Well, something I'd offer up as far as that is that weapons don't always need designs. Ragnarok is a "Legendary" sword that was owned by a great hero of Ryugi's homeland, and it was the sword created to be wielded by the general of his homeland's army. Thus, it should be fancy-looking and ornate.
To me, its really all about character. A weapon is as much a character as a flesh and blood person. The way a weapon looks defines its personality. For example, if you have a dwarf character, he probably won't have a curvaceous, ornate blade. He'd probably have a bigger, bulkier, stockier looking sword that would likely have many hard, sharp lines to it.
Ragnarok should give off a personality of power, grace, or nobility, and I think the design gives that feel to it. Its a matter of thinking how the lines of the weapon and its ornateness play together to create something beautiful, rugged, or just a simple sword hanging in a shop window.
But that is all stuff I consider when designing a weapon. Long-winded though it may be. xp

Well, when you've been RPing with the same character for years, and get attached to them, one would expect you might want to flesh things out a bit more. But, Ryugi still has the first weapon he bought as a part of his arsenal. Its history was written by him, but it started out as a store-bought weapon. 3nodding @Sunny-muffins - Thank you. Ryugi - I've had some characters for years, but I was focusing more on them, then on their weapons. OTL I fail in so many ways. xD;
