She looked down at her hands, sniffed. "Huh." She turned around, her back stiff with anger. "I can see being raped and beaten means nothing to you." She began to walk back to Meilikki's room, where she left Cedric's quarterstaff leaning against the wall. "Feelings of shock and abondment, hopelessnes. No, all those things disapear as soon as you are comfortable. I'm sure Dimitri doesn't visit her every time she closes her eyes. I'm sure she doesn't feel useless and pathetic. Really, I understand. These things just don't happen."
She picked up the quarterstaff, leaning it agianst her shoulerd. "We are leaveing now, Cedric."

Cedric made a note about of a few of the things that bothered Onyx. And followed Aella as she returned for her staff. "Perhaps before we go, you could say fare well to the Oracle." The elf stood a little stern agianst her leaving so suddenly. "Please, tell her that you will come back to visit again."

She closed her eyes a second, handed the staff off to Cedric. "Right. Sorry."
Inside the room, Meilikki was still sitting up, looking lost in thought.
She looked up, casting her eyes in Aella's direction. She held her arms out a bit.
She practically fell into those arms. "Ma. I'm sorry."
She nodded. "I know." A breath "It was good to see you, Aella."
"Thanks, Ma. I'll be back to visit you again."
"Please see that you do." She pushed Aella from ehr and towards the door. "Go on now. Wouldn't want you to get in trouble with anybody."
Aella closed the door softly, whiping tears from her eyes. "Okay. I'm ready now."

"Ok, now; where are we going?" Cedric had to ask, as he did not know. He was in Deep Water when he was recruited, and he came to the Triumverate Fortress from the ruins of Blindingstone.

"You don't know what hopelessness is."
He snarled at her.
"You don't know that's like, and you never will. not like I know it. not like my father knew it, and not like Meilikki knows it. You want to know what hopelessness is like. Fine. lets show you what hopelessness and torment and misery are really like. Rape is only part of it. rape actually, is the smallest part of it."
He verifiably roared.
"Moonstone!"
And pushed the door back open, pushing Whirlwind back in.
"Lets see if you can handle what hopelessness is. My father was grateful to those that got him away from that life. I was grateful I never had to live through it like he did. and don't turn a damned blind eye to what I say becuase it badmouths your precious Tarathiel. I never said being raped and beaten ment nothing. But I expect some gratitude, I expect some sign of life beyond just acceptance of existing. that is important. it proves that Dimitri can't have everything. right now, even in death, she belongs to him. because she wants to die. she wants to wither into nothing. just like he would have done, once she served his purpose."
And he looked over at Cedric.
"You wanted something, yes? some questions answered? then come and play, and see what you might never want to, as soon as my twin gets here."
another roar.
"Moonstone! get your a** over here!"
Malik heard the roaring, and shook his head.
"Someone just got put in a worse mood than usual. I swear he got his father's temper, without the long fuse that he has."
A gesture to a slave.
"Send up two breakers on the stairs. thier not to do anything until it's very clear there's about to be a real fight. I don't want Aella or her escort to think I just beat up and corral anyone for any reason."

She was about to answer Cedric when she was pushed back. Taken by surprise, hurt and angry over the things he was saying to her. She was frightened though. Isn't this the person that told her he'd protect her not let anything happen to?
Her anger fought with her fear. Who the hell is he to tell her she doidn't know what hopelessness was?
moosntone, unaware about what was happening, stuck his head around the corner. "What's your yelling about? I'm right here." Quick assesment of the situation, and a frown. "Onyx, what are you doing?"

Cedric looked at the large beastual creature that replaced the once rather pleasent Onyx. He felt the power with the beast grow, and understood its significance, and its extent. If Onyx wanted to fight Aella, then Cedric would have to stop him, and much to Onyx's surprise, he will find this elf to be well versed in fighting such creatures. Cedric has a very high tolerance for people, but if they wanted to fight, and tried to kill Cedric or his friends, he would not be gentle with them.
"Creating hopelessness is an evil act, Onyx Blackone. If you intend to do evil to Aella, then you had better be prepaired for all of the consequences. If you lash out at her anymore, you may find that she will never return here or near you again. Violence will not give you what you want."
The elf was not so foolish as to believe that Onyx wouldn't just jump at him or Aella, so he pulled a spoon from his belt and held it in his hand towards Aella.

Onyx turned on the Elf, and glared at him, a snarl curling at the end of his jaw..beofre turning to Moonstone.
"Whirlwind thinks I don't care about the oracle's feelings or what she went through. but we both know that kind of torment. we saw it with father on his spirit walk with us. I want you to spiritwalk Whirlwind and the Oracle. and let whirlwind know what it really is like to feel hopelessness and misery."
he looked down at her.
"You never believe me, you never trust my word becuase you seem to think I never know what I'm talking about, or what it's like, or because I talk bad about Tarathiel and you just seem to tune that out. I'm going to show you how I know. I'll let you experience a spiritwalk with someone who's gone through that."
then back to Cedric.
"I only want her to understand. I want her to trust my word when I talk about things like that. I've been there, I've seen it, I felt what it was like. I want to help her understand. and the oracle will have someone to truly share her burden with, and it will help her to live, to know that someone at least knows exactly what she went through, can relate to her, can help her get back to her feet."
the Best intentions, eh? Or, maybe, someplace in the dark part in the back of Onyx's head..he wanted a deeper connection to Aella. something that woudl form a much stronger bond, somethign to draw her closer to him. and in anger, this was the thing it had come up with.
Two Breakers stood on the steps, watching, idly fingering thier mallets, though thier attention was obviously on Onyx. Seemed Malik was indeed ready to protect people in his home if need be. even from eachother.

Moonstone held up his hands. "Hey, whoa! First, I don't even know if I'm capable of doing that. Second, the Oracle? In her condition? I mean, if Mother and Nailah had a hard time with it, stress and all, I don't think the Oracle could survive it. The woman can't even stand." He wasn't going to go any further than the logical part of it. he didn't want to get into a fight that wasn't his.
"Why do you keep thinking I don't know what pain is? My whole village was destroyed when I was young, and I was taken as a slave. For years and years. What more measure of hopelessness do you need? Why do you always have to tell me I'm wrong?" She took the spoon from Cedric, although she looked at it and blinked, even more confused now than ever.

Cedric locked his eyes on Onyx, as he took the spoon back from Aella. "Do not mislead me with your violent mannerisms. IF you intend peaceful and non-violent things, then perhaps a peaceful and relaxed approach would better service your needs." The elf placed the spoon holding hand on Aella's shoulder.
"I believe that Aella understands sorrow."

Onyx looked down at her again.
"Because you were a slave for pleasure. You were's a slave bred and used for the sole purpose of being hurt or causing pain. You were raped, I know. and I do understand that. but lets see what it means when you know there are people that can help you. when you know they are there, and completely capable of helping you, adn refuse because of the color of your eyes. Or how about killing your own cousin in a fit of rage. or how about having your pregant mate ripped apart in front of you."
He kneeled down.
"That's some of what my father went through. some of what I got to feel, got to experience on a spiritwalk. or how about weeks of nothign but having sharp things thrown, gored, spiked into you. how about being trapped in a room and tortured until the floor was so covered in your blood it soaked into the stone and dyed it red. fighting for your life every day and night. killing others because if you didn't eat them, you didn't eat. Or how about knowing that even if you got out of your cage, and beyond the walls of the place you were kept...you had no place else to go. nothing around for miles. no place to hide."
His eyes locked on hers, watching her.
"That is pain. You village was destroyed...you at least knew that your people didn't let you go without a fight. they tried to protect you. the only people that tried to protect my father were his parents, who died doing that. and before you even say that was my father, not me. remember, I experienced it. I literally walked in his shoes. I may not bear the physical or emotional scars, but I do remember what it felt like, emotionally and physically."
"That's why I admired my father. Idolized him, and hated him. hated that all he was I coudl never be. I coudl never have his endurance, his power, his wisdom. there's nothing in the world that could give me what he has. and I did mention breeding, didn't I. so yes, I know what it's like to be raped. I know the humiliation, the degrading qualites, if not that particular pain."
His voice was soft now, and it didn't have the angry edge to it.
"I don't want to hurt you. I don't want to cause you pain, or see you hurt, or know your sad. I want to protect you, and to be with you. But you have to trust me as much as I trust you. You look down on me when the word 'pain' is mentioned. when your hurt, you try to hide it as if for some reason you don't think I know what pain is. Or, more liekly you assume I don't know pain like you know pain."
Onyx got up, and pulled Aella up with him to her feet. Before looking over at the Oracle.
"You need to live. you need to surive. not only for your sake but for hers."
Then back to whirlwind, and gentle pushed her toward cedric.
"You want to leave, I'm not going to stop you. but you don't need to leave. if anything you need to stay, for your mother. if anyone needs me anymore I'll be in my room."
And that's where he headed, closing the door mostly behind him.
The breakers just looked at eachother. that was one mentally screwed up feline. or at least that was thier opinion.

"This isn't about me, Onyx. I know I have help. I'm right here, aren't I?" But he didn't give her a chance to say anything else as he left the room. Confused, rather weak, she looked over at Meilikki. What shuld she do now?
She was a little surprised by the yelling that went on at the foot of her bed, and it had given her a headache ontop of her other discomforts. "Aella. Come here a moment." When she felt that the girlw as close, she spoke again. "No one is going to degrade your experiance by trying to outshine it with something worse"
"There are others here in the Fortress to look after me. Go back to your ship. Visit me when your captain allows."
"You sure?"
"I'm sure." She put on a brave smile.
"Okay." She went to the door to stand beside Cedric. "I think it's time we let my mother have some sleep."

Pondering what the big cat had to say, Cedric noticed a few things about Onyx's personality. He was ignorant, jealous, and self absorbed. He was living in the shadow of his father because he felt dwarfed by the experience of an older vah. That story had too many similarities with far too many tales Cedric has heard, and he felt that under other circumstance, he would have felt compassion for this older vah's perserviernce. The vah over came his tragedies, and fathered two children. But, this story made it appear that he was living in the past, that only the past mattered. THe older vah had unintentionally crippeld his child's growth by swarming him with a history that the younger should have endured thorugh his own experience. What a horrible parent, forcing his offspring to bare his life, diminishing the value of the younger by telling him that no matter what he does, the father has lived it ten times worse. The child probably came running out here to find his own strength, and challenges so he could live up to the expectations placed upon him by an overbaring parent. Onyx's father was a true monster. What kind of cold hearted minion of darkness forces his children to feel rape, death, and utter dispair?
By the end of the tale, the only thing that Cedric could truly feel for Onyx was pitty. It was a pitty his father did not have the sense to teach him how to live his own life, through his own experiences. The poor child would never understand how to deal with situations, he had to live up to his father's expectations and wants, his wills and beliefs. If Onyx failed to do that, he failed to live as a vah, from the point of view of the one who tought him about life. Onyx's ignorance was not his fault, it was forced upon him in the most unholy of ways. The elf looked at the other vah, Moonstone was his name, and showed how he could emphasise with his history.
"What a tragedy." The elf turned his eyes to look at Aella, "I agree with the Oracle. Staying here will not allow us to understand Onyx better... I mean, we are not needed here to protect the Oracle. Ship, yes. Which one?" Cedric would need some more time to consider Onyx's story. His intial reaction would not go well with hsi long deceased teacher. Each person had something to offer in the search for truth, Onyx shared a piece of tragic history which ahd many despairing details.

The breakers left the stairs, and went back to thier own duties. Only nodding slight to the halfelf and the full elf.
Onyx laid on his bed, staring out the window. He didn't know what to do, how do it, how to feel or what to feel. he felt throughly confuised and it bothered him to absolutly no end whatsoever.
