Yeah.

I actually enjoyed the latter half of The Hills Have Eyes.

But the attack at the beginning, what with the rape and the killing and all, hit me hard and killed my confidence in the film's potential, so I walked away after it and didn't even finish watching it until two days later.

Even the latter half though, the heavier part of my impression was all the stark violence and blood. It was successfully creepy in a sort of stark, brutal way, but I don't figure that'd be great for this. Not my favorite kind of creepy either, but for lack of others not bad.

I liked video games with horror and such mixed in over horror movies, since they tend to have more suspense moments and better use of shock tactics. Movies use brutality to gain a shock points alittle too much.

Yeah. In movies, over-blown brutality tends to just leave me feeling mildly sickened... where as in games, I tend to love it. Instead of just watching it and reacting, games amp up full affect of it and spread it to more than just revulsion, because when you see it in a game you're thinking "Oh s**t, that could happen to me" and "whatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdo!".

Rather than just tossing it out there to make people flee the theater for the restroom, done right in a game you can actually use it to make a player genuinely start to fear a certain person or thing- and, and largely because they can, react accordingly and run like hell, or as is the case in most games, blindly use far more ammo/MP/their top weapons on it than they needed to in a panic.

F.E.A.R. did a good job of that...did NOT want to go into the dark for the life of me. Creepy a** little girl...

FEAR was pretty good.

Though I didn't get the ammo wasting thing on it. I learned real quick which replica's needed how much to kill, which left me with one of my weapon slots occupying something like the skeleton gun until the end of the game, collecting max ammo, before I finally just tore whatever was there apart.

In the expansions, anyway.

In the end I flipped out because I had all this skeleton gun and then the game says "no, you have to fight Alma with PISTOLS".

Also, DEE.

I always ended up using the penetrator and pinning them to walls or the shotgun and adrenaline rushes to run through the resulting blood spray. In all honesty though, aside from what you could do, Alma did very little. Melted afew guys, sure, but you killed more people than that in a shorter time span.

also, Rae are you interested in the quest thingy? Rain said he might, but I need to find a place other than the guild for it, and Sutiiven said he was in. I just wanna get it rolling before I lose interest and forget about it, heh sweatdrop
