Now that the vidya discussion is over, I'd like to discuss something serious.
Deadly ******** serious.

Hypothetical situation. Try to ignore most of the nonsensicalness of this.
Imagine Earth has made contact with an alien race, and to help relations with this newly found alien race, we’ve sent a couple million humans to live among them on their planet, while the same amount of them come to live on our planet.
The aliens look like roughly human sized earth spiders. We’ll call them “space spiders” for ease of discussion.
How do you think people would react to this kind of situation? Do you think people would be scared shitless of them to the point of severe space spider racism? For example, imagine if you had a new neighbor moving in so you go over to introduce yourself. Turns out they’re space spiders. And, having a humongous arachnophobia I assume most of you have, there is no way you’d be able to treat them as normal neighbors. Would you?
Also, what would you do if you were forced to go and live among them?
I think it depends largely on if the space spiders have anything similar to us on their home world that occupies the same niche that spiders do on ours. Accomdating that, I can see insecticide stock soaring and arachnophobia becoming either incredibly common or rare. if I had one for a neighbor, I'd make sure I could communicate with them as I would a human (barring the difficulty in shaking hands), and as I'm a borderline shut-in, I think it'd be fine on my end.
As for living among them? Heh, I think I'd be pretty fine.
