So you're saying it's fair game to shatter his sword, you'll all be behind me in that decision.

Instead of metagaming him, just give him some advice on the truth about diamonds. In addition, give him alternatives to making sharper weapons, but tell him that he won't be "slicing" through someone's blade like he sees in comic books or cartoons unless he has some metaphysical lightsaber of sorts.
In addition, there are inverse proportions of sharpness to weight. Aka, cleaving vs. hacking.

Slifer Ozura You know what's a b***h, someone who brings a diamond blade to a sword fight. I mean, come on, if he's going to pull that kind of bullshit it's time for some cold hard science.
break it, then wear it around your neck like some bling.
i won't lie, alpha on one's Alpha Blade was diamond-edged. but then again, it was ceremonial and not ever made to be used in combat. of course after a good few uses it broke, and the sword was reforged with esterium instead of diamond, created to be functional, and still kept the frosty-looking blade [which is why the diamond was there at all].

No, this guy's sword isn't diamond edged. It's a giant diamond shaped like a sword, with a hilt attached.

They do add diamonds to materials for like...cutting, but they're machinery bits with it somehow added in, not whole cutting sheets made from pure diamond. sweatdrop

sun> yeah, that's how i was able o justify fighting with the Alphablade at all... it wasn't one big giant diamond, just a bit on the blade. something like that, it's cool with me. let suspension of disbelief work past that.
slifer> as Levi People it would be to break his sword, catch some shards, and sell them in a pawn shop or to a jeweler to fund whatever vice you have, do what vintrict said... very strongly suggest ic that because of diamond's properties, it's not going to do what he wants, and you're surprised he's able to fight with such a frightfully brittle weapon at all.
unless it's like... elven blessed for durability or something, which changes things. suspension of disbelief.

It's in the old Leviathan thread if you want to read my reply, but I did suggest IC that the blade would be unfightable with.

drills and saw blades can have diamond edging, it has to do with pressure. Regular metal gets jammed and then melts itself without the diamonds there to use their little sharp edges in combination with the extreme force and speed of the machinery to do the cutting... but the metal of those machines will still melt if special fluids are not poured on them as they cut to cool the metal and lubricate the cutting area

"Silly Hume, you think your jewel blade will protect you. How do you intend to fight with such an instrument, surely you brought something more equipped to combat than that? I shall take great pleasure in shattering first your blade, then your bones."
This was my warning to him. I'm not really feeling telling him OOC that his sword is going to break. He brought it in to be cheap and break my blade, that's the only reason someone would bring in a diamond blade. With the intention of slicing through s**t like butter.

There was a guy I used to work with that dealt with selling tools that did that. That's the only way I know.

I will Zodd Athan's sword into the arena. Let him get a good glimpse of a real durable weapon.
Then after that JB and I will pay a visit to Fish, kidnap him, and force him to write out some posts.
