I suppose that depends on the importance of the weapon to the character. For Ryugi, he went on a big old quest to find Ragnarok. It was/still is a major story element to him, and since he's a fighter, his weapon is every bit as important as him.

There is even an item one of the artists created for it cause everyone is sick and tired of seeing "Gaia Cash" ads ******** everywhere
