"One of the things that an elf must learn to deal with is the existance of shorter lived races. Similar to how a human can love a puppy, elves find that they cannot resist the lure of the halfling's charm, or the curious nature of those hasty humans, and the occasional wisedom of the sturdy dwarves... Well, some elves like dwarves. I do." He chuckled, the dwarves were brave and bold, and died with honour when the time came, beside their elvish allies.
"How do we live with humans, when we know that they will be gone long before our chests grow heavy?" Cedric paused, "We accept that our long lives are a series of shorter ones, where we can live full life with the human, and accept that we will move onwards after they have fallen."
"But, how does that help us deal with the loss of another elf. We can expect them to always be there, a shadow to our steps, the stream of our lakes, the shield beside us. It is not the same when an elf dies as a human. We feel the loss... differently. The human can be no less important, but the loss of an elf is... different. An unexpected death. I guess you could say that when I form a relationship with a human, I understand that I will live several more centuries, and she will not. Its... beautiful while we are alive, but doomed to end with her last breath. I guess, its a form of... adaptation to non-elves."

Onyx verifiably gave one of those purrs, the seductive type.
"We'll think os something, I'm sure."
Before he started chuckling, he couldn't help it. but he did give Piper a big hug.
"Well, I think I'll try the candy adn flowers route..and come back..I am a bit curious as to what you jumped and tried to hide when I came in. something your keeping from dear old malik?"
"Now don't be too hasty to overdo it on the pegasus. they after all, can fly. a useful trick. you see, what you really want to do is get respect, but not at the cost of humiliation. that way, they'll follow you as thier leader and trust you."
Though a grin as nightmare gave him the 'stop messing with my kids' look.
"I know, hands off."

Jude lifted his chin a little and squinted his eyes, studying the man before him.
"None of us believe that you could be where you are today without some knowledge of not only how to use your magic, but your muscles as well. You're a man who understands the importance of being able to use both, ot protect himself, and others when need be."
She wrinkled his brow a little bit. "We can all feel it... you're a teacher... a seeker of truth... a protector."
He was acting as if he didn't fully undertand his own words.

"I'm not sure if that sounds happy or sad." She knew she was a half elf that would live longer than any human, if not near as long as any elf, yet she couldn't really wrap her finger around being that old, or loving so many peopel and seeing them die in front of her.
"Take it as comforting. It's a sad sort of happy."
Roarke put a hand on Jude's shoulders. "You're beyond your years, aren't you?" He stood, towering over the child.
"I'll train you, but once you start there is no backing out. For any of you. I'll run itno the ground, work you until you think your lungs are going to burst out of your chest then work you some more. When you start with fighting, playtime is over."
Moonstone took a hop and was in the air, flying to the clinic as fast as possible. He'd left Kat for almost four days! She'd probably be angry with him. He'd better be safe and pic up some supplies.
Which he did, carrying a crate full of bandages and herbs over his shoulder as he walked in. "Kat?"

A smile herself, scracthing between his ears after his hug. He was cute when he wanted to be, really. Though she narrowed her eyes in that none threatening but warning and almost playful manner. "I'm not telling you, next thing you know, you'll tell him and then he'll be onto me. It's hard enough to keep Broog from telling on me innocently enough. Though for your piece of mind, it's nothing dangerous."
He tilted his head in that 'I'm listening' way, giving an inquisitve noise or two at Malik. Then mom interjected. Oh but mom, I was enjoying listening to that. But mom's word was law around the stables and that was the end of that argument. I like him. Another happy nicker, nudging at his hand again, though he shook his head.

"Well, sometimes we elves choose to die." Cedric shrugged, "It really depends upon the situation. Should you choose to die, would you be abandoning anyone in the future?" The elf placed his hands on his belt, "Would you be running from an enemy you have or have not meet yet?" He allowed them to relax by his sides, "Have you surrendered to time, what time could not have?"
The elf shoke his head, "Wasting away is not the way you should go." He smiled, "Wasting away is a waste of that which might be the way."
"I guess, it matters on what you want to do." Confused, yes Cedric was. Someone had the shorter end of a few discussion on this topic, and was a tad resigned.

Jude squared out his shoulders and gave out a low wine to difficult for most humans to hear.
The other seven pups came running, some from near by, others from farther off. But Jude waited till all of them were present before he spoke again.
"We have already pledged ourselfs to each other. We will work, and we will work hard." He looked around at his comrades, his family. "Play time ended long ago...sensia" The all bowed their heads in unison.
The moment Moon walked through the door an empty herb container hit his head. Kat was sitting across the room with an infant cradled in her arms. The poor thing obviously had a high fever.
"You!: she said agressivly, "The cooling balm! Make it!." She threw yet another empty container at him, "Now!"
She reached for another empty container threataningly. Kat had not been asleep for 48 hours and she was iratible, she squinted her eyes. "Are those fresh bangases?" Her face changed immdiatly, she gave th ebabe to its mother and ran to moon. Grabbing the bandages, she did a small double take and kissed moon lightly on the cheek. "Welcome back." She then rushed to a bed side to properly dress a woman who had falen on her garden hoe.

Roarke looked down at all the Kin looking up at him, it kind of made him feel like his ancestor, Ton, when he started the magi academy. But...these were just kids! And he was going to teach them out to fight? He hoped he wasn't getting himself too deep.
"Alright, students. From here on in, you are no longer children, but you are not yet adults. When you have mastered the art I will teach you, you wills till ahve many years before I cal you adults. Until such time, you will follow every order I hand you and complete every task without fail. Understood?"
"Perhaps Cedric you should stop thinking on that matter for a moment and simply listen to the lagnuage your heart whispers. You wont' be able to understand it now, but when the time approaches, you will know what needs to be done." She smiled. "You'll know when your life needs to rest."
Something hit Moonsotne clear between the eyes. "Oof!: And he was thrown onto his back, with other things being thrown at him. "Aa! Aa! Cooling balm, okay okay!" His hands went up in front of his face. He blushed deeply when she kissed him. He didn't think he'd ever get used to sometihng like that. "Um...th-thanks."
He stood shakily, people inside watching him wearily. "No need to worry folks, I am a doctor." They gave him skeptical looks. He sighed, and took his herbs in a small side room to prepare the balm.
"How busy have we been, Kat?"

"I decided a while ago I was going to die diving into a burning building to save a kitten." Cedric bore an emotionless face, "But thinking too much is my achilles heel. Letting this subject drop requires external stimulus." HE turnedtowards Aella, and forced a cough.

Jude, Kaida, Adso, Ori, Mik, Zell, Zachadia, and Kuro all clapped a hand to their heart.
Jude spoke for them as usual. "We are yours to comand untill such time as you deem us worthy."
Together the pups all vioced the title of the man who had taken them in, "Sensia".
Kat came and stood beside Moon when she was finished with the dressing. "its been steady, it seems our reputation is growing. People are coming in for everything from slivers, to hemroids, to life threating wounds. No serious ilnesses yet though, thank god, we are not fully equiped for a sick ward yet... wich I would like to be. War and sickness seem to go hand in hand with each other."
She brightened suddenly. She reached to one of the many shelves and pulled down an old and well thumbed book. "One of our clients gave this to us. She was an elder and said she didn't have much family left so she didn't need it. Its a medical book! With all kinds of acoutns about wounds, and sickenesses and medicines!" SShe grinned happily, "There is some legit stuff in here!"

"Alright, pups. Hop to it. You're first task is five laps around the fortress. Outside. And I want you there inf six seconds. No stops, no breaks. Got it? Good. Go."
"You save the kitten." She would never admit it that was actually true or not, but it was good for Cedric.
She hung her head a bit. "Oh...I guess it's time for us to go?"
Moonstone nodded. "We need a quarentine is what we need. But this palce may not be big enough for that." He looked at the book she handed him. "Hey, that's aweful nice. Good to know that people like us. Have you tried soem of this stuff out?" He read through a few pages, and it all seemed good. This was jsut the type of thing they needed to run a successful practice.
He grabbed his coat and glasses from off the wall and put them on. "Have you talked to the landlord about getting the second floor for living space? I'm starting to get tired of sleeping on a hospital bed in the office."

The pups barked their understanding and took off at a flat run for the grounds.
"I've tried a couple of the simpler medicines, you know for fever and what not, they seem to work fine but I haven't had time for anything else." She let her shoulders drop. "I'm afraid we'll be sleeping in the office tonight. I'm sorry Moon but I haven't even had time eat let alone find the time to arrange a meeting with that man."
She put the book back lovingly on the shelf. She had already book marked several pages that seemed well worth their time. "I did however, get you a pillow. If I have to re-aline your spine one more time so help me I'll snap your neck."
She yawned lowdly. "Now, you go see to some patietns k? We need...everything prepared... um... bandages will last till tomorrow afternoone at least... I'll start crushing herbs." She pulled the mortar towards herself as she yawned again.

Malik was enjoying quiet time just pampering nad idly runnign hsi fingers over both Nightmare nad the Armoered foal, Ketrik was it again?or kentrik? something like that. just him and his thoughts for the moment. how to deal with sevilin. was his little plan still intact, hoping that the counter drug to teh Zahara's mornign after potion would work. and of course, worrying about Piper's condition, and the natural concern for the poison in Kieran's system.
Onyx had gotten flowers, after swiping them from a small garden in teh bowels of the fortress..not that they were the kind people usually liked. they didn't have much of a scent, but they were blood red. they were often used in necromantic potions, but harmless as flowers.
then the candy. hmm..that was a bit tougher, and he had to wait a few minutes while one of his wisps found it and took it. chocolates. so up and over to the Oracles room, nudge past Cedric a bit, and laying both objects on the bed.
"I wanted to apologize for my...outburst. I didn't mean to frighten you. I've been having trouble with my temper and my emotions since they were divided between me and Moonstone."

Meilikkie waved. "Do come back again, Cedric. I enjoy your voice."
Aella was just about to say goodbye when Onyx came in brandishing flowers and...whatever those were. "Oh um..." momentarily shocked. "You're forgiven?" She starred at the gifts a moment, unsure what to do next.
"Ah that's okay." He chuckled, "at least I'm goo practice for you." He rolled his shoulders and listened to his spine crack. He did up the buttons on his coat.
"I've got a great idea." He picked Kat up from aroudn the waist and threw her over one shoulder, carryign her out of the small prep room and into the office. "You take a few hours to nap. I'll finish up with the patients." he tossed her on the hospital bed he had dragged in their when first they had the office set up. He threw her a blanket. "Before you stich soemone's eyes closed."
