Or convincing people that D&D 4.0 isn't evil. gonk

3.5 is less training wheels. It's not that hard to actually read two books to figure out how to play, and fighting isn't ever the only option.

I do like the second wind thing, because a lot of party wipes I've seen are from dice alone.

The Second Wind instantly made me think of the Kingdom Hearts ability under the same name.

One of the rules I'm instituting will be a basic Will Save to allow you to get back up after being knocked below 0 HP and keep fighting. It would allow you to get in one more hit and could make a difference in battle. At the same time, you "Die" in 4.0 once you hit " - whatever your surge Bloodied value is." This means that each time you got hit after initially getting back up, you'd have to roll another will save and pass to get back up again, until you're actually dead.

If you die, I'm going to have players try to convince Death to spare the fallen party member without rolls to assist them. If he takes them, you can still spend the money to revive them or whatever, but its a chance to avoid that high cost to the party. At least until someone learns Raise Dead or whatever.

They don't have the die hard feat that does exactly that anymore?

If they do, I haven't seen it.

Then again, I haven't seen all the books for that s**t.

Diehard [General]
Prerequisite

Endurance.
Benefit

When reduced to between -1 and -9 hit points, you automatically become stable. You don’t have to roll d% to see if you lose 1 hit point each round.

When reduced to negative hit points, you may choose to act as if you were disabled, rather than dying. You must make this decision as soon as you are reduced to negative hit points (even if it isn’t your turn). If you do not choose to act as if you were disabled, you immediately fall unconscious.

When using this feat, you can take either a single move or standard action each turn, but not both, and you cannot take a full round action. You can take a move action without further injuring yourself, but if you perform any standard action (or any other action deemed as strenuous, including some free actions, swift actions, or immediate actions, such as casting a quickened spell) you take 1 point of damage after completing the act. If you reach -10 hit points, you immediately die.

Kind of a waste of a feat, but it's there. You go to ******** instead of just being ********.

There's a Toughness feat in martial power I think that gives you like extra HP. Something along those lines.

Yes, there is. I considered taking it for my Paladin at some later point.

However, Toughness only gives you an additional 15 HP overall. 5 when you learn it, 5 when you hit your Paragon Path at lvl 11, and 5 more at lvl 21 or whatnot.

Nvm. I was thinking of the feat from Complete Warrior of 3.5.

Edit: Ryugi got it.

All things considered, I MAY allow players to have feats from 3.0 or 3.5 assuming they don't break the 4.0 game. I'm going to try to be flexible, since I want it to be more about fun, and less about RULES ARE RULES.

As a side note, certain enemies would make use of that will save rule as well. xd

We'll make sure those enemies won't be able to do anything either once they find their hands burnt off or the like.

Ryu....you might want to run a 3.5 game. I can get you the books, I got 'em on pdf.

Vin: Ah, ok. I stopped going to the sight once my favorite article stopped running. Characters with Class was just a fun read.
