I realized after I'd asked you. But then I thought you might know how to get the item, since you sold one. *wants item solely to have it in case useful*
Thanks! .....though....the subsequent grant link doesn't work anymore. ^_^;;

pandora why you play such horribly apt songs? i am hungry and you put on a song in which the first lines are "i've got a hunger twisting my stomach into knots" yes, thank you for reminding me of that. (song is the sound of settling by death cab for cutie if any one was wondering)
There is evidence that the early Christians celebrated Christmas as early as the 2nd and 3rd centuries. Constantine didn't become emperor until 306 and didn't convert until 312. Though the celebration of that feast and others certainly became more widespread after his conversion.
And I'd like to know where in the bible it says that because none of the biblical scholars I've looked up seem certain of a specific date. The only article that insisted upon a date, was one that asserted Christmas took place in September between the 16th and the 29th (So yay, Merry Christmas!). And even there it is not because the bible specifically laid out a date, rather it is based on deduction surrounding the specific Jewish ritual being performed when Zachariah found out Elizabeth was pregnant with John the Baptist. However, if indeed it says in the bible that He was born in April, why all this speculation?
And if a person misuses religion as an excuse to do "bad behavior" then it is a discredit to the person and not to the religion itself, especially if that "bad behavior" is in direct opposition to that religion's teachings. There will always be Judas Iscariots, but there are also going to be people like Maximilian Kolbe and Mother Theresa and Hugh O'Flaherty. Every organization and religion is going to have both cowards and offenders as well as heroes and saints.
And I don't need hear your reasons for why you hold the beliefs you do any more than I'm sure you want to hear mine, as I'm sure in either case it would be rather encroaching.
Finally, I don't know how birthdays work in your family, but in ours they're usually celebrated for 1-2 maybe 3 days. Wanting to bar an entire holiday from entire month just because it's the same month as your birthday, seems a bit... extreme. Not to mention that most people who decorate their yards with nativity scenes or sing Christmas carols aren't trying to be "intrusive" or "encroaching" but just really love the holiday and/or what it represents and are just expressing that love. I'm not going to feel encroached upon just because I see a bunch of Menorahs. Not to mention that there are Atheists who celebrate Christmas, meaning it's not just a Christian or even religious holiday anymore. Now if your birthday was actually on Christmas day, I'd understand the annoyance a bit more.
I had not heard that, which is fascinating I must say.
There would be that much speculation, because at the time there was no such thing as birth certificates and any other documentation from the time cannot be positively proven to be correct. I mean, even the bible has been edited and revised, books of gospel cut and destroyed.
No, I more meant the people who use the teachings from the pope/their interpretation of the bible to behave badly. Not those who use religion as an excuse. I know that if someone uses religion as an excuse is more on the person and not the religion. Personally, I believe that even if Mother Teresa hadn't been catholic, she still would have done all her good works. You do not need religious drive to do good works.
As for my birthday. I don't have an issue with people putting nativity scenes in their front yards, that is not "encroaching" on me. What is, is the fact that during the entire month of December, I am inundated from everywhere with religion. It's gotten worse with Christmas decorations and such like getting set out in stores months in advance. Each person is entitled to their celebration of the season. I have more issue with the people who cover their yards in those crazy blow-up....things, than anyone who chooses to stick a nativity scene in their yard or sing Xmas Carols.
I am well aware of the fact that Christmas is not just a religious holiday anymore. My issue with Christmas is, as I hope has been apparent, not entirely religious. Yes, I do not like the religious factor, but I more hate the fact that during December no matter where I go it is COATED in Christmas. The music, colors, decor all grates on me badly. I love the spirit of the season, the giving and being kind, but the rest of it I just cannot stand. My annoyance about my birthday and Christmas, besides the small bit about religion is that I am surrounded by all the other, completely non-religious stuff from Christmas that I hate. Even though my birthday is early in December, by that point, everywhere has been coated in way too much xmas for me....a little is nice, but to coat a store in tinsel, fake snow and have xmas songs playing all the time....no. Just no.
Yes, it is.
...... I was the one who said that no one knew when He was born and then you said:
Quote:
As I recall learning in my World Religions class, somewhere contained within the Bible it says that Jesus was born sometime in April.
And now you're saying no one really knows? I know they didn't have birth certificates. Heck, Jews didn't even celebrate birthdays. So they had no reason to keep track of that. I was asking why there was speculation if the bible specifically said it was in April, and where in the bible it says that date.
And "people who use the teachings from the pope/their interpretation of the bible to behave badly" is still a discredit to person, and not to the bible or the pope. And it's true that you don't need religious drive to do good, but you don't need religious drive to do evil either. You look at the evil people who are religious and say that religion is to blame. You look at the good people who are religious and say that they would have been good anyway. Ever think that the opposite might actually be the case? And I think Mother Teresa was indeed inspired by her faith.
“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done. We will be judged by "I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless, and you took me in.” ― Mother Teresa
And there is no way to prove she would have lived the way she did if she wasn't.
You're bothered by blow-up things...? And I don't like how early they put stuff up either, but there's a reason for that. All that merchandise is stored at a warehouse and the store has to pay to keep it there. So as soon as the last holiday is over, they get that stuff outta there pronto. As soon as the 4th of July is over, Back to School stuff is set up. As soon as school starts, the store's filled with Halloween, etc. etc. And I'm sorry all the fancy santas and lights and reindeer and snowmen and carols bother you, but it's kind of part of our culture. There's no escaping it, so there's no point giving yourself a headache getting worked up over it.

I was saying that is what I recalled learning. When I brought that up, my point was about how that, as I was informed, Jesus's birthday was not Dec 24/25. And that, if it is in thee bible as I had been told, then the bible is contradicting itself in a major way within its own pages. I shouldn't have even brought that up, since it has caused so much miscommunication.
Yes. That is true, but so is the fact that the "bad behavior caused by religion" I perceive is not just the going out and killing in the name of God kind. But again, what I am really trying to explain/say is not as apparent as I had hoped it to be. I consider being blinded by the rule of others and the teachings of someone else to the point that you cannot use logic/see logic to be just as bad as anything else. In the interest of not continuing to screw up explaining my thoughts/reasons/etc, which I have been, so far, doing a masterful job of, I will not get into that.
And to be frank, I find that most people are "evil", not because they do bad things, but because they cannot think. But again, this is another can of worms I will avoid opening, because I know very well that most anyone who I might explain that to will not understand how I mean it and think me a horrible monster. Most of my ideas, which are based on logical reasoning and sometimes some science, the understanding of why most everyone else wouldn't think like I do/understand why I think like that, would cause that same reaction. I have always known this and usually try to not tell them to anyone who I know would get extremely offended by my thoughts, ideas and understandings, because it would just cause issues. Which, it has here.
"Good" and "Evil" exist in everything. Religion, science, the weather. It cannot be escaped.
And, as many people have said before, you cannot prove even that. Because Death is the only journey no one has come back from to tell us what it was like.
No, it was an example. I am bothered by the sheer quantity of christmas stuff that is all over during xmas and the months leading up to it. I know and understand the reason why it is like that, but it does not mean I have to like it. I understand that the retail stores are most interested in having as much stock out as possible and getting as many people to come through their doors as is possible. And it's not like I try to give myself a head ache over it. In fact, I try my hardest to ignore all of it and am unable to, because of it being such a large part of our culture and therefor inescapable. Even in my house....my sister plays xmas music practically non stop once thanksgiving is over.... There are other holidays that grate on me in much the same way, but since they are not a everywhere as christmas, it's easier to escape it.
I apologize if I have managed to anger and annoy you. I have not been doing a good job of properly stating and wording things to convey the proper meaning. That is entirely my fault and I hope you will forgive me for it.
That was seriously the most hardcore DMS run I have ever done. We lost a person in the middle of the yellow maze, and I tried to recruit another person, but no one was there, so I ended up bringing four buffs to make up for the two we lost, and we did a few rooms with only 5 people before someone invited their friend. And to top it all off, carrying the buffs dropped my level, and I still survived.
I feel like I can do anything.

I like cats. They use the litter box, their good sleeping buddies.
^^'
Problem is the claws. When their sleeping between your legs, dig in. At your weak spot. That spot we care about deeply.
Oh, I know. Thankfully, this little guy will be a great sleeping companion, once he's older. Just...today, stuff has made puppy-cute-powers rather moot....
That is just painful. Ouch.
^^'
For guys. Yes.
Which is why I am so glad I'm not a guy.
^^
You are very lucky. You lady's don't have that weakness.

Yep! Though I'd still prefer being a guy at times.... Just to avoid the idiotic female stereotypes. I actually like the male stereotypes better. But then again, I'm weird like that.
