I just wanted to stop in and say hello to everyone, as I haven't been around lately. Hello!

Both my mom and my step-dad were diagnosed with cancer in January (my step-dad for the third time), so this has required two major surgeries (one for each) in less than a month. My mom is recovering well now, and my step-dad's surgery is scheduled for Monday. Thankfully, my mom won't need chemo or anything, but they are undecided if my step-dad will have to go through it a third time.

I know not everyone needed to know all of that, but I thought I'd explain my absence/scarceness. I still check Gaia about once or twice a day (and I try to stop in and lurk the guild for a minute or two), but if anyone needs me, I'm only a PM away!

Three times? He is a very strong person! I was scared as heck once when I went to the doctor to check if I had cancer (due an odd lump I had on my body). Luckily it turned out to be a false alarm.

You are also a strong person that has to go through all that, knowing both your parents have/had cancer. sad

Thank you both, MysticKoi and Yuudai!

MysticKoi, I'm sorry about your grandfather, I hope he pulled through.

Yuudai, I actually was getting checked for breast cancer (I had a strange lump) when all of this was going on >.< I know how scary that can be! I'm glad we both had false alarms!

My mom is starting to move around a lot, I even took her to the mall a few days ago and let her scoot around and we got Starbucks, I think it was good for her to get out!

My step-dad is nervous, but they gave him better odds this time than ever before, and this time they gave him better odds not only to live (insert number here) years, but to be completely cured of it, so I'm determined to stay positive about it ^_^

...I like coming on Gaia and stuff to escape for a few moments, though >.< I missed the Valentine's Day events here in Haven, so I'm hoping I can participate in a few St. Patrick's Day events!

WOO St. Patty!!
I'm so excited, what does you family/friends do on St. Patricks Day?
PostPosted: Fri Mar 07, 2008 2:19 pm

Awh, sorry to hear about relatives with cancer, Iki and Mystic. I seriously wish both of you the best in all that. And you're right, it's best to stay positive!

I'm excited for the 17th as well! I don't do much, but the events here should be fun. And my 14th birthday is exactly a week after it, so that's exciting. :]

I hope nothing but the best for you guys. I have been lucky enough not to go through anything like that. I think the only person I knew that had cancer was my dad's best friend but he was cured of it. I really hope that everything will turn out to be good and I also think that it is good to be positive!!

For St. Patty's Day, my school has the "Queen of Green". Each guy gets a paper clover necklace to wear and they can't talk to any girls. If they do, they have to give up their clover to the girl. The girl with the most at the end of the day gets a little prize. It's the same thing on Valentines but the girls get hearts instead.

The story about taking your mum to the mall made me melt. It's the little moments like that that touch you and you hold on to. And the better odds than ever before for your step-dad sounds like an absolute miracle. With yourself and everyone here in the Puff common room sending out positive vibes into the universe I can only see the greatest outcome out of all this for you and your family.

That sounds so cute and fun, hopefully I can steal that idea and get it going at my school.

Oh My! Thats sounds like it would be so much fun. My school was never clever enough to come up with something so cute.

Yea that is about all my school can come up with. HaHa... My school is pretty dull. What kind of things does your school do each year? Anything other schools don't do. I think about the only thing besides Valentines and St. Patty's day that our school does is..... uhhhh..... I actually don't think that there is anything that our school does XD. Yupp my school is boring. Oh wait....nope other schools do that too....

Well, when I was in school the only thing they really did was try to inspire us to wear green. There really wasn't any games. So, I'd count my blessings if I were you. ^.^

Ahhh.... I'm sorry. Does anyone still get pinched or kissed when they don't wear green? I do and my friends pinch hard XD.

So, yay!! I got ALL of my homework done, which was a lot. I had to write 2 papers, do 2, 4 page packets, read a book and finish Algebra II. So now I feel like I had a BIG weight lifted off my shoulders and now I can do what ever I want for the next 1/2 hour! (I have to go to work in 1/2 hour)

Here's another question: What is an average amount of homework if you are still in school?

Mine usually isn't near as big as that but I had some back work that I had to do.

I'm in year 12 right now. My work load is very large right now and sometimes I get very overwhelmed. Unfortunately I don't do as much work as I should (dang you gaia!!)
PostPosted: Mon Mar 10, 2008 3:05 pm

LOL. I'm only in year 11 myself, but I'm doing a bunch of college classes so my work load is intense. I don't do half the work, and it's not because of gaia as most of you guys can verify. Sorry I haven't been active. Oh, and the first Quidditch practice has been posted for 3-11-08 about 4 American Mountain time. You guys on the team know where to go. Those of you not on the team, it's not too late. All of the lead positions are taken, but you can still have a BU position. Just go to the Hufflepuff Quidditch tryout thread and follow the directions.

As for my school, we don't really do anything fun for Valentines or things like that. This week is battle of the sexes week, so it's us girls against us guys. Last year one of the sophmores decided that he wasn't going to talk to girls all week because of it. Well his cousin was also a sophmore at the school, so she wound up as his translator when he needed to tell a girl something. It was highly entertaining. Though it was terrifying on Friday when a lot of the drama boys wore dresses or skirts, and the drama girls wore baggy pants. How natural some of the guys looked made me scared for life.

Battle of the Sexes seems pretty awesome. Our school has never done anything like that. Well, the last couple of years our football guys have dressed up in the old cheerleading outfits for the the homecoming peprally and then they dance and its pretty scary but really funny!!!! Our pep rally's are really fun but seeing as we are a pretty small school, the students get a lot more involved I think, but I don't know because I have never been to another school's peprally XD.
