn in hell for ever."
It just seems to me like a big made up lie that was accepted by the mass of people.
I do however belive in a God but I don't belive in a religous being that lives in the sky and has the power to make a virgin have a baby with the wave of his hand.

The difference is between feeling anger and acting upon it. Was I angry at first? Probably. But by the time I clicked "reply" I had let it go and forgiven it. There is a huge change in rules from "punish sinners" before Jesus's death, and then "Forgive all sins" afterward. At least, that was the predominant theme.

Ah okay see I thought you were following the idea that Christians have to be constantly smiling, and happy and without anger. You know like a 50's Housewife n God steroids. When I hear about people who are like that, it always worries me as a Pastoral Carer.

Of course, some religions are. My belief in that respect is that God gives us a certain path to follow, with a certain set of rules. In this world people find it difficult to believe in "happily ever after", because of temptations of the flesh and because of our nature of sin. But that's why we have our second eternal life to look forward to. And if you break those rules, our religion is one of the only ones that offers forgiveness no matter the circumstances.

Thats what I don't belive in Deil. People since the begining of time have thought that thing were out their that could be all powerfull and would make up hundreds and hundreds of stories of diffrents gods that did diffrent things. Then some one said "Well my god can do all that and some" Who is to say the Mayan gods wernt real, or Greeks Gods, or any of the other Gods who were made up along the path of time.
And the Idea that God is all knowing and all powerful and has a plan for everything then why did he kill every Dinosaur [Sp?] or why did he make a angel that would betray him and then burn peoples souls for ever?
If thts the God you belive in then you must belive that once he is done with this fase of his plan than he will just kill every human off like he did with the Dinosaurs.
