Aphrodite smiled. Ares would love that. "Good! It's nice to know that you know there's no rush! Smart girl," she praised, popping another chocolate into her mouth while chewing thoughtfully. "However, I think you'll find that most everything comes back to Love in one way or another. It doesn't necessarily have to be a sexual or romantic love... but the basis of life is love," she said wisely. "Well," she said, shuffling some papers on her desk, "Is there anything else you might want to ask or know? I just want you to know that even though I'm a councilor, I'm also here as a friend. I won't judge... ever. Really... I've had some screw-ups I'm not proud of, erm, make that a lot of screw-ups... so I get it."

Albtraum Der Angst
Musica frowned, seeing how she'd interpretted his words differently from what he meant. She must not sense the presence of quite a few Gods of different assortments. He brought his lips close to her ear, breathing his warm breath against it. "I understand what you mean, but I sense something bigger here that goes beyond mortal senses. I sense a gathering of some of the Gods, though not from Asgard I can assure you. Thankfully they haven't noticed my presence, or they'd surely seek a demigod like me out. Can you not feel the power buzzing in the air? I thought even mortals could tell." He stayed close to her ear, humming to mimic the buzzing he was referring to. He then laughed, only playing with her but still it was a serious question despite his playing.

"I... yeah," she said, feeling the hum. It was a noise, and she could tell the epicenter of it. It dispersed, though, fairly quickly. It was then that the bell rang. "Shoot," she muttered, "... classes!" Ari jumped up from the sofa and fumbled in her bag for her glasses and schedule. She found both, and slid the glasses back over her eyes. "I'll see you at lunch, ja?" she said, hope leaking into her voice. She wasn't sure how to officially leave. Another kiss? A hug? She, unlike the other students, had ten minutes to get to class due to her 'disability'... but it felt like forever. She hesitated, not knowing what to do. She hoped he would act for her.

Ever smiled after she had swallowed the last bit of her chocolate. She swirled her tongue around her teeth to make sure there wasn't any chocolate residue left on them and then spoke.

"Uh, no, nothing that I can really think of. I, luckily, don't have too many problems that I can't handle myself. I'm only 16, so thankfully, there aren't that many big problems in my life. I haven't had the chance to make many big mistakes. If I do make a mistake, I try to mend it myself. I think a person learns best that way."

Ever stood up from the couch and shouldered her bag again. "But thank you for meeting me, Mis... uh, Aphira. I'll keep in mind that you're here."

She held out her hand to Aphira.

Damn her. Damn her for being an intelligent and independent young woman. “Sure thing,” Aphrodite said, nodding. She took Evermore’s proffered hand. As the two Goddesses hands touched, Aphrodite’s suppressed aura resurfaced, surging to maximum power and overloading Evermore’s aura. The result was a sharp shock, and a ’pop!’ at their joined hands. Aphrodite froze in shock, wondering what to do, and how in Hades she could cover that up. If she could pass it off as static… surely Evermore would have felt the first-class Goddess Aura right in front of her.

Ever gasped and actually was thrown back into a seated position on the couch behind her. Her eyes were wide and her entire body was thrumming with energy now. Energy that she had only ever gotten when she had touched hands with one of the 12 main Olympian Gods...

Her wide eyes soon began to narrow, though, when all the pieces started to fit: Ares telling her that Aphrodite was at Bai Ching now, Akira telling her that a staff member had helped her back to the school last night, the fact that there was a new guidance counselor today, right after the incident at the lake occurred yesterday.

Now fully scowling, Ever slowly stood back up with her book bag still on her shoulder and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Aphrodite... The romance spleal you gave a moment ago should have tipped me off."

"You should speak with more respect, hun," Aphrodite said sweetly, her form rippling. She was back to her normal body now. The middle-sized Aphira was no more. The 6' 2" blond beauty before Evermore was pure goddess. "... and it wasn't a speal. It was the truth. There's love all around us," she said, waving her hand in a dreamy fashion. "Don't cross you arms at me, I haven't offended you!" she said lazily, putting a hand on her curvy hip. "Besides, you look frumpy when you do that... like a spoiled little girl who didn't get her way. Very unattractive. Come now, you are not three... then again, you technically are aren't you?" she asked curiously.

{{lol!! Oh man I love Aphrodite... smile }}

Ever sighed but did uncross her arms. "Ok first, I will show respect to those who I think deserve it. You've never showed me any respect in the past, not even when Zeus introduced me to you, YES, 3 years ago. I don't think you even remembered me after that!"

Man! Ever felt so insignificant and ugly standing there in front of Aphrodite in her full form now. She wasn't one to obsess about looks, but jeez... She felt self conscious.

"Look, Aphrodite, I have discovered nothing about the lake. I'm telling you the same thing I told Ares, so you can send this message back to everyone on Olympus. STOP dropping by to try and get information out of me. I don't have any!"

Back on Mt Olympus, Ares had felt the surge of power between Evermore and Aphrodite. He had been looking for it, waiting for it, and it had come. Now he just needed to decide if he should interfere or not... Was it his place to go find out how they got along?

"The lake?" Aphrodite asked, confused. "What on Earth and Olympus does the bloody lake have to do with anything?" she asked, genuinely confused. "Nobody sent me here... I came here to get away from the other Gods and Goddesses!" she exclaimed. "And as for me 'trying to get information out of you'," she said rather harshly, "I haven't asked you one damned question in that direction have I? Believe it or not, not everything is about you and what you discover. I don't see National Geographic here trying to get a scoop, do you?"

She examined her nails. "As for three years ago, I only have two words: Grow. Up. I'm a Goddess, and the ever-present love-life of the mortal population is a bit more important than ANOTHER inbred baby showing up at Olympus. Honey, we're ALL inbred... you weren't that special, and definitely nothing new. I blessed you, if that matters at all. Grudges are petty, and very unbecoming," she added in after thought. She tossed her golden hair over her shoulder, and gave her a pretty smile. Her blue eyes were sparkling with mirth.

{{LOL!!! Oh my gosh, Rrine! Your posts are amazing and are making me laugh so hard!}}

Ever was not used to this feeling. She was feeling quite little and insignificant right now, and she did not like it! She could also feel her maturity level dropping quickly.

Though, she wasn't put out enough to believe Aphrodite's 'innocent' act about the lake. She just wouldn't tell Ever anything. That was fine because she didn't need her to, anyway.

Her scowl was deepening and her eyes were beginning to flash red.

"Aphrodite, if you're so important, then what are you doing at a school full of high school girls? You'd think that someone of your 'stature' could find a more exotic place to hide out. What, the epic romances becoming too much for you, so you thought you'd focus more on the raging teenage hormones that masquerade as love instead?"

She smirked darkly at Aphrodite.

Musica frowned but jumped up after her quite giddily. "Classes are important so I will not hold you back from going." He grabbed her shoulders to lean in and kiss her on the forehead. He then pulled away and started walking towards the steps to go back down to his stand. He threw up a hand to her and waved. "You'll always find me at my coffee stand whenever your looking for me. See you then I suppose."

“You’re right,” she said, nodding to Evermore, “I could have gone somewhere exotic to ‘hide’ as you put it. Being the Goddess of love is a never ending cycle. I’m not here to ‘hide’… merely to take a break,” she said, looking to the girl. “I don’t go handing out my personal reasoning for my choices to just anyone who asks, which unfortunately Dear Evermore, includes you,” she said waspishly.

“… but I’ll throw you a bone. When you look at me, what do you see?” she asked, looking at her mournfully. Aphrodite suddenly held up her hand. “No, no… let me guess. First: You see my beauty,” it wasn’t an arrogant statement, but the truth. People did notice her beauty first. “… Then, (for you at least), you see the Goddess of Love. My history is infamous, and you judge me upon that without knowing me. You assume I’m one-dimensional, vain, selfish, and a slut due to the amount of men I’ve kept company with. That,” she said softly, “Is the common misconception.” She pulled her hair back over her shoulder and ran her fingers through it thoughtfully. “I won’t deny that I can be vain upon occasion, selfish… but who isn’t? Will you damn me for that? Just as the legends remember me as a temperamental brat doesn’t mean I haven’t grown up. It’s been millennia, and I was younger then. I changed with the times,” she said.

“Did you know,” Aphrodite asked, “that there are beautiful girls out there, both inside and out, that don’t think them to be so? It’s because of society. Girls are constantly told they’re not perfect, they’re not ‘model thin’…. And then what? I’ll tell you what: disorders. Anorexia, Bulimia, etc. It’s not healthy. Even here, Evermore, there are at least 10 girls with serious problems and doubting their beauty. I could have seen them already, but I’m having this lovely conversation about you trying to belittle my intentions. I’m here to help these girls. You’re beautiful, they’re beautiful… and they need someone to tell them that. Oh, but I forgot!” she said with a tinkling laugh, “You’re Evermore, and an amazing at judging people you don’t really know! Jeese, I guess I shouldn’t have gone to college… right? I mean, who needs a degree in psychology? I’ll just go back to Olympus and be vain there! Hell, maybe I’ll go to Bora Bora!” she snapped at Evermore. “You should try to see the good in people… not the bad. You’ll become a nasty harpy, or a pessimist.”

{{Very cool post, Rrine! biggrin }}

Ever had stared at Aphrodite with her mouth slightly agape as she listened to her. When she was done, Ever didn't move for a full minute.

Then, finally, Ever took a deep breath and let it out. "I never said I judged you, but thanks for that long speech for nothing."

Ever shook her head and sat back down on the couch. Aphrodite might be a goddess, but maybe she actually had feelings. Maybe Ever's bias against gods was unfounded. After all, she did like Athena.

"Look, Aphrodite, I only responded to you the way I did because you were rude to me first. You demanded my respect without giving me any. I don't even know you, and you don't know me. So I won't just give you unquestioning respect when you are rude to me. And I do not have the best opinion of gods, despite the fact that I am one. But the 12 Main Gods I have the most problems with, except for Athena and Zeus. They have been kind and accepting."

She leaned back against the couch and crossed her legs at the knees. "Most gods have a history of playing games with mortals, and for the majority of my life, it has been mortals that have accepted me and been so nice to me. I don't like anybody that plays games with people for their own amusement or those who look down on others simply because they think they're better than everyone else due to what family they were born into."

"Be that as it may," she said, "I never asked for your mindless following. I only asked for what was due to me: The respect a child has for any adult. More respect comes with time, and I know that, but I would appreciate a little less back sass from you," she quipped. "Daddy has always been relatively accepting, and as has my sister. That does not mean you damn the rest of us... give us a second chance. It people like you that hold grudges that start the wars," she said. "I won't deny I have played with mortals, (all of us have at one point or another!), but I received my due. Trust me, I have stopped that practice... otherwise I would be here to hinder and not help, yes?" she said, raising an eyebrow. "Even though I am a Goddess, I'm still your councilor, and I would hope that you will still come to me with problems perhaps? What say we put everything behind us, (including your birth incident), behind us and start over?"

"S-sure," she said, stuttering slightly. "I'll catch you later!" she hurried off along the corridor, searching for her math class. It turned out that she didn't need the extra five minutes, for she walked in right as the bell rang. She settled awkwardly in her desk, pulling out a braille printer so she could take notes. Her Calculus teacher began her lecture, and Ari positioned her hands on the typewriter and began to 'write'.
