His lips were starting to run dry as he observed whatever was happening between the new guy and the two he was shadowing. He reeled back into his mind, recalling. He was sort of rushed out of the pods, so maybe this was standard procedure? The look mimsy gave him wasn't lost, just misinterpreted. He took it more as a 'stop being stupid' look. Okay so, standard procedure. He would make a note to ask Mimsy later if there was a specific set of instructions and questions to be asked. As he was introduced he gave a smile and a wave of a hand at Shiloh. "Pleasure to meet you." A pause, should he? "Please ignore me im just observing, learning the ropes myself."

“Hello Mimsy,” he began, swinging his legs forwad in his best attempt at standing out of the pod. But his knees were wobbly, and he reached a hand out, gripping onto the edge of the pod to steady himself. Shiloh nodded at Lucky and Quinn, grinning as though this were not an awkward first meeting at all. “Lucky, Quinn,” he continued. At first he watched Mimsy’s pen scrawl across her clipboard, curious about what she might be jotting down. Her first question had made sense, and seemed like standard protocol, but the one that followed had been strange and the young man had no idea what it meant. Perhaps it was some island custom he didn’t know about yet. Either way, it didn’t seem particularly harmful, and eventually his attention strayed from the clipboard while he glanced around the pod room. It was perhaps weirder than her question, and he looked over his shoulder at the pod he’d just moved from. Weird, he thought, giving a little shudder, glad to be out of it. He was definitely awake now, and the soft ‘tsk’ from Mimsy’s lips called his attention back, and he stared curiously at the trio in front of him. Concerned? Emotional bias? He started to wonder, then stopped himself, trying his best to clear his head. Dwelling on the questions was exactly what wasn’t wanted here, and he nodded again. “Okay, more questions, no answers, got it. Shoot.”

The pod doors opened smoothly, waking the man within with the sudden gust of fresh air it allowed in. He blinked his eyes open, squinting into the harsh, clinical light. He couldn't see much, just a few oval-shaped pod-looking things directly in front of him and the sparse, efficient inside of the container he was in. He could hear the faint whirring of machines in the background, though. He listened harder, for footsteps or talking or anything, but there wasn't anything.
Satisfied he wasn't in immediate danger, he leaned out of the pod. "Hello?"

Chel leaned back on the controlling console, pressing buttons she most likely shouldn't have been. Across from her was a very pretty lady, to whom she was explaining something to. "Look, all I'm saying is that if you tied a spoon to the dog's-"
A red flashing caught her eye. "Is that supposed to do that?"

Nevada leaned against a pod guarenteed not to open and shook her head.
"Tied the spoon to-" A pod whirled to life, opened up and revealed a Trainee. Smoothly, and not her first exprience, Nevada went over to the pod and smiled at the trainee inside.
"Hey there Handsome." She said, offering her hand to pull him out. "Good morning." She gave Chelsea a raised eyebrow over her eye patch and nodded her head for the girl to come over.

Chris squinted in surprise as a woman appeared in his vision, offering her hand, but she seemed at ease enough that he allowed a small smirk. "Mornin', Sunshine. You gonna fill me in on what's happening here?" He took her hand and climbed out of the pod as gracefully as it allowed. When he turned to see who else had been in the room with the woman he froze.
He brain did a magnificent impression of a short circuiting computer, because he couldn't get anything to process right. He refused to believe what his eyes were telling him.
"Chel?"

Chel trotted after Nevada like a lost puppy. Handsome? Oooh he was handsome?
"Dibs if he's my type~" Chel teased, reaching for Nevada's side, seeing no reason to not PDA in front of a stranger she didn't care about and would probably never see again.
Except then it wasn't a stranger (though never seeing him again was certainly on the table forever). "So you decided to run away again eh? What, couldn't handle what a ********' a*****e you are?" she said, nonchalantly ushering Nevada aside as she spoke, subtly moving the girl farther away without making too much of a fuss about it. She took the clipboard from Nevada's hands and wrote a big X over it, not even bothering to let the girl finish the paperwork.
And that was that.

Nevada smiled at the newcomer, "Sure, Me and my girlfriend here would love too.." She trailed off as Chelsea came over...and then moved her away from the guy. They recognized each other though, and for one moment, she had a panic as if...ANOTHER EXBOYFRIEND TO COMPETE WITH ON THE ISLAND. Great, just what she needed.
The big X and the way Chelsea handled it eased the whole competing urge, and left Nevada just plain confused.
"Did I miss something here?" There was a very pointed one eyed stare into Chelsea's back from her girlfriend.

There was a stuttered attempt to get his brain working again, in which he squinted some more and generally looked like a fish out of water, but once he caught up he was off.
"Run away again? Sweetheart, I didn't run in the first place. I grew up. This is me, growing up. Obviously I've taken the wrong path because somehow I've ended up right back here with you, still in immaturity zone or some s**t. How could you even equate what I did to running away?"
He went to take a step forward as he got more heated, but as he did his muscles gave a pathetic twitch and refused to cooperate. The collapsed under him and he went tumbling forward, quickly greeting the cold linoleum with a thud.

"There you go again ooh look at me I'm all grown up maybe now I can get out of my <******** diapers." Chel was exasperated within two seconds and it was quite apparent to see this conversation was going nowhere.
Then Nevada sputtered in, bringing Chel back to the labs for a moment. She squinted at the man who was now in a heap on the floor. "Oh excuse ********' me. This is Chris, the biggest shitstain on this planet. Chris, meet Nevada a girl who is five thousand times better than you could ever even dream of being." She didn't bother mentioning that the mess on the floor was her cousin, because she didn't want to be even remotely associated with him.
Chel then gently kicked his side with her boot (not enough to injure him in any way; even with her hatred Chel knew she'd get in major trouble for killing a trainee right out of the pod) and said, "Get up and say hi Mr. Adult. What, all that time in the military didn't do anything for 'ya?"

okay obviously these two had major issues. Girlfriend protocol said that she was to stand back and allow her lover to do as she pleased. The professionalism and general worry won over though.
"Children." Nevada snapped, moving past Chelsea to the young man on the floor and reaching down to help him up. She didn't think anyone should be kicked around but...Nevada wasn't really one to say that. Ex. Jack and Finn.
"Your limbs are weak because of the time in the pod and your death from your trials.." Nevada said curtly, still unsure of what the standing of these two was. "The basic gist is that we are a military-esque branch that combats/studies FEAR. You passed the trials, which is why you're here." She frowned, "And if your going to be here, I suppose you better clear up whatever this thing with you and Chelsea is..." Her gaze landed on the pink haired hunter, "Because I've had a fair share of terrible hunters coming here and don't have the patience for another one."

Chris was stopped just as he opened his mouth to b***h back at Chel. Ironically, it was a very childish and unattractive look. He rolled over to his back and once again took Nevada's hand. Clearly she was just going to be his life support through this whole thing, even though she'd just made him feel like he was five-years-old and in trouble again.
He did his best to keep up with her monologue and nodded. "I can do military," he said agreeably, though he was clearly still a little confused. "And I'm not the one with hang ups. I'm sorry you ended up with my cousin, because clearly you're five thousand times better than her, too."

Oh cousin! Nevada felt intimately much better now.
"Oh you're family!" She put her arm around his waist and smiled, "I'd like to think I'm more of the lucky one. your cousin takes very good care of me." She would wink at you Chelsea but one eye made it hard.
"I suppose we'll go back to the official things. You're on a island in the Bermuda Triangle. Ever since you were little, I am sure, you could see the shadows move, things that weren't normal. You were recruited here to combat or study those entities." Nevada began, "Deus recriuits people from across the world and puts them through a trial, to see if they can handle what the job offers. When you pass, you are sent here until you awaken." She waved to all the pods, "After this, we take you down to the cove, where you will find a partner...a weapon of sorts. Look it's kind of easier if you just go and see for yourself you know."
She looked up at Chelsea.

Chris absorbed the information, but all he actually said was, "The shadoooows..." like it was the answer to all life's questions. It kind of was.
He looked to Chel as well, pausing for a moment. "Guess I'm not the only one who escaped to the military." He didn't want to fight like this, not when so much s**t was going down and he had to process it all. He held out his fist for her to bump as a temporary truce of sorts.
It wasn't a permanent fix, but he wanted to call a time out. They could have their blowout later.
