Yeah, that's pretty bogus, considering you can't just swing them wildly and expect to deliver a serious wound. I mean, you can, but there is still skill involved.
Hell, even I can shoot a gun, but I probably can't use a sword to save my life. xd

I'm under the impression that virtually every weapon ever created requires no skill to use. But to actually use it well is another matter entirely.
But that's what montages are for.
[Edit]
Also, I'd say that applies to swords and guns. Anyone can fire a gun, and anyone can say that the kickback of firing one won't affect them. Until they actually fire it. I believe there's a very good reason that cops have gun ranges.

Bringing katanas into an argument about weapons is dishonorable.

you know I've heard of kids grabbing guns and accidentally pulling the trigger. Gotta be one damn stupid kid to stand in the way of someone swinging a sword at them.

If there are katanas, I'm sure they're being dishonored.
EDIT: Dammit Rage, beating me to it.

ragingtofu Bringing katanas into an argument about weapons is dishonorable. Ryugi Kazamaru If there are katanas, I'm sure they're being dishonored. The dishonor of the argument is being brought into the katana.

I... don't get it.
The thread title is "swords are for cowards" and every argument made that he quoted into the first post simply states that "guns are a better weapon, but still take skill to use well". Every argument. It's clearly stated that you'd be an idiot to bring a sword to a gunfight and that's not really something that can even be argued without going way into extremes of logic.
And yet, somehow, swords are a weapon for cowards because using one is more likely to get you killed.
I don't get it.
