Michi was on. Spot on. Sure, there were a few things that Narcissus saw that he'd have to coach Michi on... but to be honest, he was a lot better than the man had expected. The physical therapist's natural flirtatious self was shining through... and for once, the young Koyasu was glad that it wasn't directed at himself. Maybe this would be the outlet his friend needed for all that pent up sexual energy? Instead of standing backstage though, Akihiko was sitting in a folding chair, watching carefully. He was leaning forward, elbows on his knees, taking in the sight and analyzing every second of it. "Nothing your aunt and uncle do surprises me anymore." the musician spoke with a smirk, glancing at his partner. "They invested some in Michi-kun. PLUS since they're investing in the company itself... only natural they get a little sponsorship time." In truth, Akihiko didn't mind in the least that the Ishi's were using this as a promotional moment for MeKA. The company had helped them tremendously recently, and of course that company was Izzy's own future one day. "He's doing better than I thought he would." Narcissus pointed out, leaning back in his chair and crossing one leg over the other at the knee, glancing at Izzy for a moment. "It's not easy to be the opening act..."

"Vulnerable..." Katsu pondered the word and the implications for a long moment. "Perhaps that's what he is doing. I've been shooting off my mouth lately... perhaps this was his way of telling me to think before I speak. Then again... I've never been very good at that." This time however, Azriel waited until Kaito was gone from the room and in the closet before he tried to get out of the bath. It took him a few moments, and luckily there was a railing he could half pull himself up on. Getting his legs to support him was the hardest part. His muscles still twitched, that jell-o feeling hardly gone. Least his feet weren't freezing. Walking out of the bathroom, Katsu resisted the urge to sit on the bed and instead looked over what Kaito was picking from the closet, keeping the towel around his waist. "Those are fine. Mmmm yeah, something loose but make sure it'd look nice with gloves." he paused, tilting his head to the side slightly. "I don't want you that deep, Kaito-kun. Ever. You're to stay away from the pit completely." very carefully, Azriel reached out and wrapped his arms around the other man from behind, hugging him. "You're too important to me to lose, you know. The doctor would have to think twice about hurting Asato-kun... but he wouldn't even have to bat an eyelash to hurt you... and I can't have that happening to my friend."
Meanwhile... an hour or so later... Dressed and in perfect form, especially given his injuries and pains, Katsumi was stepping out of the car. He was wrapped in a very thick faux leopard fur coat that went down to his ankles with black almost skin tight leather gloves. His hair was straight and framing his face... a face that bore no more makeup than enough to make him more handsome. No one would really know this was Azriel... no... they would just think him someone rich. With a well dressed Kaito at his side, the vocalist presented the tickets at the door, one of the bouncers actually showing them to the staircase for the second floor. After another quick check through security, the bat and his 'date' for lack of a better term, were seated at their table. Faces Katsu knew, or at least knew of, were everywhere on this second level of the club. He failed to even so much as look at Izo. Oh no, the bat was still in pain and still pissed off about the shark's earlier visit. Luckily, he could hide pain well. At least to an extent. Hiroki was there, and while Azriel didn't dwell on seeing the man... he DID throw his lover a secret wink before ordering a ginger ale of all things from the waitress. He really didn't need to get drunk... again... "So many bodies down there." Katsumi spoke to Kaito, smiling at him. "Makes me wish I felt like dancing myself."

NIGHT IN THE CITY The Club Comes Alive!
"No...it isn't easy to be the opening act. I'm glad it's not me." Izzy answered as he watched. "He's doing pretty good too. I'm a little nervous myself." His hands were slightly chilly as he rubbed them against his sides. "I guess it is a good thing they surprised Michi. It really did wonders for his performance."
By the time the first song ended, Michi and Kayla had the Club dancing up a storm and behind the curtain Ko was having a blast. He glanced quickly back at Yuuji and Shou while his fingers played down towards the ending notes. His eyes, could see a little bit through the curtain so the shadows of Michi's body, a girl and the band were in his sites. But more so he could hear Yammi's guitar and the other band members plus his two vocalists. He really didn't need eyes to feel out what was going on as long as his ears could hear it.
Michi decided right at the end with a grab to Kayla's hand. His fingers went up to his lips as if to say quiet...but she knew it meant Silence. Another song she had been around for his practice in the states, in fact she had coached a few of his moves so she knew what to expect. Her body shifted to caress his face and then he stared to move in to the next song slowing his movements as she came near to him.
Yammi caught on quick and synced his rhythm with the two as the moved closer. This wasn't their original plan at all however, Michi was staying with the set and this would be his last song of the night.
In the back, Ko blinked, "We're not doing it the same as...Oh...must be a change." His fingers shifted and just in time leapt into place switching his sequence of keys so even if it wasn't the exact same music, it was a perfect fit to the song. He wanted it to sound like perfection rather than a jumping into place and everyone hearing that it sounded strange. Soon his notes flowed into the proper sequence intended for the song. Only the pros that hear the song in practice might have known the difference. In fact, it might have sounded better than the first time around.
Shou smirked as Ko caught on and up. Then he whispered to Yuuji, "He's so cute there...Michi's doing well too for his first go. What do you think?"
Michi's tenor soften as the lyrics of the song flowed from his moist lips. He remembered writing this one as well, and as most of the songs he had come up with, they revolved around one man. Although, this song could be interpreted in so many ways, Maybe the inspiration would hold true for many others.
Michi and Kayla's slow act wove around each other then separated as the two moved across the stage making sure the audience could feel the desperate heart of one filled with uncertainty.
Break the silence "mou aenai" to kimi ga itta Mawashita te wo sotto hanashite shisen sorashita Dare ga tomeru no? I can show you the way to go kimi to ikitai
Break the silence, you said we can’t see each other anymore You took your hand away and looked away Who’s gonna stop me? I can show you the way to go, I wanna go with you
Goin' dangerous goin' dangerous kodou kanjireba Damatteru kimi no me wo kaereru ki ga shite Oikakete mo oikakete mo todokanai Kimi dake ni kidzuite hoshii
Goin' dangerous goin' dangerous, you may not be saying anything now But I’ve got a feeling your eyes will change when you feel my heart I chase you and chase you but I can’t reach you You’re the only one I want to notice me
By the time, Michi reached this portion of the song, he had moved along the walk way to the second stage, walking like a brokenhearted man struggling with his thoughts as he sang. Several time he turned to the audience as he sung as if trying to reaffirm his thoughts. Meanwhile, Kayla drifted off stage and snuck around the backstage to get to the other side. She'd meet him there in the end.
Ima destinys' callin' kanchigai no koi wa hakanaku Yamete oke tte mawari wa iu kedo I know I'm crazy Koko de haguretara? Koukai suruze
Destiny’s callin’ now, a misunderstanding shattered our love Everyone tells me to give it up I know I'm crazy, but if you leave now...you’ll regret it
Goin' dangerous goin' dangerous kokyuu kasanereba Kimi no me ni mieru kage keseru ki ga shite Kataomoi de mo itoshi sugite koware sou Kimi dake ni sunao ni naritai
Goin' dangerous goin' dangerous, there may be shadows in your eyes now But I’ve got a feeling they’ll be gone when we breathe as one I know it’s unrequited love, but I love you so much I’m falling apart You’re the only one I want to be honest with
Too dangerous for me too dangerous Goin' dangerous too dangerous for me
While he was singing, she slowly drifted up behind him.
Silence, I know you wanna hear ur beloved baby's voice sexy lady I need ur "miss" & peace & risk & kiss
And as she turned, he sang these words while she put a hand on his shoulder and mouthed.
Chinmoku yabutte "aishiteru?" to kimi ga kiita
You broke the silence and said “Do you love me?”
Goin' dangerous goin' dangerous kodou kanjireba Damatteru kimi no me wo kaereru ki ga shite Ibara no michi de kizutsuite mo kimi ga suki Goin' dangerous goin' dangerous ikou tamerai mo Kimi dake ni kidzuite hoshii
Goin' dangerous goin' dangerous, you may not be saying anything now But I’ve got a feeling your eyes will change when you feel my heart Even if I get scratched on this thorny road, I’ll still love you Goin' dangerous goin' dangerous, I’ll go You’re the only one I want to notice my hesitation He pulled her in by the hand and swirled her around as if an admission of love and by the time the music ended the curtain of the second stage encased them and hid them from the audience.
Kayla grinned at Michi, "First night are always a b***h. But...we made it." She stood on her toes and gave him a kiss upon his lips. Yeah she was a hot number...and Michi surely didn't mind the distraction. He savored it.
He turned to look at the curtain. "They liked us!" As he spoke the curtain opened again and both of them gave a bow. "Thank you very much. Expect more in the future, Minna-san!" he called out over the mic as Kayla threw kisses to the crowd.
A few flowers floated their way, Kayla reached down and picked up two before turning to hand one to Michi. She waved at the crowd again as the curtain closed on stage 2.
Meanwhile, stage 1's curtain had closed at the same time as stage 2's first closing. Izzy rushed into place and was preparing to go...glancing back at Shou then over to Narcissus and Yammi. Yammi winked at Izzy and mouthed, "You have to do better than Michi." He was teasing his old friend but Izzy sure did feel like he had to make an impression. Michi got a boost from an American star, his performance would be totally his own. Of that he was fairly certain.

KAITO
"Yeah, I know you're right. I never want to go back there again. And I'll stay away. Yeah...and they won't think twice about me. I don't have anything that would stop them. Not like you...not like Hiroki-san." he sighed but he was ok with that. He didn't want the harsh burdens of too much status in life. He just wanted a real life. It didn't even have to have a ton of money, just a warm house and a decent income to survive on.
-----
Kaito's eyes darted everywhere as they entered the club. His eyes did settle on Izo and Goshiro as they walked upstairs. Man, this wasn't going to be fun but he'd stay close to Katsu and just be a good set of ears. He couldn't do much with this league of people except look good and play his cards cautious. He could see Hiroki-san too. The man wasn't to far from the table of people he had only seen recently in some Smash information of Who's Who. They were all people he couldn't approach if he wanted to.
He ordered a ginger beer. Non-alchoholic and rather pungent. It would keep him very awake without giving him a bad time like his previous drunken stupor. Kaito never wanted to be drunk again.
His eyes caught Izo's briefly and turned away towards the stage. The man knew they were there but wasn't acting on it. Thank god.
"Yeah, I'd love to be down there dancing too. It would be fun. Wow...glad we made it on time! This is the first act? Pretty cool! Michi is a new vocalist right? I like the music!"
Hiroki's eyes caught that wink and he slightly smiled over a cocktail. He did have excellent seats to watch this show at a table right at the edge of the second floor.

Azriel didn't let go however, even though now he used Kaito's shoulder as a chin rest. "I won't let anything happen to you..." the bat whispered before finally releasing his friend and grabbing a grey shirt, very akin to the one he was earlier. He took that and the tight leather pants and left the closet to dress.
Dark eyes closed for a moment as Katsumi took in the sounds. Pop music wasn't really his thing... but the man had a nice voice. "Yes, he's Ohayou's newest... well, him and the next act." a smile came to Azriel's lips as he glanced over at his friend. "So you enjoy pop music best then, Kaito-kun?" he asked with a raised curious eyebrow, sipping his ginger ale.

Akihiko stood up at that point, vacating the chair. He walked up to stand beside Izzy, taking the other man's hands in his own and rubbing them to help both dispel some of the nervousness... and get rid of those chilled digits. "You'll be better. You've been watching stars shine for years, Ruki. Your turn now." Narcissus said with a smile and a wink.
Of course the new song, and the switch, drew the young tiger's attention. What he heard and saw... drove a spike of guilt through his heart too. Those first words... Akihiko knew immediately that this song was about the attraction between himself and Michi. He hadn't heard the song before... but now... All of the young Koyasu's songs in this set were about one man... and it wasn't the gorgeous pop vocalist on stage either. 'Being monogamous sucks... Damn it, Michi-kun...' he couldn't help thinking to himself, blue gaze unable to look away. Thankfully however he was able to hide how the song affected him with a lazy almost flirtatious smirk and the appearance of focus. Narcissus was an easy mask to wear when need be, after all. Once Michi was finished, Akihiko walked Izzy over to stage two, giving him a tiny peck on the cheek for good luck. He then ducked back so he'd have a good vantage point for his manager's debut.
As for Yuuji... "I think I'm going to have to fight girls off him with a stick..." the man spoke with a slight sigh. It wasn't that he didn't think his son was doing perfect. In fact, Takagi hadn't heard anything of the kind except from his cousin's fingertips. It was mind boggling really. But one thing was easily clear. Hideo was going to be a star. And there wasn't a damn thing Yuuji could, or would at this point, ever be able to do about it.

NIGHT IN THE CITY The Club Comes Alive!
"Yeah I do like Pop music. It's fun and I always wanted to go dancing in the clubs as a kid." said Kaito almost wistful of lost youth. His eyes were upon the dance floor, the band and the vocalists. "Pop music was my favorite as a kid. They look like they are having so much fun. And I can't wait to see you do something like this. I'll be backstage helping out too." he smiled as he leaned forward with his ginger beer close by.
Down on Stage 1, as Narcissus walked away, Izzy blushed from the small peck before glancing over to the curtain that hid Ko. He hoped that the young boy would be able to perform just as good for him. He was a little worried about that. Then he turned and winked at Narcissus before stepping forward. A violinist had been brought in from Ohayou for this piece so the man stood waiting for Izzy's cue.
Izzy tilted his head from side to side, feeling the mood of the song he was about to sing. This one was felt deep within his sad heart at one point of his life. A stark reminder of their life before....before the ocean had carried he and Shou far away...like magic....like fate....
And then the curtain spread as the powerful and deep music set forth like a wave across the audience. Izzy's emotional voice was a pure froth across that wave of sound to reach every ear. Like with the other songs he had sang, this one carried the memories of a pained heart.
The music was composed by his best friend but the words were all his own. Those days...those days, he had thought that when he made it back, he'd be alone. When he'd follow this music career on his own, without Akihiko beside him. A new path...he thought he'd wander. Yes...that had been his thoughts those days.
So where do I sail? A ship losing control My cries swallowed up, lost in the raging sea
So where has love gone? Will I ever reach it? The Cape of Storms echoes the pain I feel inside
You'll never notice The colour of sin Just as the storm clouds closes in It's dark
Here in the shadows I am pursued Until the ends of the earth Embraced
The ghost ship wanders far For there is no guiding star And this treasure has no meaning anymore
So where do I sail? A ship losing control My cries swallowed up, lost in the raging sea
So where has love gone? Will I ever reach it? The Cape of Storms echoes the pain I feel inside
You know completely The taste of sin Melting sweet in your mouth Like chocolate
A moment of pleasure You are fulfilled But every dream has its time To die
The ghost ship wanders far For there is no guiding star And this treasure has no meaning anymore
Will this be my fate? So where do I sail? A ship losing control My cries swallowed up, lost in the raging sea
So where has love gone? Will I ever reach it? The Cape of Storms echoes the pain I feel inside
Izzy didn't dances as much as Michi but his body moved with a sway that sent him closer to the audience. A drift of fog curled around his feet as he drifted from side to side. His eyes did meet those of the club, as if searching for something...never to find it. Izzy had a totally different way of connecting with the audience and he was obviously far more comfortable with the concept than Michi.
The audience was purely stunned by the purity of this song that seemed to echo the dark places with a tormented soul. The slow movement of the crowd and the lighters that lit from below gave an impression of candles upon the water. It was almost like a dark dream as the fog flowed down from the stage to meet the audience.
Izo's fingers steepled in his hands, this man...this manager, this vocalist. He could see the ash of manager burn away from glow of a real star, a deep warm glow. This man...Izzy Lucky was one of those emotional singers that dragged people within his Hell..his Heaven. It wasn't a fantasy like Shou but a hard felt reality. The dark chairman of Smash could foresee a strong probability of success for Izzy Lucky. The new star was not a pop star, his roots would be in emotional rock. And if he could sustain it, then....there was a good possibility that MeKA or...Ohayou would benefit.
Even Goshiro gaze was on Izzy Lucky, "So he isn't a fluke....amazing. I wonder who has the rights to his music." His eyes drifted to Rukuro and locked with them for but a moment. Rukuro lifted his drink with a charismatic smile.
Kaito sat back in his chair after hearing the first song then looked at Katsu while gesturing below "So he's new talent too....wow. Well, I guess it's going to be easy to see who the new competition will be in time. So what did you think of that? I really liked the violin within the song...and the keyboards. I'm guessing the keyboards were covering some of the lower range strings sounds I was hearing??"
Maybe Izo would have walked over to Katsu had his mind not been on the singer below. The man was at work gauging the potential and then gazing at Goshiro. "No...he's not a fluke." But he didn't answer the second unsaid question because Izo wasn't sure. He didn't know who Izzy was signed with. But he did glance back over at Katsu and noticed the gloves. He had a feeling that Ishihara had done his job...maybe too well. However, right now, Izo wondered if Katsumi's music could bring the same sort of emotional draw as something like this. Not that Izo minded Azriel's dark gothic horror visual kei. It was just that type of music didn't reach broad audiences like Pop and Rock. However, maybe it was the best thing if Izo expected Katsumi to take over his empire one day....no...he wanted to see the boy reach greater heights at least once in his life. Stars were meant to shine. Thus conflicted, Izo turned his head back to the stage and waited to feel and hear the next song that Izzy would offer.

If Michi's song had influenced the sensual craving side of Narcissus... Izzy's had touched the raw emotion of Akihiko. It took every ounce of self control that the young Koyasu possessed not to break into tears, though they were more than evident in his eyes. But he couldn't turn away from watching his partner's performance. No...he deserved the guilt that those words tore up inside of him... deserved every damn syllable for being such an a** to his manager. 'Oh, Ruki...' Akihiko thought to himself, making a promise right then and there that he wouldn't give into the temptations he'd felt before. No... Izzy deserved his heart. His whole heart. After all, he was who the young tiger wrote music for now...deep down... The man who had pulled him from his narcissistic shell... who had shown him that there was more to the heart than greed for what he could offer. Izzy loved him, had stayed by him through everything... through all the s**t that Akihiko had pulled and all the close calls. Taking a deep breath, a breath that betrayed a shudder of barely suppressed emotion, Narcissus smiled albeit a bit sadly. He had Izzy's heart... and Izzy had his. Perhaps it was that realization alone, that kept Narcissus from actually shedding tears at the beyond moving performance. 'You're perfect, Ruki. Damn perfect.'

"You know you COULD go down there and dance if you want to." Azriel teased with a smile, gloved fingers playing idly with his glass. Hell, he would've been dancing... if he didn't think it'd look beyond awkward. But something about Izzy Lucky's performance completely distracted the bat. He didn't notice Izo staring at him, no... Instead, Katsumi was transfixed. Then the vocalist grinned like a Cheshire Cat and glanced at Kaito. "I think..." he whispered, dark eyes fixed on Izzy and nothing else. "That I was right about him and Narcissus-san... If I could just see that pompous a**'s face as he listens to this..." The giggles that erupted from Azriel were almost silent. But he was laughing. Truly and thoroughly amused. Katsumi loved being right.

NIGHT IN THE CITY The Club Comes Alive!
Michi moved back behind the stage to find Narcissus first, "How did I do?" was the first question out of his mouth.
Kayla smiled at Narcissus, "I keep telling him he did fine but all he wants to do is confirm this with you." She rolled her eyes and swatted Michi on the butt.
Izzy paused in his set and addressed the audience after the close of the song. "Hey Everyone! Welcome to our show tonight! I'm glad you enjoyed Michi's performance and I thank you for sticking around for mine so far. Michi and I want to thank Narcissus' band for being our back up tonight. Working with them is a lot of fun! Singing for you is a lot of fun too. Just like Seventh Heaven!"
From there he burst into a much happier song that had him weaving across the stage spending a little time playing off the band. Izzy seemed to have the memories of the many young stars he had coached through the years. How to please the crowd, how to play of the band. How could he not learn these things from every year in the industry?
我に続け さあ行こう 身体中の殻を破り さらけ出す愛を繋ごう 抱きしめ合い確かめ合い 揺らめく楽園まで失速しない待っちゃくれない 掴み取ってやるさ多分 Stairs to the seventh. Running up to heaven, Yeah!
Follow me, come on, let's go Break out of the shell of your body And connect to the love that's exposed Confirming by making love We won't stall out til we reach that flickering paradise It won't wait We'll get it - probably Stairs to the seventh Running up to heaven, yeah!
煌いた瑠璃色が胸に射さり 思い知らされる (We can't let it end.) 描いていた未来図に君が浮かぶ 永遠が結ばれる My baby, don't think it's hard.
Brilliant azure pierces my heart And I know We can't let it end You appear on the map of the future I made Eternity will be bound My baby, don't think it's hard
君に最終的な question. 何処に存在するか heaven? ヒントは無い The answer in a minute thirty one.
One final question for you Where is heaven? There are no hints The answer in a minute thirty one
His lean body wove away from the band and moved across to the second stage where he leaned forward enough so those that were farther back could see him a bit close and he could sing to them. The manager gone star may not been as wild of dancer as Michi but he had a thing about swaying and moving his arms in just the right way with the music. It was a natural body language that got into the groove.
この瞬間にも進行 廻りまわり 色は変わり 誘惑に溺れ沈み 堂々巡り 塵も積もり 誰も彼もさあ来ないつも居るよ歓迎しよう その手で思う存分 Stairs to the seventh. Running up to heaven, Yeah!
We're moving forward this very instant Spinning and spinning, colors changing Drowning in temptation, going round and round The trash piles up Come on, everyone We're always here, we'll welcome you To your heart's content Stairs to the seventh Running up to heaven, yeah!
煌いた瑠璃色が胸に射さり 思い知らされる (We can't let it end.) 描いていた未来図に 君が浮かぶ 永遠が結ばれる My baby, don't think it's hard.
Brilliant azure pierces my heart And I know We can't let it end You appear on the map of the future I made Eternity will be bound My baby, don't think it's hard
君に最終的な question. 何処に存在するか heaven? 迷いは無い The answer's waiting under your feet.
One final question for you Where is heaven? There's no hesitation The answer's waiting under your feet
溢れ出し 飲みつくす 快楽と対比する症状 転換し、この大地へと築き行こう
Drink it up as it overflows Convert the opposite of pleasure And let's build this land
我に続け さあ行こう 身体中の殻を破り さらけ出す愛を繋ごう 抱きしめ合い 確かめ合い 揺らめく楽園まで失速しない待っちゃくれない 掴み取ってやるさ多分
Stairs to the seventh.
By the time Izzy ended the song, he seemed completely thrilled by the fun he was having. His eyes tracked across the second floor at the end of his performance and he raised his hands, "Thank you everyone!! And now please give us a few minutes before the main act! So give the bartenders your orders and continue to enjoy the show!"
Just before Izzy left the stage he noticed someone on the second floor that he recognized. He almost paled for a moment but then he remembered himself and waved to the crowd before slipping quickly behind the current as it closed.
As Izzy mentioned the 5 minutes, Izo finally rose from his seat walking to see his son. " Enjoying the performances?" he asked as his fingers reached down and pulled up one of Katsu's gloved hands to hold within his own for a moment. He didn't pull off the glove, he just gazed into Katsumi's eyes before setting it down gently. Meanwhile, Kaito stiffened as Izo drew near. This man scared him.
Goshiro also had risen to go speak to their peers, "Hiroki-san. It is a disappointment that Narcissus won't be here tonight. However, your new stars are quite interesting. Or is Izzy Lucky your star, Ishi-san?" Goshiro's eyes were like a hawk as he started to try to probe for answer. That conversation continued on as other ones came into being.
Below, Izzy raced around the back to the dressing room stopping just for a moment to speak to Akihiko, "I can't stay long I have some thing to do for Shou but...Akihiko, I think I saw my father up on the second floor!"

Thank the gods for Michi distracting him. Seeing his friend pop around the corner, Akihiko smiled. "Brilliant." the man spoke, wrapping an arm around Tanaka's shoulders. "Kayla-san's appearance only made things all the more real. Gave it another dimension. You work quite well with a partner, Michi-kun." the young Koyasu was smiling, hearing the new song that Izzy was singing. Something far more upbeat. Thankfully, no one had noticed how the last song had affected him. "There's a camera that recorded the performances. We'll go over each night's performance after everything's over. Let you sink in what worked and what didn't." he took a sip from the bottle of water then, finishing it off. Shou would sing, then the apology video, then his entrance. After a small intermission of course.
Once Izzy was done, Narcissus was right there, ready and waiting for his partner to jump off stage. But what the other man said startled him and quickly Akihiko reached out, grabbing Lucky's wrist. "Wait wait... what?" he asked, confused and demanding of an explanation. "Why would... I mean... your father? Really?" THIS was something that the young tiger was completely confused about. Mainly because he hadn't talked to his manager about the man's family life much... Izzy did tend to shy away or drop the subject most of the time after all.

Azriel hadn't noticed Izo's approach so when his gloved hand was suddenly touched... It took a lot not to flinch away, though a very soft almost imperceptible hiss escaped his lips. "I was just telling Kaito-kun about how much I enjoy being right." Katsu spoke with a half smirk, glad when Izo set his hand back down, the fingers twitching very slightly. "It's amazing how much soul Lucky-san put into that first song. Wonder who broke his little heart, hmm?" Using his other hand, Azriel took a sip of his drink. "I'd told you I would be here and I figured that Kaito-kun could use a break... see a few sets and kind of get a feel for things from this side of the curtain. How are you enjoying the performances?"

NIGHT IN THE CITY The Club Comes Alive!
Michi sighed with relief when Narcissus gave him his comment.
"Now will you believe me?" Kayla spoke up and shook her head at the new star. "Oh he works great with a partner. It's natural for him." she added with a wink to Narcissus. She might have been interested in Michi, it was hard to say but she certainly liked the young man.
"Alright, that sounds great. Although I might be a little scared to see myself doing that on TV." Michi admitted as the stress seemed to melt away from his face. "Lucky-san is really tearing up the house. I can really hear him interacting with the audience. I think he's further along than me already even without all the practice. His voice is so...mm..emotional.
"That's because he sings from the heart, Michi." Kayla pointed out. "Sometimes it takes years to get to that point where you can just open up to the crowd and gush your feelings without faking it. He obviously doesn't have that problem." She glanced back to the stage then looked at Michi, "Why don't we go get something to drink. We're going to be back here all night watching everyone else except when you're singing as backup."
Michi nodded then glanced at Narcissus, "I can't wait to hear your performance." Then he was dragged off by Kayla towards the small area where water was waiting for the band.
----
Izzy nodded quickly, "I'm sure it was him. I've not seen him in a long time but I swear he's up on the second floor. Yes, Izzy and his father didn't get along at all but he was certain he saw the man up there. "I don't know why he's here! I didn't call him. I wouldn't call him. If he's here though...."
Izzy seemed a hair nervous then suddnely his eyes widened, "OH crap, I've got to get moving. I'm suppose to help Shou with something! I don't know if there's any way to get a camera to at least view the second floor. I want to know if he's really up there."
The manager quickly turned quicky but then turned back to Akihiko gave Akihiko a kiss on the cheek even if he wanted to give him one on the lips before racing off to the dressing room.
-----
"Being right?" Izo's eyes watched Katsu never quite moving to Kaito as if he didn't notice him at all. "Mm....Yeah..I suppose you are right." He knew that Katsumi was right. Izo had even informed the lovers of Aki's impending actions. Yeah...he knew. But maybe he was just a wee bit charitable over the holidays considering Aki's aggressive actions. A very rare moment for Izo...very rare.
Finally his eyes glanced over to Kaito, who wanted to just melt under the table as that cold gaze washed over him. "Ah, Kaito-kun. I've heard your working with Shou-san's team to become a better stage manager than the previous one. So...tell me what you think of the performances, from a young stage manager's perceptive?"
Kaito at this point really wanted to just slink away and hide but the Spider had asked him a direct question and he wasn't sure how to answer this properly but he couldn't just sit there and say nothing!!!! Then he thought about Yamada Haru and how he didn't want to mess up in front of Katsu. He had to try! "I...well..I...think that they are doing a really good job for this particular club setting. So far...umm...mm...they've slowly ramped up the lights with each act and the fog machine was a great touch to the Cape of Storms. I'm looking forward to see the main act...sir."
Izo huffed, "And you should be...." he growled as his eyes flicked to Azriel for just a moment then upon Kaito once more, "Continue to study...you're going to have to produce something like this soon enough...or larger."
His eyes then refocused on Azriel to answer his question, "The performances were good...they caught my attention. I'm sure Hiroki-san will have his hands full this coming year." As a waiter came by, Izo ordered a drink and some snacks for his table before looking back to the two men. "I suspect that once those albums come out, they will have a good chance at the Oricon top 50. I'm very interested to see where my favored stars end up in the first half of the year."
Kaito swallowed because he knew the Spider had high expectations. He didn't want to screw up and end up...back in the pit.
"Oh yes, tomorrow you'll be picked up by mid morning and we will go to that 'appointment' together." said Izo to Azriel just before he glanced across to see his peers beckoning him over. "Things will go well tomorrow...and I will be there." His words drifted as he left the two young men to speak with his peers.
Kaito glanced at Katsu then said quietly, "I'd go downstairs but you never know who might try to steal this seat....and..mmm..I didn't want to leave you alone while the boss was up here." Kaito patted Katsu's knee. He wasn't a brave man, but he was a friend. Friends didn't leave other friend like that. He knew Katsu was hurting too...so he remained at his side.

Azriel didn't say anything for a while and instead he listened to what the spider said to his friend. "I think everyone will enjoy the main act." Katsu spoke, his dark gaze fixed solely on Izo. "Hopefully even those who knew ahead of time who the guest star was." In other words, the bat gave him valuable information about his own damn star and the spider had seen fit to punish him for it all because his call had woken the man well after noon! The anger in those eyes was almost palpable, but then the young man smirked. "I'm interested to see that myself... especially since I have a few ideas that might make you a pretty bit of profit before the year's out. A couple more songs and my album will be finished. I wouldn't mind hitting the top of the charts for once. Might put a smile on even your face." Azriel added, setting down his glass. A shiver ran down the man's spine however and Katsumi just nodded at first. Then... in a whisper... "Arigatou, Matsumoto-san..." So... Izo really would be there... Suddenly, Azriel felt sick to his stomach despite the ginger ale. It took every bit of willpower he had not to be sick right then and there. He hardly looked forward to tomorrow... the mere thought feeling like a bullet in his gut... But when the nausea passed, Izo had departed and Azriel was left alone with Kaito again. His friend's words brought the vocalist back to the present and out of his dark thoughts. Katsumi smiled, putting one hand over Kaito's own. "Thanks... without you here I might've just puked all over the table just now." he said, his fingers tightening slightly on the man's own hand. Ah how he wanted the elephant sitting just a few tables away to put an arm around his shoulders just now...

"Camera... I..." but then Izzy kissed him and rushed off. Akihiko quite literally growled at himself then turned on one heel and made a beeline for the one person he knew could dash up there and film the occupants of the second floor. "Do me a favor." he spoke quickly after grabbing Yuuji by the elbow.
Of course thus, Takagi, using the headset, asked the camera man who was filming the show for the purpose of the musicians using it later... to quickly film the second floor and the staircase, zooming in on everyone up there. Izzy wouldn't be able to see it just yet... but he'd know soon enough.

NIGHT IN THE CITY The Club Comes Alive!
Izo's eyes returned to Katsu as the young man spoke of the 'knowledge' about the headliner. His gaze hardened as he leaned down and whispered into the Katsu's ear. "If you think waking me up was the reason why I was angry...you've a lot to learn."
Pulling away, he returned to commenting about the current gig and the future events to come for Smash. "Your music always puts a smile on my face. And I'm certain when you hit the tops of the chart that will be cause for celebration."
Once the older man left, Kaito looked at Katsu and leaned closer, "You going to be ok? Shoot...don't do that. Remember...puking is bad...very bad. In a place like this you're bound to hit someone. Trust me." He patted Katsu hand trying not to think of himself almost puking on Ishihara You!
-----
Back behind the curtain, Ko had jumped down and raced to the potty. He was in there but a minute before scampering back to his space. He could see the drummer had also gotten back to his set and was smoking on a cigarette. Ko fidgeted a little, thinking it was too quiet even though people out there were milling about and talking.
His fingers tapped on the edge of the keyboard and finally he just gave into his own desire to do something. His fingers started to drift over the keys settlingly down to a slow pace that started and soon rose to a fiercely danceable techno beat that filled the entire club.
Narcissus' drummer almost lost his cigarette when the music piped up and started it's heavy rhthym. He knew Ko was playing back behind that purple curtain but the music needed something. So being courageous, the drummer leapt to his seat and grabbed up his sticks. When his sticks hit the drums, Ko's smile widened. That new sound was adding a strong beat as the drummer jammed with the boy.
Out in the club the audience was surprised by the sudden song that had rose out of nowhere and seemed to come from the stage itself rather than any of the DJs that had played earlier. But the lower floor was hip on the beat and soon the dance floor was writhing and trying to catch a glimspe of what the heck was going on with the stage that wasn't revealing the people playing.
Ko laughed as the two of them explored the song's rich vibe while Jaz almost freaked out in his engineering area as the Premonition System lite up the club with colors that raced with the music. He hadn't expected anyone to be playing on the BREAK!
Across the mic, the drummer sang a few words to add to the techno "And I say this through the night...Let us not forget, there is Hope." The drummer winked at Ko as he played hard on the drums taking over as Ko backed off to let the man highlight that moment.
Yammi raced to the stage with a fresh lit cig trying to make sure that nothing was going wrong. He knew Ko took off on his own and he could hear his drummer.
Shou hurried to his starting point at Stage 1 because he hadn't expected this sudden change either. "Everything ok?!" he mouthed to Narcissus on their side of the stage. He peered towards the curtain wondering if Ko would follow the planned schedule.
Meanwhile, Kaito started grooving with the music in his chair. "Techno Dance music! Seriously?! It's good. Just wish we could see who's playing. I mean I'm guessing it's Narcissus' band right?"
As the music continued, Hiroki took a careful look over at Katsumi. He knew that Izo had been talking to Katsumi but he couldn't walk over there not in the midst of this show. This music wasn't even on the...schedule. God, he wondered what Shou was doing or had changed! His hand clenched the rail by his table as he worried about Katsumi and the gig below. Although the music was spectacular and he was almost certain he knew who was behind the keyboard...and drums.
The other chairmen took in the sound and then waved Hiroki over to speak with him. He wouldn't refuse the brief conversation but he wouldn't talk long. However, he'd used that moment to at least brush Katsumi's shoulder as he spoke to a waiter nearby to get a new drink before returning to his seat.

If you think waking me up was the reason why I was angry...you've a lot to learn. A look of utter confusion appeared on Katsumi's face at that point, everything else forgotten for the moment. Of course that was why Izo was angry... wasn't it? Ishihara didn't tell him what Shou was doing, and no doubt neither Shou or Yamada had told him. Azriel was still garnering information from Hiroki to give to the spider, so surely that wasn't it either. Thinking back to his earlier phone conversation however... might have provided the answer. Katsu had insinuated that Izo didn't have things under control. He had mocked that notion... hell he'd hung up on the spider! Wincing slightly, Azriel's eyes focused on Kaito. "Yeah... I'll be fine. Remind me to keep my mouth shut next time..." he whispered, trying to get comfortable. But he couldn't help glancing at Izo's back. He really had brought this on himself. His own anger and hatred had gotten the better of him and he'd been too hasty... too rash... Izo was mad because he'd been disrespected... and because his son hadn't thought things through. Katsu knew that now. Sighing, he looked back to Kaito. "I really wish the show were over..." the bat whispered, wanting nothing more than to curl up in bed in Hiroki's arms and forget about this damn day. It seemed though that perhaps fate had heard his want, and as Hiroki walked past, the elephant of Ohayou carefully bumped into Katsu. Of course the bat smiled slightly and felt his heart a bit less dark and depressed, but he wouldn't act on that bump. Instead, he focused on Kaito as new music was struck up. "I think... whoever it is is behind that curtain." Azriel spoke, pointing to the stage.

Catching the look and the mouthed words from Shou, Narcissus nodded. Technically yes, everything was fine. Just... It really wasn't Akihiko's place to tell Shou about Izzy's father. Hell he hadn't even told Yuuji. Not for the first time of course the young tiger wondered just what Izzy was supposed to be doing for the mercurial star. He wanted to talk to his manager about this sudden appearance... wanted to make sure Lucky wasn't completely freaking out. Narcissus knew about the man's rocky family relationship and he knew that Izzy's father didn't approve of the man's choice to give up the family business and work in the music industry. So why was the man here? Had Krystal and Rukuro been a factor in this sudden appearance? Akihiko was torn between actually asking the woman and yet trying to keep it a secret that he was even there.

NIGHT IN THE CITY The Club Comes Alive!
The music started to slow and Jaz dimmed the lights just briefly to let everyone know that things were about to begin again. He used the mic to call back to Yuuji and check on Ko. He wanted to make sure that the rest of the gig went as scheduled even if the music was really good filler. The energy within the club was very high again. Perfect for their...."headliner."
On stage 1 and 2, the fog machines had already started pumping up behind the massive curtains as the crew had hurried in and added more of the Japanese style set around the stages. Shou planned on making use of both but he had a few surprises in store.
Shou glanced over to the curtain and then at Yammi. Yammi walked over and peeked behind the curtain. "Tot, we're about to start the next set. Now...hey, we loved your music there but after your Uncle is done with his songs, don't start playing anything else because Narcissus has his surprises for the audience. Ok?"
"Oh..OK! He's got surprises? Do I get to see?" Ko asked as he moved the songs listed on the keyboard monitor up to Shou's set.
"Well...yeah...you should get to see. Since you're not playing during Narcissus' set. You'll be able to watch from the side of the back stage." Yammi pointed out then glance back to the stage.
"Awh...but I want to play for Akihiko-niisan." pouted Ko as he cracked his knuckles.
"Well...that's up to Narcissus. You can ask him." Yammi sent word over the mic to Narcissus so the man could think about it while they played for Shou. Then Yammi went to his position and picked up his guitar. "Ok, Shou-san...Let's do this thing."
Shou took a slow breath as Jaz piped up on the speakers around the club. "And...now....we present to you......"
Jaz's voice stopped right as Yammi's lilting notes from his guitar echoed in the club. The curtains drew back upon both stage. Red lights flickered dimly through the fog that cascaded down in a heavy roll from the stage to the floor.
Shou's perfect voice filled the club as his white, black and red kimono spun slowly in the fog. Within his hand, a pinwheel that turned in the mist as his body wove story while he danced.
Upon stage 2, at the same time as Shou's appearance, another person in a woman's kimono appeared. The face was covered with a feminine mask just like Kabuki theater and the hair was long, black and streaming down the back. The kimono was heavy, a deep crimson covered with flying birds and insects that were rushing away from something at the bottom of the kimono which was too difficult to see from a distance. In the performer's hands two white fans touched by red at the edge. The 'woman's' movements coincided with Shou's in an elegant display of grace and beauty.

If a bad dream is reflected in my eyes, I have a bad habit of closing them.
As Shou and the woman moved, a story much like Kabuki theater was being told upon stage. As the his hands moved, her fans followed flipping and spreading in flight like the mayfly within his song. Mystery and Magic, this was what Shou represented the never-ending dream that one couldn't quite catch. Something that came within the night and disappeared with waking eyes.

He spun around madly reaching out to the second stage as she flutter like a dream. 'Her' dancing so skilled with timing so perfect that it was hard not to watch the 'mayfly' as she performed. Fans flipped to the sky locked together and coming down to met 'her' fingertips as she lulled away from the man to the left. Shou's body followed in sync like the graceful peacock. His pin wheel spinning faster within his fingertips.

At this point in the story, the two dancers had woven closer meeting in the middle of the walk way between the two stages. The colored lights flickered and changed with soft spotlights touching upon them. They shuffled back and forth upon that walk way in sync with each other as if the gravity of one stage or the other could be chosen. Then 'she' moved backwards and he followed her to the second stage, his fingers reaching forward as if he could grasp her but never quite reach.

Up in the audience, the older guests stared on in amazement of the complex Kabuki dance that took place at their feet. This was the difference between Shou's level and that of newer stars. He pulled in elements that were from other parts of culture and skillfully wove them within his magical realm even with a smaller setting and minimal stage props. However, Kabuki theater was like that too at times so it really could explain his selection for this piece.
The younger audiences below weren't dancing as much but watching and trying to sing along. While this song could have been danced to, more people tried to rush the stage to get close to the famous star that needed no introduction. Everyone knew it was Shou and everyone expected the drama and glorious magic that went along with each and every act.
Izo smiled as his arms crossed in front of him. It was one of Shou's newest songs and he doubted that the man had fully had everything perfected especially taking on this gig without warning. This might not have even been what he would use in an arena but it was damn good. Good as gold...Brilliant.
But, for Azriel, something was very familiar about this dance. Very familiar. Had he seen it in a dream? Maybe a momentary glimpse of reflection? The kimono so elegantly displayed with a slightly proactive turn and a flick of the wrist....somewhere...had he seen this before?
As the song came to a close, she back away and Shou lost her in the mist, leaving him alone on stage reaching out to the audience as his pinwheel slowly halted and dropped to his side. The cheers went up wildly from below and above as the star's last words drifted into silence.
Yammi sighed with relief as he stood there letting the last notes come off his guitar. His band was dead on ROCK SOLID! Even for only just getting this dang music in the morning. See that Narcissus? We're damn good! We deserve better! Yammi wanted to yell at the man Would the man live up to his expectations? The angry guitarist glanced over at Narcissus and sucked in a drought from the cigarette between his lips. His weight shifted in the samurai costume as his ribs ached beneath and wished he could take those pain killers.
Izzy was still unseen by Narcissus but the man would know that the second person on Shou's stage was NOT Izzy. Izzy couldn't move like that. He didn't dance like that. And no doubt, Izzy was not skilled in Kabuki theater.
Back up in the second floor, Hiroki was awed by the on stage performance. Shou really was at a different level from the new stars. But one day, maybe they'd reach that point. It wasn't just the music but the way he wove the whole package. Just like Narcissus...master storytellers. Hiroki couldn't wait to see the fans reactions after the apology...but for now he played his cards close and let everyone think he was as disappointed as they were.
Kaito turned to Katsu then leaned in to whisper. "What did you think of that performance? I really think you would look great in one of those kimono. This gig is really inspiring....I really want to do a stage show like this for you but better, once I learn how."

Things were suddenly busy and while Akihiko hadn't seen Izzy again to tell him that the second floor's occupants had been recorded, that didn't mean the musician wasn't trying to help in the quiet chaos. Yuuji was checking on Ko before suddenly there was a question into his headset and he was sent dashing back to Narcissus. "Yammi wants you to think if you want Ko to play for you or..." "Of course." Akihiko replied honestly, "If he can do it, let him do it. But these are all new songs so I'm not sure if he CAN do it. I... seriously, have you seen Ruki?" Yuuji shook his head, suddenly hearing cues over the headset and pointing to the stage. "Shou's starting." he spoke quickly before returning to his spot watching Ko. Sighing, Narcissus moved so he could watch the performance as well. The dancer surprised him really and thus the musician was trying to figure out just who was on stage. Not Izzy and not Nikki... perhaps Shou's designer? It would make sense since no one had seen the man... or woman...

Had he seen it in a dream? Memories from Shou's mind filtered through the bat's head, but he couldn't recall the woman who danced before them. But there was something familiar... something oh-so soft... sensual... Azriel couldn't place it. He'd seen this style of dance before, hell he knew how to dance like this himself though few knew it. The young vocalist was trained in dance, traditional and sensual, and he knew that this performer was trained as well. "I think..." Katsumi blinked, glancing at Kaito after the song was over. "I think the dancer stole Shou-san's limelight." he spoke with a slight smile before laughing. "Mmmm... that's right... I haven't worn anything like that recently, have I? Inspiring? Good..." But it was obvious that Azriel was still distracted by that performance. Why was it so damn familiar?
